“The afternoon flew by — quiet, unnoticed. The book slipped out of my hands, and I looked around the room — how many hours had passed? two, or three? — the room basked in the warmth of the summer sun. It, most certainly, was past four...”

signs you've outgrown your friend group ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ 🧸
growing apart from friends is painful but sometimes necessary. here's how to know it's happening:
you feel drained after hanging out you used to feel energized by your friends. now you need to recover from seeing them. you feel like you're performing a version of yourself that no longer fits.
they still want to do the same things you've outgrown. they still have the same conversations about the same people. you feel stuck in a time loop.
they don't support your growth (!!!) they make jokes about your goals. they roll their eyes at your boundaries. they preferred you when you were struggling because it made them feel better about themselves.
when you share good news, they find ways to diminish it. when you set standards, they call you "picky" or "too much."
you have nothing in common anymore different values, different priorities, different lifestyles. you're moving toward your goals while they're moving in circles.
you want to talk about books, they want to gossip. you want to build, they want to complain. you want growth, they want comfort.
they gossip about each other (and probably you) toxic friend groups thrive on drama, judgment, and talking behind each other's backs. if they gossip about others to you, they gossip about you to others.
you feel like you have to pretend you can't be your authentic self around them. you have to dim your light, hide your progress, or shrink yourself to fit their comfort zone.
what to do: it's okay to outgrow people. not everyone is meant to be in every season of your life. you can love people from a distance.
set boundaries about your time and energy. you don't have to cut people off, but you don't have to stay close either.
find new friends who match your current energy and values. people who celebrate your growth instead of resenting it.
loyalty to people who no longer serve you is disloyalty to yourself.

how to internally glow up for summer — a full guide

summer is the perfect time to slow down and check in with yourself — not just physically, but emotionally and mentally too. this isn’t about routines or aesthetics; it’s about small, personal shifts that help you feel more grounded, clear, and in tune with who you’re becoming.
1. get clear on who you’re becoming.
ask yourself,
• “who do i feel most like when i’m not performing for anybody?”.
• “what energy do i want to embody this summer?”
• “what habits make me feel whole?”
making a pinterest moodboard of your future self can help you get a clearer image.
2. detox from noise — not just digitally.
• mute people who trigger comparison, not inspiration.
• pause trying to fix yourself every day.
• give yourself silent mornings or device-free evenings to hear your own thoughts.
3. track your becoming, not just your future.
• track your inner growth, not just your outer goals.
• note whenever you have done something you were trying to achieve.
4. let your feelings guide you.
• when you’re feeling a big emotion, stop, and recognise what you’re feeling.
• recognise why you are feeling this way.
5. rewire how you talk to yourself.
• everytime time you catch a mean inner comment, pause & reframe:
“im so behind” — “im still building. andthat’s brave.”
“i look gross today” — “my body isn’t my worth. my energy is.”
• write new affirmations that feel believable.
“im slowly becoming someone I trust.”
“im learning how to treat myself with the love I give others.”
a real glow-up isn’t about becoming better. it’s about returning to who you actually are, underneath the noise, shame, and pressure. you don’t glow because you changed. you glow because you stopped hiding.
