Evermore by destiny’s lies
Disclaimer: Boku no hero academia and its characters do not belong to me, but Kōhei Horikoshi. Any images used are credited to their original owner(s). ———————————————– Prompt: Bonus Day 2: Shattered—Evanescent ———————————————– Author’s Note: Just an Izuocha drabble to help improve my writing skills. I chose to do evanescent for the prompt. This story is a continuation of this story. I did something slightly different for the synopsis, so that’s something. Also I may or may not have made references to other Izuocha fanfics I’ve read like “Distraction” by the amazingly wonderful WingSongHalo and “Green Gentlemen” by the fantastically talented SevenRenny! ^w^ Anyways, I hope you enjoy this story! It was fun participating in this event! Now I shall pass out. Have a wonderful day/night everyone!
Update: I forgot that the @ is how to tag people and I realized both writers have Tumblr sooo I’m going to do that now! @sevenrenny and @wingsonghalo
———————————————– Synopsis: “I’ll love you evermore.” ———————————————–
Izuku approached the wooden door. He silently gazed at the sign hanging beside it. The sign read, “127.” Three little digits indicated that he was at the right door. He grabbed the doorknob but didn’t turn it.
Part of him wanted to run away but the other part reminded him why he was here. It was no time to chicken out. Taking a small breath, he mustered up the courage to turn the doorknob and walk inside.
The room was painted a pale green as the dull, fluorescent lights lit up the dreary room. On the side of a wall, Izuku spotted curtains that covered the large windows. He walked over to them and pushed them aside, letting the natural sunlight in. A slight smile appeared on his face but it didn’t linger.
He turned to look at the hospital bed.
An unconscious, brown-haired woman laid on it, her body still and hooked up to tubes filled with warm blood. He pulled a chair from the corner of the room and pulled it alongside the bed before sitting down. He sighed as he placed the bouquet of pink flowers in the vase beside her.
He peered down at her angelic face, giving a soft smile. She was always beautiful, whether she was awake or asleep. His smile fell once again. He desperately wanted her to wake up. So he could tightly embrace her in his arms and twirl her around.
He groaned, burying his face into his hands.
We need to make a risky decision here,” her words echoed around in his mind.
“Dammit, Ochako. I just got you back.” He lifted his head out of his hands and gently wrapped a hand around her fingers, raising them to lips before giving them a small peck. “And now I have to worry about losing you all over again.”
His eyes wandered to the pile of flowers sitting next to her.
They were rosemaries.
He hoped that when she woke up, they would be the first things she saw. Maybe it’d help her and make things alright. He yearned for her yet she was right next to him. All those months they spent apart and here they were together again but still divided.
Oh God, how could that trip have gone so wrong?
If he had never traveled to the North Pole, she wouldn’t have had to look for him. She wouldn't be here. They could’ve been at home, making more memories. She was here because of him.
It was his fault. He shouldn’t have left her. A whole year of potential memories escaped them and it was all because of his stupid dream to travel to the North Pole. A gentle squeeze broke him out of his thoughts. He felt a hand comfortingly squeeze his hand. His eyes peered down at his wife.
Her chocolatey, warm eyes sluggishly watched him. “You’re doing it again.”
“Huh?”
“You’re blaming yourself.”
“I mean, if I hadn’t—”
“It’s not your fault, Izuku,” she interrupted, her eyebrows furrowing. “It was my decision to come after you alone in the cold, not yours.”
“You wouldn’t have had to try to find me if I hadn’t gotten lost.”
“Maybe, but think about it, the day I found you is a new memory we have.”
“A sad one,” he remorsefully replied.
“But a memory we have together, right?”
“Yeah, it’s just I wish I never got lost.”
“I know, but remember it’s not your fault, okay? The North Pole is not an easy place to navigate. Heck! That’s one of the reasons why it took me so long to find you...” she trailed off, glancing at the pink flowers. A small smile graced her face. “Thank you.”
“Of course, I wanted to try and bring some color to this room. How are you feeling?”
“Tired…but I’m happy you’re here.” Her eyes scanned across the room before falling on a telephone hanging on the wall across from her. “Hey, remember that time you showed me the first voicemail I left on your phone?”
“Yeah” Izuku shyly blushed, suddenly feeling like he was a teenager again. “You can’t blame me for it though, it’s not my fault that you have an attractive voice. Ochako choked on air, bursting into a small coughing fit. “I guess we’re even again.” He smiled.
“For what?” she asked, feigning ignorance.
“The time you made me choke on the hot chocolate and spray it everywhere.”
“Oh really?” Amusement sparkled in those cheeky eyes of hers. “I don’t seem to remember that.” She stuck out tongue at him, making him laugh.
“Uh-huh,” he replied, unconvinced by her answer.
“I couldn’t help it!” she chuckled. “I just saw the opportunity and took it.”
He rolled his eyes and put his elbow on the side of her bed, resting his head in his hand. “Remember the time when we went to summer camp together?”
“Oh yeah! That was such a long time ago.”
