Networking #2
For networking this week, I couldn’t find any specific events to go to because I became really ill. However, I was able to attend the gallery at CSULB this week as their artists change each week. There were many shops open and I was able to learn how they are able to market their art and sell it through prints, stickers, etc. It was very inspiring.

Critiquing Portfolios
1. Frank Lemus
I enjoyed Frank’s portfolio, I think it would catch the eye of many young creative people. I like the integration between cultural and public spaces to really engage audiences. The only thing I would suggest is that there would be of their work on the home page.
2. Pearl Sripoirung
It’s interesting to see their style of digital art and I think it would really suit animators within the field of marvel looking for someone to design comics or whatever else they might want. The only suggestion is that I would want to see more of their work on the home page as well.
3. Verna Henderson
I love what Vanna has done with her portfolio after her critiques in class, I believe it has really improved. I enjoy the color scheme as well as her work. I would again like to see more of her work on the home page.
4. Fatima K. Mirza
I love how Fatima exhibits much of her work on their home page. It lets me know what type of art they do as well as their style. The website is easy to use as all the links are on top of the website and doesn’t distract from her work which I think would also catch the eye of animators for Disney or maybe video game companies.

Testing my Portfolio
After looking over my portfolio, I would definitely love to have more work to show. I would also like to transfer everything onto an actual website that’s a bit more personalized rather than having it on tumblr. After having my friends see it they would also say the same. Bright things ahead!

Fashion
Clothes are a significant part of one’s identity. My portrayal of fashion along with my style combines themes of human emotion and its connection to pieces of clothing.

Trying to Network This Week
I was able to attend the Long Beach art galleries this week located outside of the Fine Arts buildings. It is an amazing free resource I have heard about and seen, but never explored it myself. It was very inspiring meeting the artists and getting to see their work. I also learned that students like myself can use these art galleries to display our work for free which I think is an amazing opportunity to showcase your work for publicity and just to show it off in general. I did not meet any photographers, but it was wonderful meeting other artists in other mediums.

Landscape/Environment
I am intrigued with environments and how they change through a variety of aspects. My landscapes are experimental and study how environments can be perceived in different contexts such as weather change or throughout the day. The way the world can be perceived can also be altered by editing and through a combination of natural and artificial play creates an otherworldly experience, maybe even nostalgia for viewers.
“Echoes of The Night”
Size: 3024x4032
I went raving in an underground bunker hidden away not too far from a temple. I was interested to see the contrast between something sacred and how it was transformed into something that isn’t traditionally thought of as something religious (specifically EDM). However, the idea that EDM (Electronic Dance Music) creates a community that is an escape from the real world for many is intriguing. In a way creating a religion in itself, where music deepens the meaning of words, opens the mind to repressed feelings, and overall creates pure serotonin or many other emotions that it may bring. That is what I aimed to capture here.
Koi Fish Study No Name Yet
Size: 6000x4000
Study of koi fish in warm and dark lighting. Done and edited through lightroom.

About Me:
My work creates a sense of nostalgia and dream-like infatuations. I also explore themes that are strayed away from my upcoming from adolescence as I become a young adult. With this, I incorporate studies of the body and raw emotion. Overall, creating a complex narrative that creates tension with the viewer.
My process starts with my research. What am I studying and how am I going to portray it? Through my research I am able to gather the important components to achieve a final piece that creates a beautiful thought provoking story or atmosphere.
As a fashion photographer, I aim to capture and communicate the stories and messages behind clothing pieces. My unique style and technique creates an aesthetic that can aid and further cultivate your brand image.

“Bedroom”
