I starting masking out trash for the rubbish design, but when Mr Leong came we assign everyone which their individual work. Mr Leong told us that we are lacking behind in terms of time and that we should start doing all the technical work. We need to get our matte painting, modelling, roto, compositing and tracking by Friday 25 August.
We discuss how should the matte painting looks like, which shots will have matte painting and which shots need to roto. We then discuss and assign ourselves with what we should do. I was assign with roto and animation.
I pass my transparent file of the masked out trash to Deccar, since I no longer need it and Deccar is in charge of the rubbish design. Save her some time to mask out the trash at least.

We went and reshoot half of the shots and one that was missing previously.
Aqilah went and put the shots together. Mr Leong came and approve our shots, so no more shooting. He pointed out that the panning scene may be hard to pull off the matte painting in and that we should do nuke 3D camera track. We only learn one point and four point tracking so Mr Leong show us how to do 3D camera track in nuke. We can now work on the technical part of our work.
I finish up my part for previs.

I organize the shooting plan and wrote down important points to take note during the shoot such as maintaining continuity and taking clean plate.
We went and do the ‘real’ shoot. As we setting up the rubbish design, we realize that the school only have blue rubbish bin and we only have blue screen for key out. In the end we didn't put any rubbish bin and plan to model it out. We ask help from some classmates and lecturers as a calefare for our time lapse scene.
We spent more than half the day shooting. We went back to class once we done and Aqilah went put it shots together, only to realize that we forgot to take one of the shots.

Aqilah and I went to research some stock footage for the rubbish set up. I went to search green screen of stray cats, rats and cockroaches.
We went and retest shoot with the new storyboard, together with a little of the setting and the props. It starts raining halfway so we were a bit rushing to finish it up, and didn't have a proper continuity.
While Aqilah went to compile and put the shots together, Deccar and I went to get more boxes for the prop. We realize that we miss out the rubbish shots so we put in the previs shot instead.
We show it to Mr Leong and it was so much better than our last one in terms of story and shots. He told us that we need to get our rubbish set up / design done and that we can go off for a real shoot. He give us a schedule for our shooting, and that is on the 18 August we go for a ‘real’ shoot, work on our rubbish set up / design over the weekends, put it together and show what we have to Mr Leong on the 21 August and confirm everything, do the final shoot on the 22 August. We can still reuse the shots on the 18 August in case.
We finalize what we should bring as props and confirm what we are doing. I switch my role with Adlina, since I understand the storyboard and the shot better. I become the Director and Adlina taking the bts.

We went and test shoot some shots that we are missing and those that need to be fix.
We then compile the shots together.
We show our test shoot to Mr Leong and he told us that we need more actions and reactions for our person, our shots break the 180 degree rule and that we need to get a better shots. He told us what we can do to change and improve.
We re-discuss our whole shots and actions of our story, and I redo the whole storyboard with some main points to note.

Our storyboard is approved, we just have to show that he is not the only one that is contributing to the waste during the time lapse shot.
We discuss on how should we go about with the effects of the rubbish toppling over and the setting of the place. I research some houdini effects that may be of use such as dust particles.
After lunch we did test shoot from about 3pm to about 5pm there. I help in taking bts (behind the scene).
Afterwards we transfer them all to desktop and start putting the shots together. We realize that we are missing quite a few shots to make it seems interesting and the transition to the time lapse before and after is kind of weird. We re-discuss what we can do and so I updated the storyboard by redrawing it for better understanding.

We decided on the second theme “The Last Day On Earth?” We first research on some energy saving related. We thought of doing something related to minimizing waste, so we start thinking of ideas on how we should portray our message.
Our idea was to have a person that doesn't care about the environment and that he litters wherever he wants, damaging the Earths’ surface. Time lapse, the Earths’ surface couldn't take the weight of the waste cause by human beings, causing sinkholes. The person fell into one of the sinkhole, but manage to grab hold onto an underground pipe and survive. As he emerge out of the sinkhole, the world is no longer how it used to be. The world is now full of wastes everywhere. He then realize that he was one of the many that contributes and cause this to happen.
We pitch our idea to our supervisor Mr Leong. He told us that our idea seems unrealistic and that it’s too long. He suggest that the person should get engulfed by the waste instead, since the litters get accumulated and soon lost its balance and drop onto him. This suggest the consequences that he receive.
Hence we change our idea. A person that doesn’t care about the environment litters wherever he wants. The rubbish soon accumulate and with his last throw, the pile of rubbish lose its balance, toppling onto him, engulfing him.
After we pitch in our idea and get approved, we did location recce and discuss the shots while I drew out the storyboard.