“Yeah…” he affirmed. He peeked back at her, small bits of anguish flickering in his eyes. “Do you remember the time we went canoeing?”
“Izuku…” She sighed in an effort to steel herself. “You know I wouldn’t ever forget about you.”
“The doctor said-”
“Fuck the doctor!” Ochako brazenly exclaimed, her colorful language catching him off guard. “You’re too hard to forget, Izuku. And even if I did forget...I wouldn’t have stopped till I remembered.”
Tears rapidly poured from his eyes. “Yeah, you’re right. The Ochako I know is too stubborn to quit.”
“Exactly!” She broadly smiled at him. “I’m so happy that we’re back together.”
“And soon we’ll both be back at home, making new memories.”
“I’ll love you evermore.”
“Until death do us part.”
Everything would be alright again.

The Cold’s Eternal Touch by destiny’s lies

Prompt:
Day 7: Touched-Starved—Hypothermia
———————————————–
Author’s Note:
Just an Izuocha drabble to help improve my writing skills. I chose to do both touch-starved and hypothermia for the prompt. This story is a continuation of this story. *nervous coughing* Okay…I know this story is a bit late but...listen, how could I not write something for this prompt! IT SAYS TOUCH-STARVED I will freaking write something for this prompt (even if it’s a day late). Anyways, I hope you enjoy it!
———————————————–
Synopsis:
Izuku and Ochako try to keep warm in the freezing cold.
———————————————–
When Ochako found me, we were already making plans of leaving soon and arriving with the others. But things don’t always go as planned. A merciless blizzard was outside of our cave.
It wouldn’t be wise to go through it, but I didn’t mind that much. I had Ochako with me. I sighed and stared at the shivering brown-haired girl curled up to my chest. Part of me did mind though.
The fire that I created had died a while ago. Her lantern stood near us, lighting up the cave, but that was the only thing it was good for creating light. We needed heat quickly, especially Ochako.
I would be alright for some time. Staying in the cold North for a long time caused me to adapt to the harsh climate. I could go without a fire for possibly a few days at a time, but for Ochako...I wasn’t as convinced.
Her teeth harshly clattered together as she fervidly rubbed her hands together. I kissed the top of her head and pulled her quivering body closer into my chest. I missed this—being able to hug her and hold her close. I really missed her.
I looked back at the entrance of the cave. Fierce winds howled, the sound reverberating around the cave. How long would it take until the blizzard ended? The longer the blizzard went on, the longer I grew timorous. As soon as the blizzard ends, I’ll grab firewood for a new fire.
“Achoo!” she sneezed, rubbing her nose with her elbow.
“Bless you. Still very cold, huh?”
She smiled at me, amused at how I wasn’t as bothered by the cold. The mittens she had been wearing had grown damp and chilly. They were useless now. I removed the mittens from her hands and put them aside. Tenderly, I brought her shivering hands up to my lips and gently kissed them before blowing hot air on them in an attempt to warm her a bit more. Her cheeks turned a darker shade of pink.
“T-Thanks,” she said, her teeth still viciously chattering. I took off my wool, winter hat and put on Ochako’s head. She beamed at me again before snuggling closer into my chest and closing her eyes.
“Don’t fall asleep, okay?” I got no response. “Ochako?”
She grunted to let me know that she heard but still kept her eyes shut. I pouted but said nothing else. As I rubbed her back, I softly told her over and over how many times I loved her. A small grin appeared on her lips.
Hours passed, and the blizzard was relentlessly still blowing outside. Ochako’s eyes were still closed.
“Ochako?”
She said nothing, not even a quiet grunt.
“Ochako?” I called out again. Silence answered back. I picked up her wrist and searched for a pulse. Her pulse was weak.
Worriedly, I shook her arm, trying to wake her up. After a couple of minutes, she sighed and opened her eyes again. A dopey smile took over her face before shortly disappearing.
“I dreamt that we were back at home.”
“We’ll get there,” I reassured. I kissed her on her cheek. “I just need you to stay awake until then, okay?”
She nodded and began idly drawing circles into my arm to keep herself occupied. I blew out a sigh and began nonchalantly playing with her hair, twisting the ends around my fingers and pressing soft kisses into the back of her neck.
Her hands fell to her stomach as her eyelids started to droop.
“Don’t fall asleep, okay, Ochako?”
“Ochako? I just feel dizzy,” she whispered, her words slurring slightly. “Why did there have to be a blizzard?” She peered down at her hands and giggled. “They’re red, Izuku. They’re blushing because I’m next to you.”
“Yeah.” I frowned at the sight. She was delirious. “Can you move them?”
“A bit, but it feels weird when I wiggle them.” Her eyes glanced up at me. “Can I close my eyes, now?”
I shook my head. “Sorry, no, Ochako.”
She groaned. “How much longer will this stupid storm go on?!” She angrily crossed her arms, puffing out her cheeks. I found the sight adorable. I hugged her again, burying my face into her hair.
It was silent once again. I made sure to constantly check her pulse and heartbeat.
