     quinn   stared   intently   at   herself   in   the   mirror,   fingers   gripping   the   edges   of   the   sink   as   she   leans   against   it.   she   was   dizzy   all   of   a   sudden,   as   if   the   buzz   that   was   slowly   creeping   up   on   her   had   flooded   her   head   all   at   once.   with   a   hard   swallow   she   turned   on   the   sink   before   leaning   over   it   and   pouring   a   handful   of   water   over   her   forehead.   puck’s   low   blow   had   landed   right   on   a   sore   spot   of   her   unresolved   emotions   about   beth   that   were   bubbling   up   and   a   general   feeling   of   emptiness   that   was   reinforced   by   the   careless   comment. 

     she   wants   to   cry   as   she   stares   at   herself   in   the   mirror   of   rachel   berry’s   basement   bathroom,   drying   off   her   forehead   with   a   hand   towel.   she   wants   to,   simply   because   it   feels   so   ridiculous,   but   she   can’t.   she   feels   like   she   should,   though,   and   she   doesn’t   know   what   to   do   with   that   information.   not   until   there’s   a   knock   on   the   door   and   rachel   herself   makes   her   presence   known.   it   must   be   the   alcohol,   but   quinn   only   hesitates   for   a   moment   before   unlocking   the   door   and   opening   it,   making   it   clear   she   won’t   stop   rachel   from   entering. 

     “   i’m   FINE.      ”   she’s   short,   but   she   has   to   keep   her   angry   drunk   in   check.   at   least   with   rachel.   she   didn’t   do   anything   wrong.   “   puck   thinks   he   knows   how   to   get   me   worked   up.   he’s   kidding   himself.   ”   projecting   much,   quinn?   “   it’s   hot   in   there.   i   just   needed   to...   cool   down...   for   a   minute.   ”   /   continued    @ofberry

    quinn   rolled   her   eyes   at   him,   arms   crossed   stubbornly   over   her   chest.   “   it’s   obvious   what’s   going   on   there,   so   i'm   just   looking   out   for   a   fellow   girl.   ”   curse   him   and   his   ability   to   read   her   like   a   book.   she   frowned,   head   turning   slightly   to   avoid   making   eye   contact   (   he’d   be   sure   to   see   through   her   then   )   as   she   paused,   carefully   thinking   about   what   she’d   say   next.   obviously   it   wasn’t   about   sectionals.   with   kitty   in   her   ear,   it   seemed   like   quinn   was   having   deja-vu   when   she   looked   at   marley   and   she    felt   obligated   to   step   in.  kitty   had   TOLD   her   jake   was   being   pushy,   and   it   was   clearly   affecting   marley!   it   was   easier   to   just   blame   it   on   concern   for   the   glee   club,   then   no   one   would   she   how   personally   she   taking   it,   how   protective   she   felt   over   this   girl   because   they   were   the   same.   clearly   it   was   more   obvious   than   she   thought,   so   what   she   said   next   was   critical. 

“   there’s   no   REASON,   ”   she   lied   smoothly.   “i’m   just   trying   to   be   a   good   mentor.   finn   needs   a   win   right   now.   so,   what   ulterior   motives   could   you   possibly   be   accusing   me   of   right   now,   puck?   ”

     “ so i guess they put some crazy shit in the water at yale considering that mess of a moment we had in the hall back there. ” he motioned quickly towards the halls of mckinley before turning back to the blonde he knew oh-so-well. “ there a reason you got all pokey at jake ? it can’t really be because of sectionals. jake and marley are big kids. they can handle themselves. ”
