A Nagging Welcome Home Theory
With everyone else posting their theories, I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring. However, I'd like to point out something that I don't think many others have noticed, or publicly commented on.
Tumblr media
This fucking thing. I have seen many comment on it, but not quite make the same connections. Like many of the other bugs in Home, I think it pulls a main motif from other neighbors. I think this thing- this Buggle as it is called in the file name, is a stand-in or representation of some kind for Barnaby.
Okay, okay, stay with me. The three points that stick with me about this thing. One, it's a dog toy. That seems extremely deliberate to me. Why not make it a plush toy? Why a dog toy if it wasn't important to connect to another dog? Secondly, most of the words are ripped out, but one stands out. "Grow-a-pal". Call it far-fetched, but this gives points to the Barnaby association. We all know that Barnaby is a very big dog; and not to mention, he's Wally's best pal. It made me remember this trivia fact listed on this dedicated wiki page.
Tumblr media
And last but not least, the Buggle seems to have very dog-like mannerisms. If you've seen any dog stomp something down it seems strikingly similar to what the Buggle is doing. Much like dogs after digging...
Tumblr media
"BUT JANEY!", I hear you cry. "What the hell does that have to do with ANYTHING!?!" To that, I say, a hell of a lot! But just keep the fact that Barnaby and the Buggle's tie together in mind.
Tumblr media
Julie mentions that the flower that won't bloom is far away from Sally's stage. I wonder if we'd be able to find this possible flowerbud in the neighborhood?
Tumblr media
However, there's no sign of this black flower. I have seen some theories that the footsteps behind Julie's house must lead to that flower. However... I believe that's incorrect. I believe it's a red herring. It feels too close to Sally's stage; which is right next door to Julie's house. Perhaps it's the path Julie and Frank took to meet her siblings instead. However... if you do look around.. There is something... Strange.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There seems to be a very suspicious looking pile of disturbed dirt nearby Barnaby's house. The flower overtop of the mound almost makes it feel like a grave. Tying this fact to the fact the Buggle is connected to the black flower's destruction in some way... I can't help but wonder if Barnaby was involved with burying this secret.
It's not the first connection we've seen between Barnaby and digging either. If you look back in the news posts, in the Homewarming update, the WHRP leaves off with a bit of an... Odd joke.
Tumblr media
Considering that Homewarming was the big update before Springtime Salutations, it feels like a deliberate crumb that was left for the future. Not to mention it's barely a joke, and more of a fact.
Tumblr media
I'm more and more sure of the fact that Barnaby is a helper to covering up things that could get the neighborhood in 'trouble'. Note again that Wally uses "we" when describing what is going on in the neighborhood. I think this 'we' at least includes Barnaby as well, considering how close Wally and Barnaby are. Wally mentions him twice in the same recording.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am particularly suspicious about Wally mentioning the phrase 'you scratch my back, I scratch yours.' A phrase that shows a reciprocal help. Which could mean either doing something unpleasant, or something someone is unable to do. I think Julie fits both of those boxes. I think Barnaby buried the flower for Julie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Additionally, Due to Wally and Julie both mentioning 'trouble', and WHRP looking more and more suspicious for silencing Wally; I'm even more suspicious of the fact the unbloomed flower looks quite a lot like Marlo's logo.
Tumblr media
Lastly, I think the box image posted on awayfrompryingeyes is the Buggle. I believe even the name of "Buggle" is a pun of "Bug" and "Beagle".
I am not sure of what to make of this beyond these facts and connections I've made, but I believe the next update may center around Barnaby.
Tell me what you think of these connections as well! Maybe I've missed something myself. Na razie!

RTVS PALESTINE FUNDRAISER 2, April 11th - 13th
Tumblr media
Beginning Friday the 11th, RTVS will be holding another 3-day weekend fundraising event for the people of Palestine.
It is a tragedy that Palestine is still enduring the same nightmarish conditions that they were this time last year. There has been little to no improvement in things as Israel continues to break ceasefires and block incoming aid as they try and continue their genocide. We would like to once again rally our community and as many others as we can reach to give what support we are able to to Palestine's people.
Like last year, the event will not be a traditional stream fundraiser, rather than pointing people at one donation point, we will be suggesting a number of different recipients for support. However, this year may be organized slightly differently than the way we did it last time; more information regarding that will be shared in the next few days once we confirm our plan. Overall, it's the same idea: all donations to Palestinians and aid groups will be tallied into our grand total for the event.
The all-day, all-weekend streaming event will once again feature a rotation of hosts from Radio TV Solutions putting on all kinds of events. Themed segments, classic segments, crazy gameshow-type beats, chill segments, gaming w/ Da Whole Crew and MORE await you. The event will be hosted at http://stream.rtvsfundraiser.live/. Mark your calendars, tell your friends, and GET READY!

