I’m doing concept designs based on Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials for my grad project! This one is Mr Lee Scoresby! Hester will have her own page. This was mostly focusing on clothing.

Part 2! These are some of the later designs. None of these got used, but it was a lot of fun working on this project!

These concept designs were for a friend’s hack and slash game project that never happened, though it was super fun to draw these guys!

A bunch of good old fantasy inspired buildings! Everything you need to defeat the Dark Lord is here: a smithy to forge your sword, a library to pick up some knightly wisdom, a dock? because who doesn’t need a boat... A butcher to keep you fed (I personally have not heard of a vegan knight), a witch hut to get some health potions from in exchange for your soul, aand finally a prison, because you need to stick that Dark Lord somewhere after you catch him!

This was a submission made for Vancouver Mural Fest that didn’t get in. Sad face emoji.

This was done for the same class! A comic book cover for a ridiculous tiny story where a random space guy crushes into Hagrid’s pumpkin patch- that happens to be on a deserted planet!

I’d been ignoring Tumblr lately, but I’m back! This was a class assignment from last summer. We had to write and illustrate an additional passage that would be inserted into Through the Looking Glass, and the illustration had to be in the style of original Alice illustrator John Tenniel’s etching work. I chose to write about a giant fluffy otterfly:

“At that very moment the brook turned into a wide and choppy river flowing cheerfully. Strong tides hit the jagged rocks on the shore so merciless that Alice could not advance any more. Right then she spotted a giant otter with butterfly wings waddling by an awfully tiny oven baking a meringue pie. 

Oh, Giant Mr Otterfly!" woefully poor Alice cried.  I'm in need of your expertise To fly like a bird with the breeze Over this swollen water Help me please as you are half otter!

Otterfly thought for awhile, then replied with the widest smile: I will indeed give you a ride If you can bring me lemons For my delicious meringue pie 

So Alice searched high and low to complete the otter's dough. Soon she spotted a lemon tree, and picked them up with utter glee. The creature peeled them fast and poured the mixture to the cast. Satisfied with the result, Mr Otterfly expanded his wings river wide, and took off high into the sky with Alice riding on his back. They hit the air with a loud whack and soared into the clouds. With the help of the otter’s big wings they soon reached the other side of the water, and Alice said goodbye to the giant creature. She was rather sad that she couldn't stay to taste the pie, but she had to go on.”