”Ochako?” I muttered. I waited for a few seconds, and just as I was able to try and call her name again, she responded. I let out a sigh, my shoulders relaxing. “The blizzard has ended—”
Her eyes lit up. “Great! Now we can go—Achoo! Oh no...I have a cold.”
“It’s a bit more than that,” I mused. “We’re not ready to head back, but...we can’t stay in the cave forever like this, especially since you’re not feeling well. You need to warm up very soon.”
“You can go get firewood, Izuku. I’ll be alright.” My eyebrows furrowed as I gave her a skeptical look. “I know, it’s a dangerous choice, but I promise I won’t pass out. We need to make a risky decision here.”
“Okay.” I pressed a kiss onto her lips as she tightly wrapped her arms around my neck. I stood up, taking off a coat to wrap around her. “I’ll be back soon. I promise, Ochako.”
“Love you.”
“I love you too.”

Prompt:
Day 6: Vulnerable—Protector
———————————————–
Author’s Note:
Just an Izuocha drabble to help improve my writing skills. I chose to do vulnerable for the prompt. A friend of mine (she wants to remain anonymous) helped me write some of this story. Okay...so this might be just a “little bit” late but...I started this prompt on the 6th day and I’m not going to let it go to waste! >:T I hope you enjoy it!
———————————————–
Synopsis:
Detective Ochako is faced with a difficult decision. Good thing Deku is there to help.
———————————————–
I shut the car door behind me and took in my surroundings. Broken-down, graffitied buildings stood around me. Old garbage cans littered the streets, creating a foul stench in the air. The doors in the area were boarded up with rotten wooden planks. Signs reading “No trespassing” and “Do not enter” were sparingly placed along the walls of the hollow structures.
The sound of a window shattering caught my attention, and I quickly turned around to see a figure disappear into a dark alley. I shook my head and looked back at the ominous building that loomed ahead of me.
My client had hired me to track down her missing brother. I don’t know the specific or personal details about this person. The man had given me a picture and few clues that I could use to track him down. It wasn’t a lot to go off of, but it was part of the job.
Hesitantly, I stepped forward towards the foreboding warehouse. Compared to all the other buildings, this was the only building that wasn’t covered up with wooden restraints. My eyes glanced down to the door’s abraded lock. It had eroded over time. Without any resistance, the door opened, and I walked inside.
The air inside was stale as a stray breeze echoed through shattered windows that lined the walls. I squinted my eyes to see through the murky blackness that seemed to fill up every corner of the warehouse. Digging through my tan trench, I pulled out a flashlight and turned it on.
A quiet chuckle startled me. Falling into a defensive stance, I stared at the dark figure standing at the other side of the building.
“I assume you’re Ochako,” the voice affirmed. The figure walked towards her, stepping out of the darkness. “I’ve been waiting for you.”
“What do you mean?” I questioned. I hadn’t told anyone of my sudden arrival. I made sure to keep my connections private and limited. How could he have known that I would be looking for him?
He smiled. “I have my ways.”
“Well, whether you want to or not, you’ll have to come back.”
“Oh really? Are you sure you’re in the position to decide that?” He took a step forward, revealing a man and woman tied up, their mouths duct-taped. “When I have your parents?”
My eyes widened in shock at the sight. “W-When did you—”
“I didn’t do anything to them. They’re fine...for now if you play your cards right. Now listen carefully. I have bombs placed around in the town nearby. You can let me go and disable the bombs, saving possibly the lives of thousands. Or you could capture me, saving your parents but killing hundreds in the process.”
I glared at him. How dare he threaten my parents! He had a point though: I was in no position to negotiate. I thought over my options again. My parents or thousands of people? I already knew my answer even though it seemed selfish.
I badly wanted to choose my parents but I had to be practical here. I’m being given the chance to save thousands of people, not even merely a hundred. There were too many lives at stake.
My stomach twisted into a knot. I closed as I took a steady breath to try and clear the discord in my mind. It would be selfish if I chose my parents over thousands of innocent people but…
I let out a heavy sigh as I was ready to say my decision. It was selfish, I knew it was, but I loved them. And I would do anything for them. They were my weakness.
“I’ve made my choice.” I dashed towards the man, pulling my elbow back to punch the scarred freak holding my parents captive.
He dodged my punch, and then out of nowhere, he pulled out a smoke bomb and smashed it onto the ground. Frantically, I waved at the smoke, trying to find my parents. It was only when the smoke had finally cleared that I spotted the creep inside a van.
“You made the wrong choice,” he taunted. “Good luck on finding me again. Hopefully, you won’t take too long, especially now that your parent’s lives are on the line.” He punched the gas and sped away.
“Crap,” I muttered under my breath.
CRASH! I quickly turned around, naturally falling into a defensive stance as I inspected the new threat.
Viridescent eyes gazed back at me. I immediately relaxed; it wasn’t a threat. It was just my partner, Deku. Deku was the name he used when he had to go undercover. He likely had just finished his mission if he was here. I hadn’t expected him to be here so quickly.
