The coating of Alvalade metro station is a notable example of volumetric illusion. On a tiled base plane in a tinted manganese tone, Maria Keil designs ornaments that develop vertically in meanders and which, thanks to the gradation of color, from white to lilac, gain volume, standing out from the background. Sometimes, the same ornament is presented on a light lilac background, as seen through openings practiced in the walls.
