My Summer Vacation at Camp Reel Stories
My Summer Vacation at Camp Reel Stories
With summer well behind us, I thought it was a good time to share a story from this summer. I might sound like a gushing teenaged girl, but I don’t view that as a bad thing! Think of it as enthusiasm!
I just LOVE teaching media production to youth so MUCH! It’s soexhausting and exhilarating at the same time, but it’s usually worth it! Check out: “I’m Fine,” made by Missfits Films, the…

It was a real honor to have my tribute to beloved film professor and change maker, Lise Swenson used in this article for #TheGuardsman. What a beautiful and fitting photo of her!

“We understand for all the emotional and physical challenges this situation presented we have been among the lucky ones — this illness-pirate, unlike in so many cases, never stole his ability to recognize those that were closest to him, nor took command of his central-gentle-life affirming core personality. The decision to wait until this time to disclose his condition wasn’t vanity, but more so that the countless young children that would smile or call out to him “there’s Willy Wonka,” would not have to be then exposed to an adult referencing illness or trouble and causing delight to travel to worry, disappointment or confusion. He simply couldn’t bear the idea of one less smile in the world.
He continued to enjoy art, music, and kissing with his leading lady of the last twenty-five years, Karen. He danced down a church aisle at a wedding as parent of the groom and ring bearer, held countless afternoon movie western marathons and delighted in the the company of beloved ones.” -Jordan Walker-Pearlman, Gene Wilder’s nephew.
-Jordan Walker-Pearlman, Gene Wilder’s nephew.  Thank you, Mr. Wilder for making my life richer through your work. May you be happy. May you be at peace and ease. May your heart, body and mind be free.

Check out my friend K.L. Thomas’ new podcast, “Let’s Chat Comedy” for WeMakeTheFunny.com. K.L. is a performer and producer based in New York City. She produced the Sketch Block, a monthly show and was the creator/host of the Sketch Block podcast, which ran for several years.  (via Let’s Chat Comedy – Peter Michael Marino & SOLOCOM (Podcast))

#RestInPeace #LennieBaker, hometown hero, storyteller and sax player. Lennie went to my alma mater and was famous for being in #ShaNaNa.
I got to know him a little bit back when I lived on Martha’s Vineyard, where he also lived. Hitchhiking was my mode of transportation back then (one of the few places I would ever attempt such a thing).
He’d pick me up and we’d chat. I remember one ride during the summer of 1994 after I told him I wanted to move to Santa Fe. He told me that I would love it there; how beautiful it was, especially those sunsets and how he drove around the desert high as a kite on mushroom, mouth agape, just gaga for the fantastic desert colors during a summer sunset.

Great interview with the one and only Patti Smith! Smiley is always an engaging interviewer. I saw Smith at The Fillmore a few weeks ago on her 69th birthday! It was well worth the money! Such a great, engaging performer. She played for over two hours (take that Indie/Punk bands!) and Michael Stipe opened for her. It was super sweet. This entire interview is just lovely. What a consummate student of culture and life. He’s so present, honest and engaged. Look at Bowie’s body language and then the Jeremy Paxman’s.

Here’s another tribute to Mr. Bowie. Kegel Kater performing Golden Years at the World Infamous Trannyshack! I shot this video in 2011. Forgive the video quality. It was done on Mercy Fuque’s mini dv camera, so definitely not HD, but it’s got heart, I tell ya!  (via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_mbkJuOKEg)

"Looking for a room with a bath in Munich." - Photo by Thomas J. Brennan. My favorite photo my father took during his time in Germany during World War II. It captures both his wry humor and the mass devastation. #veteransday #armisticeday #november2015 (at Munich, Germany)

At the end of the day yesterday someone shouted that the praying mantis they've been watching over the past couple of weeks was giving birth in a bush in the garden of the school yard. The entire third grade went nuts over it it! Several kids stood there and yelled excitedly while other kids chastised them for upsetting the mantis with their yelling. Their enthusiasm was contagious and sweet! #november2015 #sanfrancisco #paralife #elementaryschool (at San Francisco, California)
