An observation of all the "different" approaches to Design Thinking. This is not an anti-design thinking blog. This process can work, but not in every situation. Let’s recognize that there is more to this work than a slick infographic with the same stages we see over and over again using slightly different words. Before we take this process off the shelf, let's stop and consider the "bookends" of this process. Pre-Design Thinking: Who is the right person to facilitate this process? Can they provide innovative ideas themselves? Can it be someone from the community? What are the right questions that need to be asked? Who are the people that need to be in the room? Does the environment fosters creativity and innovation?Post-Design Thinking: How are ideas moved forward once the process is complete? Is it ever complete? Who decides on the final idea? Who has final ownership of that ideas? Is the community still part of the process? If so, when are they brought back to the process? D(F)T is a side project by Marc O'Brien.
