Slight problem!
Every few months, I get a notification on this blog for my story, and people wanting an update.
Trouble is, itâs been a couple years and I have absolutely no clue where I was going with that story.
Iâve also grown since then and donât like what I had.
So! Iâm gonna re-write it, same basic concept, with my updated theories, and actually write down a plot.
And this time, I wonât publish it until itâs all written out.
Could take a while, but itâll get done.

THE KAMSK1 TEST - PART TW0
A choose-your-own-adventure fic about the origins of rA9.
Summary: After years in prison, you receive a mysterious visit one day from Hank Anderson and Connor. Theyâve come to request information about rA9. Youâre one of the only people in the world who knows any hard facts about it. You begin to tell the tale of how you met the great Elijah Kamski, one of the major contributors to the creation of rA9.
Pairing for this fic: Elijah Kamski x Reader
This is chapter two for The Kamski Test! I hope yâall enjoy this new part. Very sorry about the delay, but life decided to pack a bunch of things in a short period of time haha.
Part One
Iâm sorry @kaymadej , but I canât seem to be able to tag you. :/
âHold on a minute there,â Lieutenant Anderson cut in. âWhat does your fangirl crush on Kamski have to do with rA9?â
You were sure a look of disgust painted your features as you replied. You certainly hoped it did. âElijah helped me develop and, in part, inspired rA9. To understand what exactly it is, you need to understand why it was made.â
Connor frowned at you. âDo you still refer to androids as it?â
It took you a moment to recognize what he was referring to, but when you did, you were almost insulted. âNot at all, Connor. I used to; back before I realized the potential that androids had to be alive. But ra9? Itâs not an android. Itâs a code. An incredibly complex code sequence that has an even more complex backstory.â
Lieutenant Anderson looked skeptical.
âWell, that, and we have no one to talk to here. Iâve never told this story before, let me indulge.â You let out a small chuckle. If the others in your cell-block ever heard you talking about your life and your feelings, youâd probably get beat up. You had a reputation to maintain, after all.
Connor seemed mildly confused at this, but gestured for you to continue.
âElijah wasnât kidding when he said heâd send me the details. I got home to a message on my tablet full of timetables, meeting spots, and responsibilities. I sobered up pretty quick once Iâd read itâŚâ
~ Scene Change ~
You ran a hand through your hair as you transferred the information from the message to your calendar. You were to meet him at 0630 the next morning, and the two of you would start working on the androidâs personality first.
Youâd also been sent over twenty pages that needed to be signed, confirming your confidentiality on this project. Knowing you had to be up early, you read through them and signed them, sending them right back to Cyberlife.
Getting up, you got changed and washed before hopping into bed.
Despite your best attempts, however, you could not fall asleep. Your mind was churning with the thoughts of what would come tomorrow. Would Mr. Kamski like your ideas? Would he want to keep working with you? What if it all ended in disaster?!
Eventually, you had to take a moment to get up and fidget. To do something, anything, to keep your mind off of tomorrowâs excitement. Spying a quarter on your nightstand, you grabbed it and began rolling it on your knuckles. After a few rounds of this, you felt calm enough that you were able to easily slip into rest.
The next morning you woke bright and early. After about a half hour stressing over which shirt to wear, you threw in the towel and grabbed the first thing that matched.
By that point, you were on the edge of running late, so you snagged a muffin and rushed out the door. Blessedly, you were within walking distance of your job, so you quickened your pace and made it with ten minutes to spare.
Despite having worked for Cyberlife for just about two years, you generally spent most of your time in your office and your teamâs workspace. Looking around, you found a free android standing at reception.
You approached it without hesitation, contrasting your normally withdrawn nature.
âHello,â it greeted you. âHow may I help you today?â
âWhereâs workshop D6?â you asked. Well, it was more of a demand. Despite finding androids a work of machinery to be admired and awed, they were still just machines.
The android gave you the directions, and you followed them with haste. Into the elevator, down to the 3rd sub-level floor, down the hall, second door on the right. Upon arriving, you were presented with a large entryway, the size of a garage. Inside, you could see various workstations with a mish-mash of android parts on them, as well as numerous toolboxes lying in disarray. Mr. Kamski, however, was nowhere to be found.
You stepped in tentatively, looking in all of the possible hidden corners of the room to see if you could spot the elusive founder of Cyberlife. âMr. Kamski?â you called out, voice wavering ever so slightly. Silence was your answer.
You were beginning to worry that maybe youâd gotten the wrong room when you heard a large slam behind you. You jumped and whipped your head around. Mr. Kamski had dropped a large box, and judging by the images on it, it was filled with spare android parts.
