Obsession with power – a fatal flaw?
“The beauty of The Greek mythology is that it tells us what not to do in the stead of what to do!”
This state-of-the-art world that we live in today, isn’t so state of the art after all, our minds are still very archaic. The idea of power for the Greeks as well as the modern world has been romanticized at every instance, which inevitably became their fatal flaw. If we go back to the holocaust, the eternal ceaseless yen for potence became Hitler’s fatal flaw, his yen for world dominance, hegemony was what became his greatest fall and the same can be witnessed for all of the Greek gods, they were so blinded by the haze created by their superfluous need for hegemony that they couldn’t see past the autogenous daze and in the end they themselves condemned them to be swallowed by the unforgiving darkness.
We humans are mere euphemisms of the Greek divinities, our every emotion is heightened when it comes to the Greek gods as they each represent a particular emotion felt by humans.
We can say that Hitler was a euphemism of Zeus, both were extremely similar with their attributes.

“The songs all speak of the rage of Achilles.
But what of his love?
It was not his rage that brought Hector to death
But his love.
It was not wounded pride that fueled his fire
It was a broken heart”
Love has always been more powerful than hate

Soulmates
“According to Greek mythology, humans were originally created with four arms, four legs and a head with two faces. Fearing their power, Zeus split them into two separate parts, condemning them to spend their lives in search of their other halves.”

““Genuine beauty is always quite alarming.” I looked at Camilla, her face bright in the sun, and thought of that line from the Iliad I love so much, about Pallas Athene and the terrible eyes shining.”
- Donna Tartt
It’s so beautiful, that when Richard talked about beauty, he didn’t mention the obvious but Athena - Who was terrifyingly beautiful and also the goddess of wisdom.
