ideal living situation is what i call the 'sitcom special' : having all your closest friends live in the same apartment building or neighborhood where you each have your own space but can wander in and out of eachothers homes at will, seemingly always welcome and never at bad times. and also all of you only have jobs when its important to the plot.

In the end the biggest Isayama failure for me was not spending more time on Marley. It should’ve been fully fleshed out as well as the Warriors’ lives in there. At least a half-season of proper Marley shit. We could’ve had good rep of a literal segregated state with state sanctioned police brutality and enforced racism and propoganda taught right from nursery. George Orwell 1984 type style manipulation and paranoia of your own neighbours and control of information and distrust inbused into ordinary life. Contrast all the colours of Paradis Island-the forests and the rivers and the sunsets-with the oppressive grey of Marley and its big buildings blocking out the sun and its grey stone blocking out any wild nature from emerging.

People have written fanfiction between classes, during lunch breaks, late at night when they should be sleeping, on the toilet, and probably in just about every scenario possible. If you are passionate about fanfiction, you will find time to write it. Fanfiction is the epitome of creating for the sake of passion. AI is not. AI cannot feel passion, and it only regurgitates the chopped up ghosts of passions carefully nursed into existence by others. It is a twisted abomination of creative expression.

So I implore you, sincerely, for yourself and for everyone else, write it yourself. Don't use AI. Make something that you can be proud of because it's yours. I know it's hard sometimes, and I know that if you're a perfectionist like me it can actually be pretty anxiogenic, but making that effort is worth it. Using AI is robbing you of something deeply human and special that AI cannot give you, and cannot feel itself.

Creating is difficult, but it is difficult because it is a challenge meant to make you stronger, prouder, wiser, more fulfilled. It isn't a math problem to be solved, or a broken item to be fixed. AI isn't a solution to the difficulty of creating, it is a cheat that robs you of the real, valuable reward of making the effort to create on your own.

What all artists must come to realize at some point is that the journey of creating their art is the whole point. It is not the end product. That is why so many people lose their creative spark; they get too focused on the end and lose the joy of the journey, of the exercising of creativity, that makes it all worthwhile. AI removes that journey. People who care only about the end product are l mills, not artists. That is why there is no such thing as "AI Art."