He walked over to me, flashing me his charming smile per usual. I waved at him before looking back at the exit where the scarred man had fled.
“I saw what happened,” Deku told me. “I’m sorry...but you need to put your parents on hold, Ochako.”
“B-But! He threatened to hurt them, Deku! You can’t just expect me to not go after them! He’ll—”
“That’s why I need to go after him. You remember the mission I told you about a while ago?” I nodded. “Well, that person who’s holding your parents captive is wanted for killing several people. My mission isn’t over yet. I need to capture him.”
“Then why don’t I go after him?! He has my parents, after all!”
He sadly shook his head at me. “He’ll know that you’ll be coming after him. It’d be better if I went. He doesn’t know I’m here.”
I gritted my teeth. My mouth opened, but no words came out. I could feel the tears trying to escape, pricking the corners of my eyes. Deku wordlessly pulled me into a hug.
“Will you please put your parents on hold, just this once?” he pleaded. I stayed quiet, listening to his words. “I know how important they are to you, but thousands of innocent lives are in danger.”
“That’s what he told me.”
“I’ll make sure that they’re okay,” he murmured into my ear. “I promise.”
I peered up at him, studying his bright, green eyes. How could I say no to those beautiful eyes? I was weak when it came to him. My heart softly thumped in my chest “Okay.”
He gave a grin and hugged me one more time before chasing after the criminal. “I promise!” he repeated as he vanished from sight.
“I know.” I smiled.

Stepping into the Past by destiny’s lies

Prompt:
Day 5: Footprints—Wisdom
———————————————–
Author’s Note:
Just an Izuocha drabble to help improve my writing skills. I chose to do footprints. A friend of mine (she wants to remain anonymous) helped me think of the plot for this story. Sorry that it’s kind of rushed but I hope you still enjoy it!

Synopsis:
Izuku and Ochako visit a place from Izuku’s past.
———————————————–
Cruising down the street, Ochako made another turn at an intersection. She and Izuku were driving to visit Izuku’s mom.
Slowing down to a halt at the yellow traffic light, Ochako gazed at the scenery around her. A large building grabbed Ochako’s attention. It was a school. She wondered if it was the same school Izuku had attended during his middle school years.
“Hey, Izuku?”
“Yeah?”
“That school over there,” Ochako said, pointing at the building. “Is that the school you attended when you were younger?”
Izuku looked up from his phone to look in the direction she pointed at. His lips formed a rigid line, but he nodded.
“Let’s go check it out!” Ochako suggested. “I want to learn more about the school you attended.
“Uh...maybe we can check it another time.” Izuku wasn’t a fan of the idea.
“Why not now? Your mom won’t mind. We have some time to look around.” Izuku talked little to her about his school days before meeting her and the rest of their friends. She knew that part of him was still clinging to his past. She wanted to help him face it.
Reluctantly, Izuku caved in, and Ochako pulled the car into the parking lot. That’s when Ochako noticed something was wrong. Izuku was shaking in his seat, sweat dripping down his neck as he took unsteady deep breaths in and out. She recognized the signs.
Removing her seatbelt, Ochako turned to Izuku, embracing him in a hug. She rubbed comforting circles in his back. She sighed, a slight frown appearing on her face. It was worse than she had thought. She made a mental note to talk with Bakugou later.
Once Izuku calmed down a bit, Ochako drove out of the parking lot and continued back on their way to Izuku’s childhood home.
“Sorry, Izuku,” she apologized. She was just trying to help him move on from his past, not be the catalyst for an anxiety attack. It looks like that would have to wait for another time. “I didn’t mean to cause your attack.”
Izuku glanced at the guilty driver next to her and reassuringly squeezed her shoulder. “It’s okay. It’s not your fault. I know you were just trying to help. It’s just...I don’t feel ready to deal with those memories right now. Maybe one day, though.”
In the rearview mirror, a smile settled itself on Ochako’s face.
“One day,” she reiterated.

Her Lost Compass by destiny's lies
Disclaimer: Boku no hero academia and its characters do not belong to me, but Kōhei Horikoshi. Any images used are credited to their original owner(s). ----------------------------------------------- Prompt: Day 4: Polaris—Compass ----------------------------------------------- Author’s Note: Just an Izuocha drabble to help improve my writing skills. I chose to do compass. A friend of mine (she wants to remain anonymous) helped me with writing the skeleton for this story. Warning, this story was written in a hurry so please forgive me if some parts seem “mildly” rushed or somewhat underdeveloped, but I hope it’s decent enough to keep your attention.  ----------------------------------------------- Synopsis: Lost in the bitter cold, Ochako trudges through the snow to find the birthday gift she lost a year ago. -----------------------------------------------
Ochako stared ahead of her at the barren white desert. Snow clouded her vision as she trudged through the ankle-deep snow. No plant life or animals could be seen for miles to come. She was in the North Pole after all, barely anything survived in the arctic.
That’s what made her uneasy. Her husband had disappeared a year ago when he declared to her that he would go on an expedition in the North Pole. She had faith in him that he would have no problem conquering the South’s polar opposite but when he didn’t come home after nearly two weeks, that’s when she decided something tragic had happened.
