Other side of the tracks.
We grew up in the same town,
but see two different cities.
You were raised around peace and love,
while i was taught to show no pity.
The park for you is a place for fun,
yet i use it for business involving drugs and my gun.
Even our forecast are different,
not much will ever be the same. You grab an umbrella at the sight of rain,
I gotta duck for cover hoping that they miss my brain.
Our educations were very different,
even though the schools were the same.
You got to learn to read and write,
while I was taught the rules to the game.
You spent all your time playing those video games,
as I was breaking into houses getting high on that cane.
You look at my life style as crazy, but that's ok,
kuz I look at yours the same fuckin' way.
Go ahead and judge me homie,
it don't mean a thing.
Jus' don't take it personally,
if I squeeze one off at your brain.
I just needed you wallet, but I'll take your life all the same.

My Desert
I grew up in a desert,
where no one uses their names.
Learning to love the sounds,
as that metal as it slides back with a bang.
Knowing you have to shoot first,
or it's your mother standing over a grave.
Risking time in prison,
jus' to keep poverty at bay.
Everyone uses drugs homie,
they help push the memories away.
Violence is always an answer,
its why the weak never stay.
The smart can rise quickly,
but everyone gets locked away.
Taught never to say shit,
those people end up living in pain.
Your welcome to hangout,
just be careful what you say.
Kuz disrespectful shit,
is still answered with a bullet to the brain.
You'll still be the one blamed, f
or leaving my soul with another bloody stain.
So welcome to my desert,
how long do you wanna stay?

She smiles just for me.
Dear Readers,
Greetings and Salutations! I hope these words find you all in the best of health! Thank you for taking a few moments out of your day to see what I've decided to share with you today. I'd like to take up a few more minutes of your time to share something with you all that won't help prove people wrong when they say men are nothing but large kids. Some way, some how, we (men) tend to find ourselves with a crush on someone we just can't have. This is something we've done since grammar school. As a young boy many tend to fall smitten with a teacher, and as a teen maybe it was the girl in math class, at least it was for me =) And now as grown men in prison, many develop a crush on the nurse.
Look, I get it, she comes in and passes out meds and says good morning, afternoon, or night with a smile everyone swears is just for them! If I had a quarter for every time I heard '' See that, foo? She likes me!'' I'd be rich, hell if I got a penny every time I'd be doing pretty good. On the other hand I'm not sure which is funnier, that they think she is flirting just because she is polite and knows smiles are contagious. Or the fact that when they are told they are crazy they will look you in the face and say '' your just jealous that she likes me!'', This is something I see everywhere and when it come to med call I enjoy grabbing a snack and watching as every other guy who thinks himself none other than Ricco Suave himself goes to show the nurse how charming he can bs.
Should you care too guess what happens next? Let me tell you, he stammers and studders right before asking '' What time is it? '' or one of my all time favorites. Is when they feel the best way to start off the conversation is by asking what medication they are taking. Please by all means let me know if I'm wrong, but if she didn't think they were crazy enough for needing medication and being locked up. Then needing a daily reminder of what medication they're taking is for sure not the way to convince her they're quality dating material.
The jury is still out on whats more of an epic fail D.Jordan from the Clippers at the free throw line or random inmate in the medication line. Let me know what you think.
If there are any nurses reading this right now who work anywhere, please know I admire your patience and tolerance for dumbasses! I know some people can be assholes, but remember the next person in line might think your madly in love with him =)
As always thank you for taking the time to read my writing and I hope you join me next time I write from behind these bars to you, The Public. If you have any questions or comments feel free to respond.
Until pen meets paper, Stay safe and Enjoy life!

Letter from the other side.
Dear Readers,
Greetings and Salutations! I hope these words find you all in the best of health. I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy day to read what I've decided too share with you about this place I call home.
I'm new to a lot of this so please bare with me. Hopefully you will have as much fun reading about this place I call home and those of us who live in here, as I do writing about it. You will read about many different types of people I've seen around prison, and even get a chance to hear some crazy stories from inside and outside this place. I'm sure you'll even find a laugh or two along the way. I can't help myself, I do all the time. It helps me stay sane =).
I guess I should get around too introducing myself. My name is Victor Kyle Lizardi, aka Lucky. But to officials I'm just Lizardi, or inmate #261379. I'm am currently serving two life sentences without the possibility of parole with a few extra decades tossed in for shits and giggles. Now, let me reassure you folks, its not for anything crazy. Just your average run of the mill charges we tend to catch in this Arizona Desert. Like stolen cars, armed robbery, guns, and can't forget the murders, those are important to some people. I promise folks I might have been...Ok,I was a very bad boy, but I'm now really good man...Ok, decent man =)
The idea to start writing to you 'The Public' came from a friend/mentor of mine. He thought I'd be good at it and people would like my writing. So ever since I've learned read and write I've found I enjoy it a lot! I hope all of you think I'm good at it as well and continue tunning in to read what I write!
I know what most people think of prisons an those of us locked inside them, but let me assure you folks, most of you are wrong. Trust me its nothing like the movie Shawshank Redemption or American Me. Haha, and it's not some twisted version of Mad Max's Thunderdome. Although it would for sure, make things more interesting though. If we made our way through the chow hall suspended from bungie cords with makeshift weapons. Or better yet Thunderdome for a chocolate hunnybun, haha two men enter, one man leaves with the hunnybun =)
Come on folks this is real life, not Hollywood! Reality is that prison is really boring, unless you enjoy playing cards and watching tv. If that's the case you'll have the time of you life.
If I've piqued your interests in what really goes on behind these bars tune in and find out. As you find yourself reading my letters and find yourself with any questions or comments please feel free to write. Im only a letter away, or now an email )
Thank you for taking this time out of your day to spend with me, and know your time is always welcomed and valued! Hope you've enjoyed the first of many letters.
Until pen meets paper, Stay safe and Enjoy life!
