Staring at the gates of the castle, Desyat glanced back down at the small note in his hands. The last person he had spoken to had said that there was work here. Never had he actually seen the area and now he was expected to work there. Perhaps. Maybe. If not, he could go back to the mountains and continue catching animals.
Two of the guards had attacked him and now they lay on the ground as he strode closer to the castle. Without much thought, he walked toward the first person he saw. “More attackers are needed here.”

The bear was too big to take down immediately. It was by far the largest Desyat had seen and he knew that such a beast would provide a good deal of meat and fur. However, he could not attack directly. Instead, he had spent the last few days stalking his prey and working to weaken it slowly. Small traps set up along its prospective path had left cuts and others wounds on its body, which bled slowly. Still, it was slowing faster than he had anticipated.
Another person was stalking it as well.
He had yet to see this one, another hunter, he had concluded. Still, that did not mean they were a fiction. He had been trained to spot hidden enemies and had a good idea as to where they were. Until they posed a threat, he had no reason to attack. The priority was the bear. More than likely, when it was weak enough, then they would fight over who could take the best portions. For now-
There!
He saw them. With his attention still partially on his prey, he moved along the forest floor, silent, toward the other hunter. Rather than speak, he stood about six feet behind them, waiting. Would they notice him?

Another slip of the guards at the castle gate meant Lavali had some freedom for awhile, something she cherished the more she managed to steal of it. Whether it was swimming, or wandering the nearby wilderness, she just needed to get out. The Princess knew she could ask a servant to go and get her what she wanted from the market…but where was the fun in that? It gave her an excuse to get out of the building she felt near constantly suffocated her.
After finding a stall that she’d been looking for, she was about to leave when a man turned to her. For a split second before seeing him she assumed he might be a guard, but a second look proved that theory wrong. “Is what…” She looked down at the money and gently put her hand on his arm, in a motion to turn him away from the stall owner as her voice softened. “I’m afraid that money will get you in trouble here, but I will you trade you the same amount in Aeternus currency.” The Princess pulled her pouch out and fished out the correct amount. “This is correct.”

Ever since his civilian interactions with people began, Desyat had only used one form of money. All others were never discussed. He had heard of other countries during his training, but their cultures and such had not been brought up. The hunter knew of other citizens only as people to be killed. He did not hate other countries, had no feelings on them either way actually. What was the point? If he could do what was needed, then that was all he cared about.
He stared down at the money in his hand when she spoke. His body tensed when she touched him and his first instinct was to break her wrist. However, he had learned that not every touch was a potential attack and instead opted to wait and see. Rather than hurt him, she spoke. In return, he gave her a slightly confused look. Why would this money cause issues? As she exchanged it, he said nothing for several moments. “...Thank you... What was wrong with the other?” The mining team had never left his home country and thus that was the only sort of money he had ever used.

The world was...different. He had only been sent out before when there was a reason, when there was someone that his former master had wanted gone. Since leaving the minors, he had mostly kept to himself, only interacting with people when he needed something. They had told him that stealing was incorrect and yet he continued to do it only because he found it to be more efficient than purchasing items.
Inside Aeternus, he had found the market near the main castle. People spoke of war and loyalties and so, so much he did not understand. Desyat moved through the crowd, silent and slightly unsure as he came to stand in front of one of the stalls. Turning to the woman next to him, he produced a bit of Tredian money, showing it to her. “Is this correct?”

SHEST’DESYAT ODIN “DESYAT” UBIYTSA is subject to the new King’s tyranny with the rest of us. As a HUNTER, people often compare him to THE SOUND OF AN ARROW PIERCING SKIN, A LAST BREATH FROM A FROZEN BODY, THE FEAR OF A STRANDED MAN SURROUNDED BY A LANGUAGE HE DOES NOT SPEAK. He is SINGLE PANSEXUAL and is a native of TREDIAN and NEUTRAL.
Bio:
‘Desyat’ is not his name and yet it is the one he knows the most. When he was young, he was taken from his family and forced into what would become the Ubiytsa Corps, a private military run by a nobleman in the north of Tredian. That man’s desire was to create the perfect fighters, starting with children and training them to be nothing more than objects for the country. Or rather, for himself. None of the trainees had proper names. Instead, they were all called by  various numbers depending on which program they were being put through  and when they were brought in. Desyat spent twenty years of his life training under that man, along with a myriad of others. There, they were put through barbaric regiments in order to destroy their humanity and turn them into killers.
However, the abuses were brought to light after fallout between the nobleman and another founder of the program resulted in the secret project being brought into the public light. The private army was destroyed and most of the resulting soldiers captured or killed. Desyat managed to flee into the northern woods, using the harsh territory to his advantage and hiding.
For the next eight years, he lived by hunting animals and surviving only off of what he could obtain, keeping himself hidden from any hunters who might come into the woods. It wasn’t until miners arrived in his territory that he was found. The miners found the ‘wild man’ to be a curiosity and brought him into their camp. They taught him how to interact with others and how to trade the furs and meat he had for money. Slowly, Desyat learned and soon became a peripheral part of the mining group, supplying them with food whenever they were on expeditions.
They brought him back to their town and continued to teach him for another year before he left them, striking out on his own in a country that was his and yet not.