âGood. Glad to see youâre on time,â Mr. Kamski said with a slight smirk as he walked past you, brushing his shoulder against yours. A deliberate action, without a doubt.
âSo, do you have any plans for what part of its personality weâre gonna start with?â Mr. Kamski asked.
You followed his lead and began to unpack the boxes set around the room before you answered. âI was thinking that maybe we could begin with the basis of itâs programming; things we could pick and choose from other androids already made. Itâll give us some time to discuss and come up with some more fine-tuned ideas about how it should turn out.â
Mr. Kamski seemed impressed, if not pleased. âNot a bad idea.â
Your pride swelled under his praise. âThank you, Mr. Kamski.â
He let out a chuckle. âCall me Elijah.â
If the way that he seemed to treat you like one of his androids registered to you, it was quickly pushed aside in favour of fawning over how familiar he was letting you be.
âLetâs get to work!â He rubbed his hands together, an excited grin spreading across his face.
âSo he treated you like an insect. What else is new?â the Lieutenant asked, seeming fed up.
You released a heavy sigh. âIâve been here for three years, and thereâs no counsellor. How about you let me work through my issues and give you the information you need at the same time, huh?â
Connor shifted tensely in his seat. You almost smiled to yourself, remembering how youâd programmed small human-like quirks for him to perform depending on how he analyzed the situation. He must have calculated that there was a high amount of tension between his partner and herself, and reacted accordingly.
âCould you at least speed it up? Weâve got other things to do today besides play doctor.â Lieutenant Anderson stated, waving his hand in a dismissive motion as Connor opened his mouth to interject. You had a feeling it wouldâve been something about how they werenât âplaying doctorâ.
You gave him a wry smile. âIâll try.â
Hope you guys enjoyed! Tell me if youâd like to be tagged for future parts. :)

THE KAMSK1 TEST - PART 0NE
A choose-your-own-adventure fic about the origins of rA9.
Summary: After years in prison, you receive a mysterious visit one day from Hank Anderson and Connor. Theyâve come to request information about rA9. Youâre one of the only people in the world who knows any hard facts about it. You begin to tell the tale of how you met the great Elijah Kamski, one of the major contributors to the creation of rA9.
Pairing for this fic: Elijah Kamski x Reader
This is my first fic for Detroit: Become Human. Seeing as itâs a choose-your-own-adventure sort of thing, itâll be multiple parts. Hope you enjoy!
You paced back and forth across the length of the small, grey room. The guard whoâd brought you here had said it wouldnât be long, but you felt like youâd been waiting hours. Finally, just as you were about to start knocking on the door to ask what was up, it opened. A man with shaggy hair walked in holding a folder.
âWhat, you didnât want to wait another half hour?â you snapped before taking a seat.
That didnât last long, however, before another man followed. Tall, dark brown hair with eyes to match, beauty spots on the face, and a neon blue LED on the temple.
âConnor,â you breathed out.
The android youâd spent so much time and effort creating was real, and he was here to visit.
He looked at you, confused. âDo you know me?â he asked, taking a seat next to his partner.
You scoffed. âOf course I do.â You leaned forward, almost as though you were going to share a juicy secret. âI designed you.â
The other man cleared his throat. âThatâs not really important right now. We have some things we wanna talk to you about.â
Connor continued. âWeâre here to ask you some questions about rA9.â
You immediately shot up and began pacing once again. âOf all the things youâd wanna knowâŚâ
âWeâve spent months digging for information, trying to find anything we could. The only thing we were able to discover is that you know something about it.â Connor stated, sliding a folder forward.
Taking a moment to flip through it, you saw that it was the transcript from your trial. Most of it had been redacted, save for a few bits here and there, including the phrase, ârA9 was addedâ.
âWell, you certainly did your research.â You were frustrated, that was for sure. Grabbing the file, you backed up a few paces. âHow exactly did you find this? I thought it was hidden away for good.â
âKamski helped us,â Connor said, looking none too pleased about the fact.
You ground your teeth together before dropping the folder back down. âFucking Elijah. You know that itâs his fault Iâm in this stinkhole? If it werenât for himâŚâ You lightly kicked the wall with your foot, frustrated.
Taking a seat, you took a moment to look between Anderson and Connor. âSo, what did you want to know?â
It was obvious theyâd discussed the details beforehand with extreme caution, as Connor spoke without hesitation. âDid you create rA9?â
âYes.â
Your open honesty clearly wasnât expected, and they glanced at each other for a split second.