They had gone on several rescue expeditions in search of him, but each time they had come back empty-handed. On her own she would secretly travel to find him but all her attempts also ended in failure. She never found him.
But this time she would—she would make sure of it. Pulling the compass out of her jacket, Ochako stared at the arrows and words inscribed into it. That compass was a gift her husband had given to her on her birthday a year ago.
He had teased her about hiding a surprise within the compass but in the past, she could never find it. The distant memory now brought bittersweet feelings.
“I promise, Izuku,” she whispered. “That I’ll bring you home.”
This time would be different, though. She blew out a sigh and continued trudging through the thick snow, keeping a watchful eye on the compass. The arrows rapidly spun in different directions. Her feet slowed to a halt.
This was new. The compass had never acted like that before. She glanced behind her. She had traveled so far. She wasn’t going to give up now!
Annoyed by the interference, she shook the compass but the arrows continued to twirl wildly. She banged the compass against her thigh only to hear a strange clicking sound. She peered back at the compass to see that part of the cover had opened. Inside the compass laid a smaller compass.
A compass within a compass? Ochako thought. A chuckle escaped her. Classic Izuku.
While the bigger compass furiously spun in a circle, the smaller compass pointed in a single direction. She decided to follow the smaller compass instead. She didn’t know where it would lead but she just hoped it would lead her to him.
Warily keeping an eye on her surroundings, Ochako kept her eyes glued to the compass, plodding through the rising snow. After several hours of walking, she arrived at a cave discreetly tucked away in a mountain.
Before entering inside, she took out the lantern that she had earlier packed from her from her backpack. She carefully trod through the mud, noting how deep it was.
A muffled cough caught her attention.
Turning towards the noise, Ochako spotted a man crouching by a small fire, feeding small sticks to the flames. She took a hesitant step forward, grabbing the man’s attention.
He cautiously reached for a weapon nearby. Ochako kept her guard up. She wouldn’t die after trekking so far. She was so close to finding him. Who was this person? Again, she took another step closer, holding her lantern higher to get a clearer image.
Dirt littered the young man’s face as his clothes wetly stuck to his skin. He apprehensively watched her, a wild look in his green eyes.
Those eyes.
She could recognize them from anywhere. Ochako dropped the lantern, the glass frame shattering onto the ground into a thousand pieces.
After realization hit him, Izuku ran towards Ochako, the only person he had ever fallen in love with. Tears welled up in Ochako’s eyes as she dashed towards Izuku and hugged him.
He picked her up and swung her around, joyous, light laughter filling the air as he set her back down.
Now closer, Ochako could now clearly see him. His hair was still crazy but even more so after a year without any trimming. He had put his hair in a ponytail to make it more manageable. A small stubble shaped the edges of his chin.
Her smile faded away. It took way longer than she thought it would. He had changed so much. Her heart began to ache. She had been without him for a year. A whole...entire...year.
More tears trickled down her face at the sad realization. Izuku hugged her, softly encouraging her to sit down next to him by the dying fire. She leaned into him and stared at the red and orange embers that fled from the fire.
For a while it was just silent. Ochako didn’t feel the need to say anything, there was nothing that needed to be said.
A whole year without him, a whole year without him telling her that he loved her. A whole year of waking up in bed alone and him not being there beside her.
Was he even still the same person she loved? They changed so much after just being apart for a year. Just earlier she had not recognized him. She still isn’t sure she really does.
The thought scared her. Would she lose him? After all the time and effort she spent to get him back, would he ever be the same? Would she?
“Ochako,” he hoarsely murmured.
A relieved sigh that she didn’t know she was holding escaped her. He still remembered her name. Her heart fluttered as she leaned in closer to him. “Yes?”
“Remember, I still love you.”
Dammit.
She found herself breaking down into tears once again. She was trying to remain strong for his sake. I mean, he was the one who had spent a year out here in the bitter cold, relentlessly fighting for his life as he was caught in the bitter struggle between life and death.
Embarrassed, she quickly scrubbed the tears in her eyes.
“You don’t need to be strong, Ochako. Not with me,” he reminded her. “That’s one of the reasons why I fell in love with you. You’re always thinking of others.
Ochako sniffed, a smile etching itself onto her face. “Thanks.”
“How did you find me?”
“With your compass.”
“You finally found the hint within it, I presume?”
“Yeah, very clever of you.”
He placed a soft kiss on top of Ochako’s head. “And you’re very clever for finding it.”
A distinct blush appeared onto her face. “I can’t wait for you to come home.”
Izuku smiled. “Me too.”

Great Job, Internet! by destiny’s lies
Disclaimer:
Boku no hero academia and its characters do not belong to me, but Kōhei Horikoshi. Any images used are credited to their original owner(s).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prompt:
Day 3: Haunted—Superstition
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Author’s Note:
Just an Izuocha drabble to help improve my writing skills. I chose to do superstition.
