A study focused on why deforestation rates have slowed in Indonesia and the Brazilian Amazon revealed that political will was a critical factor, often as a result of pressure from civil society and diplomacy to conserve forests. The authors surveyed the expert opinions of researchers, policymakers and advocates working on forest conservation in Brazil or Indonesia. In Brazil, experts said government action — like satellite monitoring and recognizing Indigenous lands — was key to stopping deforestation. Indonesia’s forest conservation success comes not just from political will, but also from corporate efforts and pressure from civil society groups.

made an amazing breakthrough in my research last week and did a ton of writing and rewriting, and im supposed to submit final revisions today, but. the grief started sneaking in :|
#the flowers from the funeral started dying so i emptied the vase on monday and i think it unhooked the Sadness latch. unforch#honestly wasnt even thinking about my grandmother i was thinking about andrea g.ibson dying a month before her 50th birthday#and then about missing so many goodbyes for people who have died lately. missing the goodbye by sooooo little time every time#just seems a waste to not do everything you can. to not risk looking like an idiot just to tell people you love them too often#god i've been crying for eight hours i have done ZERO work today whoops

The world is violent and mercurial — it will have its way with you. We are saved only by love — love for each other and the love that we pour into the art we feel compelled to share: being a parent; being a writer; being a painter; being a friend. We live in a perpetually burning building, and what we must save from it, all the time, is love.
Tennessee Williams

two million people starving to death because it's geopolitically convenient and we're all expected to go about our day normally like the casual cruelty on display for the past two years has been so insane to me like i'm not even trying to make a point it's just truly something i can't wrap my mind around