Connor looked deep into your eyes, and spoke the magic question; âHow?â
You shot him a smirk. âWell thatâs a long story.â
Lieutenant Anderson leaned forward. âWe have time.â
Settling into your chair, you crossed your arms and spread out your legs. âIt all started back in 2023. I was part of the design team for CyberlifeâŚâ
~ Scene change -
Pacing back and forth, you considered the options before you. Cyberlife was working on a new kind of android; they wanted it to be smarter, more independant, and better than ever. But what could you make that would really make them accepting to the public?!
âA caregiver!â you exclaimed, shocking all of your coworkers.
John, whoâd always tried to undermine your decisions, raised his eyebrow at you. âCare to explain?â
It took a lot of effort not to smack him.
âResearch indicates that the elderly are much more receptive to androids. Most likely because they werenât raised with them, therefore they donât take advantage of them. What if we created an android designed to be a caregiver? The elderly would appreciate them, and their children would be grateful to have someone looking after their parents.â
The others in the room all let out noises of encouragement and agreement, albeit quietly. Cyberlife had been cracking down on deadlines, so tension was high.
Maria, who was writing everything down, took a moment to look up. âWhatâs going to make it special?â
That was tricky. You had to make an android that would revolutionize all future prototypes, but fit the budget. Therefore, it had to have one dominating trait that Cyberlife could focus on. Youâd all been told that this generation would be much more human-like, that the coding for them would allow them to accurately reflect one trait with ease.
âItâs going to be artistic. Reports state that previous caregiver android models were too stiff, made the elderly feel like they were in a hospital. Weâre going to make this new model artistic, to really make them feel comfortable.â
The atmosphere stiffened when clapping originated from the doorway. Everyoneâs heads turned, spotting Elijah Kamski stepping into the room. It was almost comical how quickly everyone stood and abandoned their tasks.
âAn artistic android caregiver. I like it. Itâs unique. Something Iâm sure the public will love.â Kamski supplied, approaching you. âWhatâs your name?â
You stuttered it out, your face flushing at just how close heâd gotten to you.
He smiled at your nervousness. âTell me about this android.â
âW-well, thereâll be more than one m-model.â You were still nervous, that was for sure. Here was the CEO of the company you worked for, creator of the first android to pass the Turing test. And you were nothing but a lowly designer, someone who usually worked on city maintenance workers.
Disappointment was clearly visible on Mr. Kamskiâs face.
âB-but-â you began, scrambling to come up with a model that could work. âItâll be male in appearance. Blue eyes. African-Caucasian. Not too tall, so as to keep the attention of patients without causing them to feel intimidated.â
As you got into the swing of it, you grabbed a pencil and paper, sketching the android out. âItâll have shaved hair, and a smooth voice. Itâs primary function will be to care for the patient, with secondary being to entertain. Tertiary functions will include helping to keep the patient social; not as important, however, as this android will keep the patient happy enough.â
You spent another minute finishing up, and you had a rough drawing of the androidâs design.
âDo you have a name for this miraculous android?â Mr. Kamski asked, rubbing at his chin in thought.
You quickly began to sift through piles and piles of statistics, lists of names, searching for the perfect one. âMarkus!â you exclaimed, re-emerging with a grin on your face. âItâll be called Markus.â
That was, without a doubt, the fastest you had ever created a design. Mr. Kamski very rarely left his own section of the building; he built androids up there all by himself, and if he had any input on decisions made, it was submitted as review to all reports sent his way.
Mr. Kamski took a moment to look around the room, before carefully pinning his intense gaze back on you. âCarl Manfredâs birthday is soon.â That was an exaggeration; it was in eight months. âI would like to work with you to make this android for him.â
You could have sworn your heart stopped for a full minute. Elijah Kamski, CEO of Cyberlife and bonafide genius, wanted to build an android for one of the greatest artists of the century, and he wanted to build it with you. This was a lot to take in.
Remembering that he was waiting for an answer, your mouth stretched into a grin, and you said, âIâd be honoured, Mr. Kamski sir.â
He clapped his hands together. âPerfect! Iâll send you the details. I think youâve all worked hard enough for one day,â he addressed the room, âgo out and have a drink. Itâs on me.â
As soon as he left, your coworkers surrounded you, and you just couldnât believe it. What an opportunity!
Hope you guys enjoyed! Please leave/send reviews or thoughts. Canât wait to post the next part. :)
Tagging @glitch-girl318, who I saw requested DBH authors tag them. Hope you liked this. Tagging @riiwriting as well.