A friend of mine (she wants to be anonymous) helped me out a lot with this story, so thanks! She made it really fun for me to write this. Also, she says, “Don’t break glass.” I hope you guys enjoy this story!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Synopsis:
Izuku knew death was inevitable but he didn’t expect for it to come so soon and be so painfully stressful.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Izuku sat alone on the couch, staring at the television screen. A show about haunted houses was playing. He was never the biggest fan when it came to the spooky and paranormal, but he had to admit, it was interesting to watch.
Multiple pinging sounds echoed throughout his house. It was his phone. Someone must’ve texted him.
With a tired sigh, he got up from the couch and sauntered upstairs to his bedroom to find his phone lying on his bed. He picked it up and looked at the several messages covering the screen.
They were all from Ochako.
A slight smile crawled onto this face. She was always thinking about him. He let his gaze crawl up to the pictures of him and Ochako hanging on the wall. Each picture held a precious memory from their past. He was so lucky to have her in his life.
Holding his phone in one hand, he reached the doorknob. His elbow bumped into a wall, causing a picture to fall onto the ground. The frame broke. His shoulders twitched by the unexpectedly loud volume of the sound. The shattered frame contained a picture of him from his younger years.
He thought nothing of it. He’d come by later to clean it. Closing the door behind him, he walked downstairs, reading the messages that Ochako had sent. She wanted him to go to the grocery store to get some ingredients to make for dinner later. He texted a message back.
Izuku would have no problem with that, he’s done it at least a thousand times. Locking the door behind him, he merrily walked down the sidewalk.
Eventually, he reached the end of the sidewalk. Beside him stood a pole with a button that allowed pedestrians to cross. He pressed the button and waited for the light to turn green.
Once the light turned green, Izuku checked both directions before proceeding. Cars on both sides of the crosswalk stood still, their engines quietly rumbling. Certain that he was in the clear, he walked down the crosswalk. The sound of loud screeching startled him. He quickly glanced in the direction to see a big, black truck speeding towards him. The driver carelessly honked the horn, showing no signs of stopping or slowing down.
Without wasting another second, he jumped out of the way onto the sidewalk. His heart violently thrummed in his chest as he glanced behind to see the speeding truck fade into the distance. He sat on the curb, trying to catch his breath before standing up.
He wiped off the dirt from his pants. A large, jagged hole in his jeans was visible on the side of his jeans.
“Great,” he grumpily muttered. “Just what I needed.”
With a huff, he continued his way onto the grocery store.
                                                         * * *
Returning from the grocery store, Izuku went on his merry way home. The sound of rushing water caught his attention and turned to look at the large pond lying in the center of the park.
I’ll cut through the park. It’ll take me home faster and the scenery looks great.
He walked up to the pond until he spotted a weird object sticking out of the pond. He leaned in to get closer until he felt a shove from behind.
“Whoopsie!” a person exclaimed before timorously dashing away.
He dove headfirst into the pond.
It was nothing to worry about though, it was just a pond. Well, that’s what he suspected. However, when he fell in, he realized the pond was way deeper than he expected. He flailed his arms as the grocery bags he clung to acted like cement bags, dragging him down. Realizing he had to sacrifice his food for his life, he let go of the bags, letting them sink to the bottom of the pond as he swam up to the top.
Emerging from the murky water, Izuku began coughing up water as he took big gulps of air.
“Today…is...really...not...my day,” he panted, trying to catch his breath.
He needed to vent to someone. Thinking of Ochako, he pulled out his wet phone to text her. He pressed the power button in an attempt to turn it on, but the water ruined it. The phone stared at him blankly.
“Are you fucking serious?!” he groaned, clenching his other hand into a fist.
He put away his phone and stomped back home, furious and soggy. The crack of thunder warned him about the impending rain. Then it rained. He began rushing home, the sound of heavy raindrops falling onto the sidewalk.
He stopped running to catch his breath before another crack of lightning struck a few feet in front of him, hitting a tree. He stood there in shock, staring at the charred tree before collecting himself and walking again. He heard a loud shout behind him and turned towards the sound, nearly getting hit by the tree that the lightning struck.
“SHIT! SOMETHING’S OUT TO GET ME!”
He dashed the rest of the way home, locking the door behind him and running up the stairs. He logged on to his computer, trying to get his mind off the disastrous series of events that occurred. His mind wandered back to the frame he shattered earlier.
Izuku decided to look through new frames on his computer to get his mind off everything. He saw a link from a discussion forum that piqued his interest. Curious, he clicked on it and began reading it through.
The guy on the forum was talking about all the things he had experienced. Strangely, all the stuff this guy mentioned he had experienced, all because he broke a picture frame. The post was five years old. He scrolled down the chat to see what the guy did to stop this “curse,” but he didn’t see any updates.
Izuku quietly read the post aloud, “When glass breaks, it’s already too late. Your life is tangled in a new fate. A new life full of despair and agony awaits until you fall and never rise again. That is when the curse breaks but at that point, it is already the end because you’ll be dead.”
