“You don’t have to transition you can just be an effeminate man!” is the funniest take to see constantly on tumblr because that is literally word for word what my conservative catholic parents tried to tell me to stop me from transitioning. Are you sure that’s who you want to be agreeing with?

Just to be clear, Kamala conceded with grace and dignity but it is still well within everyone’s right to demand an investigation and even a recount with due cause despite a winner being declared. U.S.Americans have the right to demand free and fair elections (we don’t have a right to, say, start an insurrection like certain people did after the 2020 election).
Many, including major swing states, (Nevada, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and more) have already admitted to data and ballots not being recognized or lost and are recounting or calling for a recount. It usually takes days to count and record votes, a day after a bunch of election tampering is not enough.
If you used a mail-in ballot and haven’t yet, check if it was actually counted and “recognized.” A lot of mail-in voters from swing states found out that their ballots were uncounted today.

So, I guess as a middle range millennial, I now get to tell all you young queer kids that what you are feeling right now is exactly how it felt in 2004 when we re-elected George Bush, and not only that but many states put in bans against gay/same sex marriage at the time.
This is probably not comforting, but it is true, and it helps me when I feel hopeless: For every revolution there is a counter revolution, for every step forward there is a step back, that things may not be good forever but they will not be bad, either. That we clawed our way to get where we are and we can claw our way forward from here, too. Talk to your queer elders, the ones who have been here before and will be here again and who threw bricks at Stonewall.
When I was a child, if you got AIDS it was a death sentence. Now it isn't. Now you live on.
So I'll quote angels in america: You are fabulous creatures, each and every one. And I bless you: More Life. The Great Work Begins.

There are 8 years of new voters since Trump took the White House in 2016. That is the generation that will change the world.
Find them. Inspire them. Tell them their vote matters and is important.

And if you asked them what they thought of the Inflation Rate or GDP or any other economic indicators beyond consumer prices, every single one of them would be ignorant about everything except Interest rates and consumer pricing being back to prepandemic rates. They don't understand Trump's tarriff policy would raise the price of all imports. They dont understand that the FED is slowly bringing down the inerest rate to make sure everything else is stabilized. They only voted for grocery prices and their misunderstanding about how the economy works.
tbh foreign policy was listed as the least important issue for exit polls, arab and muslim heavy states like minnesota and michigan are not what lost harris the vote, and jill stein got under like one percent. everyone making this about leftists who didnt vote either pro or against is making something out of basically nothing. americans are fundamentally boring and apolitical and above all completely self centered. they do not give a fuck about the suffering of people in palestine or ukraine. they just know that gas was cheaper 4 years ago or whatever. the amount of incredibly normal people i know who arent even right wing so much as just sort of uneducated and incurious about any issues / had no interests beyond like big ten sports or binge drinking or getting ahead at work and getting rich are voting for him not people who agonized over a single thing ever. this is unfortunately a non issue bc americans dont care about anything but themselves, you just happen to be around small groups of the exception

"my daughter is hard because i have to micromanage all her emotions to make sure they're correct."
This probably contributes greatly to why autistic girls mask and blend in with their peers.
"i just feel like boys are easier" -- parent who is going to emotionally neglect their amab kids

Get off your couch and go. It took me less than half an hour to early vote last week. We have to flood the ballots.
PLEASE VOTE. IT MATTERS.

Often during the filming of his reality show The Apprentice, Trump would fire the wrong contestant on a whim or just because he forgot/didn't realize which contestant he was supposed to fire.
Instead of reshooting the scene, which they knew Trump would refuse to do, the producers had to cobble up a mangled and manipulated edit to make the fired contestant appear to be doing worse than they actually did to make Trump's objectively incorrect decision appear reasonable.
This is what the American news media had been for Trump's political career since 2015.

This is the second time in my voting history that I’ve participated in flipping a red seat in Alabama for Democrats (the previous time being my beloved Doug Jones) so it’s always funny to see people turn around and say voting doesn’t matter when I’ve seen it twice in the past ten years flip seats in what is supposed to be safe Republican country. Republicans are digging their own grave with their radicalization and it is making them lose (and with your help we can make them lose harder). Vote.

"Keep trying new things and keep doing what you like while it's fun" is probably the best anti-aging advice after "always wear sunscreen."
i’m so tired of people around being being tiktokified and instagrammable and aggressively beauty and anti-ageing focussed “i need glass skin” “i need to purge my cortisol” “i have toxic estrogen levels” “i need a 16 step shower routine” “i need a 2k face light mask” “i need to only eat grass fed organic pure octopus from the slopes of the Andes” you NEED to be hobbymaxxing actually.

Just saving for later. No wool for me, but the other...
So my sister wants to start sewing more, because
a. She’s 5′ 11″ and can never find pants long enough for her legs or shirts long enough for her arms.
b. She hates synthetic fibers as much as I do and it’s difficult to find natural fiber clothes that aren’t made of cotton
c. She’s a biologist and would physically fistfight microplastics if given half a chance
So her gift from mom and dad for her birthday was a sewing machine. Not a super expensive one but a good solid serviceable one.
And recently she asked “So where do I GET wool or linen and thread that isn’t polyester” and mom was like ‘go ask your sister’
And I, of course, crashed into the group text like “GET A PEN I HAVE WEBSITES FOR U” and honestly I’m thrilled about this
