UTAU Voicebank Release - PU-03

PU-03 is a bipitch CV Japanese voicebank for the UTAU engine. She is recorded at G4 and D4, and has extra samples for basic multilingual support.

Been sick for the past few days and wanted to make something. Ignore the fact that the quality of the vocals changes between the first and second verse. I think I know what happened but I can't be assed fixing and re-rendering lmao.

I don't know why I decided to use an Arpa VB, I hate using them. No knocks against Bennett ENG, it's a good bank! I just hate Arpa outside of SynthV.

Anyway, I had a USTX sitting in my files and I wanted to procrastinate on needed a break from my schoolwork sooo... here we are. If you're wondering why it's only the first half, that's all there was on the file and I can't be assed charting the rest at the minute.

Unlike DelphicDraws, don't expect any new posts from now on. I'll do it if I feel like it. Which isn't often.

So I decided to make a cover of Still Alive from Portal using Eleanor Forte AI Lite in, like, 2 days but when I exported the file it did this. And it doesn’t sound that bad?

Actual version coming when I get it to export properly and upload it to Soundcloud.

Anyway, uh, this is basically me saying, “Hey, I haven’t forgotten about this, I just got busy.” It’s also my first attempt at doing either of their voices properly, so naturally it’s a bit shit.

I think I’ve almost got Austin’s tone down, but the pitch most certainly ain’t it, chief. I’ll also likely have to start overenunciating in some lines to make up for the glitchy stutter/pitch edits. I am definitely going to pitch down Eteled’s lines in editing ‘cause I have practically no low range and there is no way I could keep my voice that low for a full recording session lol.

finally decided to use my soundcloud instead of tumblr so that I didn’t have to keep making mp3s.

Anyway, I’ve been working on this for a while. Mostly when I get tired of working on my other projects. I’ve got vocals, but I don’t quite like my tone in them. Might re-record tomorrow and see what happens.

Also, the OGs will be pleased to know that I did some live flute playing for this.

So I decided to scroll through my side blogs as one does and noticed that I never released a “final” version of that Marionettes cover I was working on.

Still not a final version, but I’d have to basically scrap all of the work I’ve done to have something actually decent. So I decided just import the current version of the vocals, play with the mixing so that it was slightly less shit, and then call it a day.

Before anyone says anything, yes I know the vocals are scuffed as all hell. I literally did this in one take and rushed the editing because this is not supposed to be the final vocals. The reason I’m not releasing this with Eleanor Forte’s vocals like the last post was because apparently there’s timing issues that I need to fix aaaaand I can’t be bothered to do that right now.

Anyway, I decided to use this cover as an opportunity to learn how to use a DAW (also known as: not Audacity). I stole tastyforReal’s MIDI for the piano which I then had to split the left hand and right hand because the DAW I use didn’t use separate tracks for despite the fact that they are supposed to be that way. I also used the in-built beat maker for the drums. I’ll probably create a separate beat for the chorus later.

Seriously though, this was a test I threw together before going to bed and it’s sounding pretty alright to me. I’m not done tuning Eleanor though. I’ve still got some shaky bits to work out in the pitch and I haven’t started on anything else, but here, take some content!

Last minute Halloween thing! Literally! I did the recording and some of the editing this morning and just finished a few minutes ago.

Before anyone asks, yes, that is me trying my best to sing in Japanese. Yes, I am a Vocaloid fan. Yes, I am aware that my pronunciation is probably shit. And no, I could not be bothered finding translyrics.

Anyway, I just got around to listening to A Guy That I’d Kinda Be Into and I love it! And then I decided to use it as a mixing test ‘cause (in case you can tell) I have no clue what the fuck I’m doing.

Also, no backing vocals or dialogue between Jeremy and the SQUIP because I’m lazy.