DEAD? he thought. All those things that happened to him—they were because of breaking that picture. Another crack of thunder lit up the sky. “I’M GOING TO DIE!” he cried.
                                                         * * *
A few hours later, Ochako entered the house, closing the door behind her. Work had been tiresome and stressful. She closed the door. It was dark. That’s strange, she wondered. Typically Izuku is up at this time waiting for me.
She turned on the lights and looked at the couch. There in the murky darkness was Izuku covered in blankets and quivering in fear. His bloodshot eyes stared down at the ground. Her smile fell into a frown.
“Izuku?” she sympathetically asked. “What’s wrong?”
“I’m going to die, Ochako,” he whimpered as he slowly rocked himself, hugging his legs close to his chest. “I’m going to die.”
“W-What? Why do you think that?”
“I don’t know, but someone’s trying to kill me. They’re after me—they all are.”
“Izuku, honey, who’s after you?”
“EVERYONE!”
“They tried to kill me with a truck! They saw me b-but they s-still ATTACKED ME! They want me to die, Ochako!” he panicked, viciously trembling. “T-THE THUNDER! THE THUNDER TRIED TO KILL ME! I UPSET THEM OCHAKO! I UPSET THE GODS! I don’t know what I’m going to do, Ochako. Should I go by a different name? Should I just wait f-for it h-happen? Wait to just die? I’m not going to die, Ochako! I’M NOT GOING TO DIE! I CAN’T DIE! I can’t die by a stupid picture!”
He waved his hands frantically, rambling on and on about the endless possibilities of dying before finally breaking down into tears. Ochako silently stared at him. She walked over to him, sitting beside him and embracing him in a hug.
“Hey Izuku, it’ll be alright. You’ll be okay.” Ochako gave him a reassuring smile. Izuku tried to smile back, but the stress of the day made it difficult.
Ochako gestured towards the door. “I think you need some fresh air. Let’s take a walk.”
Izuku followed Ochako outside, sticking close beside her. The heavy rain was now a drizzle. Ochako liked the rain, it was one of her favorite things. She always carried an umbrella with her.
Together, they walked down the sidewalk and Ochako put away the umbrella when the drizzle stopped. The streets were damp and the air was still scented with the smell of rain.
Ochako giggled as she splashed a puddle on Izuku, trying to lighten the mood. Izuku usually would’ve laughed along with her, but he was too busy watching a large dog. Its leash looked worn and loose from years of stretching it. The dog aggressively barked and growled as the two passed by. It pulled on the leash, lunging at Izuku with blood in its eyes.
Ochako realized what Izuku was worried about, so she offered to walk on the other side of the street, away from the dog.
Then all of the sudden, the dog’s leash snapped and it charged at Izuku. He ran as fast as he could run, adrenaline pushing him all the way back home.
A few minutes later, Ochako arrived, a guilty expression donning her face.
“The dog’s owner told me that he’s never acted like that before, he’s usually a sweet dog,” she worriedly explained. She shut the door behind her and walked over to Izuku, who was anxiously sitting on the couch with his face in his hands.
“It’s alright,” Izuku assured her. “I just must’ve done something to upset him.”
He chuckled nervously trying to reassure Ochako. Ochako let out an exasperated sigh. He was doing it again. She knew him too well, he was trying to hide his problems for her own ease. She wasn’t going to let it go though.
“It’s going to be okay.” She smiled comfortably at him, gently rubbing his back.
“I don’t want to die,” Izuku cried.
“You’re not going to die,” Ochako told him, leaning closer to him. She pulled a charm out of her pocket and placed it into Izuku’s hand. “Here,” she said. “Have this.”
Izuku stared at the rainbow-colored bracelet. “What is it?” Izuku asked, looking down at it.
“It’s a good luck charm. It’ll keep you safe,” she told him. “It kept me safe when I needed it. Now you need it.”
“Ochako?” Izuku stared into her soft, brown eyes, his mouth breaking into a small smile. “Thank you.”
“No problem, honey,” she replied before placing a kiss on his cheek. “Anytime.”

Prompt:
Day 1: Metamorphosis—Marionette
Author’s Note:
Just an Izuocha drabble to help improve my writing skills. I chose to do marionette. If I had a bit more time to work on it, there was more I wanted to add. x3  Sorry if it’s sound rushed because it kind of is. I hope you like it though, someday I’ll improve this.
Izuku stared ahead of him. Cars sat abandoned at the side of the dimly lit street. The streetlights flickered in and out like dying fireflies. It was dark. All the lights in the surrounding buildings were out. No one was in the buildings.
He and the others had made sure that everyone had evacuated the area. The villain they were dealing with was someone he had never seen. Quietly, he walked down the sidewalk, glancing through the empty windows.
This place was a ghost town. Once full of life and people, now lay quiet and still. It was unsettling. He never thought a place could be so quiet. He shook his head. Now wasn’t the time to dwell about that.
His partner was missing. No, his best friend. She had gone on a solo mission and then had disappeared. She had been gone for a couple of days. Of course he was concerned. This wasn’t the first time she had gone under the radar but this time was different.
