JIMMY -- he has shut himself up, he refuses to look it in the eye like the coward he is, he no longer attempts to fix it. that's someone else's job now.

CURLY -- the captain lies there as he always has, but theres no containing his concern. he whines and screams as he once did but the sound is muted when the mere thought of the solver enters his mind.

"what happened to daisuke?" same as in canon but anya didn't die from the overdose but was too numb to help daisuke... and a certain little drone happened to have snuck on the ship

how do i make a post about how frightening it is to be in the headspace jimmy’s in during the game without people jumping to the conclusion that i’m in any way defending his actions. like so much of the horror is built on jimmy’s unreliable grasp on reality and yeah it makes stuff more vague for us and obfuscates events sometimes but i’ve never seen anyone talk about how fucking stomach churning and scary it would be to be in his head and going through what he’s going through. yes he’s terrible yes he’s awful yes he’s unforgivable but he’s also, at the end of the day, A Man Losing His Mind. people are too eager to overwrite all of his actions as purposeful and malicious manipulation (ie talking daisuke into going through the vent) but it really comes off, at least to me, as this violent unease and desperate grasps for control and desperate attempts at purchase for the real authority of ‘captain’, the title he thrust upon himself and shattered under. he’s just so fucking interesting yk? there’s so much to him there’s so much going ON with him
