10:25pm 9/30/24

it’s almost 10:30, I’ve been drinking since there isn’t much else to do during this waiting period of regaining electricity/water due to the hurricane. I’m in my feels because of yet another stupid boy. Man?(he’s the same age as my best friend from highschool, but what defines a man?) Whatever that I managed to fall for the second I met him. another man a long time ago captured my heart but I will always feel like it’s the “one that got away”. And now when I came back to augusta from college I met someone else, who i unfortunately dated for 5 almost 6 years but it was actually his friend. The first person from his friend group that I met. and it sucks because in that moment I had so desperately wished I met him instead. But I learned a lot of lessons with my ex and I guess I’m glad I know them now.

Now that guy and I are in a friends with benefits situation and my feelings are falling hard for him. And I want to talk to his brother so bad about it. Because we’re really good friends and it just bugs me that he wants to hide it from everyone. I don’t know where I’m going with this, but if I have people out there actually reading this, manifest for me that he’ll actually tell me his real feelings.

Meditation is not what you think. You sit in absolute silence and your mind starts going over all your movies. During that process, you become so familiar with the scripts you keep in your life that you end up getting sick of them. Then you realize that the person you think you are is nothing but a complicated script you spend most of your energy on. After a more thorough examination, you discover your personality disgusts you, and that’s because it's not really you. If you feel terrified enough about that personality, you spontaneously allow it to fade away. Then, if you're lucky, you can experience yourself without the distortion of that personality. There's so much talk about the mechanics of happiness - psychiatry and pills, positive thinking and ideology - but I really think the mechanism is there. All you have to do is get quiet for a moment.