In the past whenever her location suddenly went unknown, she would at least leave a trail so they could find her. There was no trail this time. Something was definitely wrong. A distant crash caught his attention. He ran towards the sound, mindful of how much noise he was making. He didn’t want to give his location to the villain.
He hid behind a wall and snuck a glance. His pupils shrunk. He dashed towards the cracked object lying on the ground. He bent down and picked it up. It was her helmet. He glanced around. Where was she?
“Ochako?” he hesitantly called out. Another loud crash occurred several feet away from him. He sharply turned his head towards the sound. She was around here! He stood up and quietly walked towards the sound of the crash. “Ochako?”
“Deku,” a quiet voice said.
If it wasn’t for the absolute silence, he might’ve not heard her. “Ochako, keep talking. I’m coming over to you.”
“I’m over here.”
He followed the sound of her voice to an alley. A cold shiver went down his spine but he shook it off. Now wasn’t the time to let his fear get to him. He tried to peer through the inky darkness. He stopped walking. “Ochako?” he called out once again.
A figure slowly out of the darkness. Brown, matted hair stuck to the sides of her face. He froze, paling at the sight. It was Ochako. Blood and sweat clung onto her as she took feeble steps towards him. “I’m right here,” she said with closed lips.
She stared downwards at her feet. Her mouth is closed? But...she wasn’t the one speaking! He took a jump back as a heap of bricks fell in front of him, separating him from Ochako. He took a breath in. They weren’t the ones alone.
“Deku...please. I’m right here, help.”
He felt his stomach tightened. Ignore it. Whoever this villain was, they were trying to use her against him. He couldn’t fall for it. In hindsight, he should’ve gotten the name of the villain’s quirk instead of blindly rushing into rescuing Ochako.
Limping slightly, Ochako walked over the pile of bricks and extended a hand out towards him. “Deku help, why won’t you help me?”
Ignore it! He kept his distance as Ochako neared him. He looked upwards. An unclear figure stood at the top of the building. Bingo! He steadily raised his hand at the figure, ready to launch his attack.
“Oh my, you wouldn’t want to hurt her, would you?” a voice chuckled. Ochako gasped, leaning forwards, blocking him from the woman on the rooftop. A loud shriek escaped her. Her arms unnaturally stretched behind her back.
“OCHAKO!”
He carefully looked at her arms. Very thin strings were wrapped around them. She’s controlling her through them. He swiftly strode over to Ochako, cutting the strings with a pocket knife from his suit. Her arms tiredly fell by her sides as she collapsed onto the ground.
“My my, ever the clever one.” Ochako’s foot swung at his head, missing it by an inch. “I’ll have to punish you for that.”
Out of nowhere, strings shot towards them. He jumped back but Ochako didn’t move as they swirled around and enveloped her. Her body stood up on shaky legs. Izuku glanced at Ochako’s eyes. They were empty and hollow. She wasn’t there anymore. How long had this woman been toying with her?
“Attack!” the woman commanded. Ochako’s legs moved forward. Her arms moved back to send a punch to his face. He quickly turned to his side, dodging the punch. He didn’t want to fight her. He didn’t want to hurt her.
Strings flew at him again. He sprung into the air channeling OFA into his finger before flicking it at the woman on the rooftop. She fell back with an ‘umph’ and without wasting another precious second, Izuku cuffed her hands.
It seems like being silent and sticking to the shadows is her style.
Once Izuku made sure the woman was securely tied to one of the streetlights, he bolted to Ochako who was on the verge of passing out. He pressed a button on his suit to alert the others of his location. The two of them sat down on the sidewalk and he gently placed Ochako in his lap.
“Deku…” Ochako muttered.
“Shh...I’m here,” he soothed, tenderly stroking his hair. She leaned into his chest. “You really worried me.”
“She kept telling me over and over that she’ll get away,” her voice cracked, tears forming in the corner of her eyes. “I-I thought you guys wouldn’t find m-me.”
“Of course we’d find you, Ochako. We wouldn’t stop looking until we made sure you got home.”
Ochako briefly smiled only for it to fade away. “It was awful, Deku. Being forced to fight others, twisting my limbs just so it would do her bidding.”
He pressed a kiss to the temple of her head, listening to Ochako talk about the pain she had to endure.
“A-And I couldn’t even do anything!” she sobbed, the tears freely flowing down her cheek.
Izuku hugged Ochako closer, mindful of her injuries. “You were so brave, Ochako and for being so strong. If I hadn’t noticed the helmet you left behind...”
He didn’t finish the sentence but Ochako did. “Then you might’ve not found me…”
“Ochako, with or without the helmet I would’ve made sure to find you.” He placed another kiss, this time on the top of her forehead. “But—I’m glad that I did see the helmet because it led me to you sooner. Do you want to talk about what happened?”
Ochako’s eyes darkened. She shook her head in reply. He didn’t need words to know how she was feeling about the whole ordeal. She was quite shaken up by it and frankly, he was too. He was just glad that she was back and finally safe.
