So according to the Presselounge info, Svenni and Joachim were born around the same time, maybe even the same year. Svenni died age 34 in 1984 and Joachim died age 42 in 1993, so she was born in 1950/1 and he in 1951/2. (I hope I did the math right there) Which opens up the possibility that they maybe went to school together. They haven't interacted a whole lot one on one in the series so far but that would be so cool if they knew each other while they were alive, maybe they were even friends and then later grew apart. Imagine Joachim dying and immediately being cheerfully greeted by someone he used to know ages ago, someone he had basically completely forgotten about. They used to be the same age but now he's 10 years older than Svenni. Idk I just think it would be a really interesting dynamic.

One thing I love about the German adaptation of Ghosts is how they took the politician character and turned him into more of an everyman. Granted, I only watched a couple of episodes from the CBS show and merely a few clips of the BBC original, but next to Julian (politician), Trevor (stockbroker), and that guy from the upcoming French version, who also looks like he led a rather lavish and licentious lifestyle before kicking the bucket, Joachim is just such a refreshing take on the concept. Considering what is revealed about his background story on the ARD theme page, it is highly improbable he was as wealthy in life as his counterparts from the other shows. If you look at his suit, it's slightly too big for him and also doesn't look all too expensive, at least in my opinion. He gets overly excited over rather mundane things such as playing solitaire on the laptop (sure, technology evolved, but still, it's just a virtual card game) and when he helps Urs ask for the chess pieces, his request for a set made of mahogany is an afterthought, as if he quickly decided to make it count when Emma agreed to the deal. Plus, his entire appearance doesn't exactly scream 'rich' and I love that about him. It makes for a much more relatable character, even though I don't hate the other character concepts.
