“What options do I have besides suicide?”
this is NOT an “alternatives to suicide/coping methods” post. it’s “what do we do now?”
1. have hope and keep trying to do good
do what you gotta do to make it through this week
be brave and be kind; we are still here
survive for the people who have survived before, and to spite the people who want you to despair
call a hotline
when you are miserable, make something; it will change the world
2. it might not be over yet
check whether your ballot was counted, you’re allowed a few days to fix errors
it might just be a signature mismatch
fix your ballot if someone made you vote for someone you didn’t want to
good things happened in this election too
more positive ballot measures passed
3. the way out will always be community
bond and organise with your community
engage in community activism
the way forward is together; anarchism starts in the now
you’re still allowed to stay/get sober, and you’re allowed to take precautions if you’re not sober
do your own trans healthcare

You’re probably gonna feel a lot of feelings tonight and in the next couple of days. Don’t make any massive life decisions until the initial feeling of dread has passed you. I’m making this post for myself as well as others. If possible wait until your head has cleared before you operate heavy machinery

When i was like 13 was allowed to use the internet unrestricted for the first time and i spent a lot of time on Runescape. One of the people i talked to on there was this person who had much higher levels than me in every skill and had, to my perception, a seemingly overflowing amount of game resources. One day i was taking about wishing i could get gold ore to level my smithing and not having access to any and they like “here, you can have this gold that i have” and just gave me this big stack and i was like “i don’t even have anything to offer back”. They told me they didn’t need anything and just wanted to be nice. I said that they didn’t have to and what they told me honestly has stuck with me since, they said “life’s too short to spend it being mean to people” and like it’s such a simple thing to say but combined with their actions and the weight they bore to me at the time was hugely influential on my outlook on life and the way i treat others. I don’t know who that person is but they changed my life that day and I’m so thankful to them.

Has anything actually gotten better, for all the work you talk about doing? Or is it just treading water in misery forever?
Anon, ten years ago gay people couldn't get married in large parts of the US. AIDS was an almost certain death sentence when I was in high school. I was looking at job boards the other day and found a part time gas station job that had health insurance as a benefit, which NEVER would have happened 15 years ago. When I was a kid, hitting your child was extremely normalized in the US and my parents were the weird ones for not doing it. There is a vaccine for chicken pox. I didn't meet anyone who had transitioned until my 20s because it was so uncommon to transition in the aughts, and now there are some states that protect your right to have gender affirming care provided by your health insurance. It's not all states, but it's better than the number of states that had it in 2010, which was zero. THERE ARE TENANTS UNIONS NOW. WE HAVE A VACCINE AGAINST CERVICAL CANCER.
And all of that has been the work of a lot of individuals and organizations and research teams and activists.

1,179 suicides today. 2,114 yesterday after the election (source). please check in on your friends and loved ones, even online friends. check in on them even if they seem happy and okay. if you’re considering attempting, don’t. I know this world is fucked up, especially right now, but for what it’s worth, the fact you are still alive means you’re a fighter and a survivor. you’ve made it this far and if no one else tells you, I am proud of you for being alive. it takes fucking strength and courage, and look at you still being here. give yourself some credit because you are so much stronger than you think. yes, everything fucking sucks right now. but you will get through it even if it doesn’t look like it right now. it will eventually get better. I really truly believe that, no matter how hopeless or cruel things are right now. I truly believe you will survive and will get to genuinely be happy and truly safe. just please hang in there.
U.S. suicide hotline: call or text 988 (available 24 hours)
U.S. trans lifeline: (877) 565-8860 (when you call, you’ll speak to a trans/nonbinary peer operator. full anonymity and confidentiality)
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline: 1-800-662-HELP (4357) – provides 24/7 confidential support and referrals for individuals and families facing mental health and substance use disorders, including panic attacks and anxiety.
LGBT National Help Center: (888) 843-4564

To my fellow American Citizens
The answer to despair is action!
Please read:
Reblogs help reach more people, if you cannot help for whatever reason you can still reblog and that makes all the difference!
Tumblr media
Image transcript:
YOU CAN CONTACT THE WHITE HOUSE DIRECTLY:
Go to this website https://t.co/nhEejuzfG3
Submit directly to the president
Click the first option, select your reasoning as election security
State these pieces of information in a paragraph:
32 fake Bomb Threats were called into democratic leading poll places, rendering polls to be closed for at least an hour
A lot of people reporting their ballots weren't counted for various reasons that are not very sound seeming. (Signature invalidation, information that vote counter could not have had)
This all occurred in swing states. (PA, Nevada, Georgia, ETC.)
This is all too coincidental that these things happen and swing in his favor after months of hinting of foul play.
Directly state that an investigation for tampering/interference/fraud is required, not just a recount.
