“Why did you decide to marry him?” he asked, even if the question felt silly once it left him lips. “I mean, he’s a half-blood and he’s weird.” The word ‘half-blood’ came out naturally, sounding more like an insult than the word ‘weird’.

Pandora looked up from her book and stared at Regulus for a moment in silence, before simply sighing.

“Why did you decide to date Barty?” then, with a small smile, she added. “I mean, he’s a pureblood and a madman.”

Regulus’ nose wrinkled again, and this time his stomach definitely turned uneasily when he thought of his partner; the one he abandoned months ago to let him believe he was dead. He missed Bartemius more than anything in the world since he woke up, however he had decided that it was dangerous for both him, and for Barty himself, to know that Regulus was still alive.

“He’s different.” Regulus was sure he could rattle off a list of why his relationship with Barty was different than that of Pandora and her husband, but bitterly he summed it up as, “He’s a half-blood, his mother was a filthy muggle.”

“I know.” Pandora nodded softly before returning to her reading, ignoring Regulus the same way she did when Barty or Evan said something especially stupid. Regulus felt a little offended by this. “I know he’s a half-blood, Regulus. But that doesn’t make him any less loved by me. Or do you love Barty any less for being his father’s son?”

“It’s different.” Regulus hissed, and it was his turn to ignore Pandora’s glare.

I am such a hypocrite because I will hear out literally any regulus ship with enthusiasm and probably end up shipping it too but the second anyone tries to ship barty with literally anyone I’m like “but that’s regulus’ boyfriend.”
