The icon of Extreme Humility does not introduce us to someone who suffered the pain of the nails and succumbed to his wounds, but reveals the serenity of the King of Glory, who rests in the peace of love. He was nailed to the cross, offering himself voluntarily, that is, without resisting what they did to Him, and showed us that His love for us is above our worst actions.
The Lord did not return the blow to those who opposed Him. His victory does not consist in seeing His enemies dead at His feet. He has no enemies. He does not see man as His enemy, even if he opposes Him. He sees man in his sickness, not knowing what he does:
“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (Luke - 23:34)

Hey, can I get some prayers for my grandpa? He has cancer and dementia and is declining very rapidly. We're planning on celebrating an early Easter with him this weekend, this will probably be the last holiday we have with him. Just pray that his final days are peaceful and without pain, and that my dad and I can arrange for him to receive final confession and last rites.
Prayers for my grandma too please, she's been his primary caretaker and is dealing with so much right now.

Throughout the day, try to remember God more often. If you feel bad, turn to Him: "Lord, I feel bad, help me." If you feel good: "Lord, glory to You, thank You for this joy." If you are worried about someone: "Lord, I am worried about him, help him." Whatever happens, turn it into prayer.
St. Ambrose of Optina