4/14/25 "Song of Songs" "Do you remember, love, the words we spoke?"
I might as well share this, too. I've had this idea for a year now. So moody! I shouldn't draw Frank Frankly (or anything) from memory. It's been too long. All of the sketches are based on this image:

Yknow
I lived in a small town once. Though I guess it was too big to actually be called a town, but it had that small town feeling. And honestly, living in a small town makes you feel like you’re living inside an organism. Like, the town itself is alive, in a sleepy, eldritch way.
There are eyes everywhere. You are constantly being watched. And with bored neighbors come rumors abound, you better keep quiet and stay in whatever line they’ve created unless you want to be the designated social outcast.
I think Welcome Home is a metaphor for that in a way. Amongst many other things I can’t begin to explain as I don’t know. But the fact that Wally watches so intently? The implications of nearly every other character playing a part, following a line drawn by, what, who? Home? As if they’re forced to be puppets—both literally and figuratively— in order to keep some semblance of “reputation” or peace?
I think Frank being the final girl is fitting, because his “line” is being frank. Not sugar coating. While he plays into some lies, it’s clear he isn’t playing wholeheartedly. He’s much more closer to being authentic.
Idk, these are just musings. We still have much to uncover, but I’m betting the man unafraid to call things as they are will eventually butt heads with the worst of it. I just hope he “survives”.

Fake flower theory
I know the leading theory right now regarding the flower Julie can't get to bloom is that it's a black tulip,—a winter flower—and that makes 100% sense and is probably the canon explanation.
But
has anyone considered that this specific flower is clearly artificial while all the other flowers Julie talks to in the video are real? What if the reason Julie can't get it to bloom is simply because it's a prop, but she doesn't realize that because, well, she herself is a prop—being a puppet and all?
What if this flower is what gets her to realize the unreality she lives in?

I'm gonna ramble about Welcome Home
For previous updates I've liked to submit my analysis to The Neighborhood Watch's public speculation forum thing - but since that's more or less being shuttered (congrats to the mod on moving from fan to staff!) I might as well scream into my personal void. Seems thematic.
I want to talk about Sally Starlet.
Spoilers for the most recent (april 2025) update
So to recap the running theory, after the Homewarming update I theorized that Sally is more aware of the situation than she lets on. In that update, Eddie is excluded from all the holiday stories on the main site, and we see in the hidden content that this results in him being isolated, literally in the dark, and mentally spiraling. It was immediately notable to me that it was Sally who called out to him, yanking him into the storybook/cartoon style and giving an explanation for his absence that isn't backed up by any of the other content or the following events. She claims everyone worked together to give him a day off, but this isn't corroborated in any storybook or radio bits, or mentioned at all by another neighbor at the party. And when Eddie is at the party and continues to spiral, completely isolated in his own pov, Frank snaps him out of it - after Sally brings Frank over.
Furthermore, in the Macabre Menagerie story, Sally is comedically frustrated by her neighbors failure to recognize her niche costume, but when Eddie arrives and doesn't just recognize the classical theatre tradition her costume is from but displays an in-depth understanding of the classic novel his own Frankenstein costume is drawing from, she dismisses him coldly. There was some speculation that this proved Sally dislikes Eddie, but she saved him - twice! - in Homewarming, so that doesn't add up.
Now in the Springtime Salutations update, we get hard confirmation that even when the stories aren't acknowledging it, the adaptations are plays Sally is putting on. The hidden videos see Julie confirm Sweet Briar was experienced by the neighbors as a play. And Sally cast our poor comphet besties, Julie and Frank, as the romantic leads. Which she evidently does a lot, according to their neighborhood profiles.
So this only cements for me what I already thought: Sally is, on some level, aware of the role everyone is supposed to play - and like a good director, she's doing everything she can to keep them on script and in-character.
The neighbors seem to start really experiencing The Horrors when they break character or otherwise step outside their roles. Wally is the deepest in it - and he's an audience surrogate and guide... with no audience. He has an innate sense for the presence of a viewer, I don't think that's the effect of The Horrors on him, I think that's just how he's supposed to work - if the gags and gimmicks of the Welcome Home media is 100% material reality to the neighbors, then it only makes sense that Wally, who is supposed to directly interact with the viewer and respond to them directly a la Steve BluesClues, can actually see/hear what we're trying to tell him through that fourth wall. And he gets sunk deep into The Horrors if he has no audience to interact with. We hear him get agitated when we won't respond. He's pissed that the Restoration Project scrubbed his eyes and ears off the site in the reboot. And now that he's been cut off from us again, the one fresh, direct interaction we got with him - he's acting extremely off from how we've known him. But I digress. Maybe I'll make another post about my read on Wally.
Eddie is supposed to be a very simple, working class, good ol country boy with a clumsy streak. Him being very well-read and conventionally intelligent breaks that character. In reality, of course those aren't contradictory traits - but in a character meant to fulfill a simple (and mind you very old - this show is from the 70s, remember) archetype, this is a contradiction - an unwelcome subversion. And Sally refuses to engage with it and instead quickly moves the plot along, moves the spotlight away from the "error."
Julie isn't the only character who's a girl, but if anyone in Welcome Home is, she's The Girl Character. She's cheerful, energetic, friendly, her primary color is pink and her costumes are dresses, her heaviest association is flowers, she has a very high-pitched (faked!?) voice - she is Girl. And Sally casts her in plays - other than their The Telltale Heart pastiche (where she... murders her alarm clock... before waking up at the wrong time in the next update........hm.) - where she's playing a romantic lead opposite
Frank! Our poor Frank - who definitely does care a lot about Julie and like her. He's supposed to be "grouchy", but he seems more often amused by her antics than annoyed by them. Actually, with the exception of Barnaby - who to be fair, does more personally antagonize him - he seems much more comfortable and even delighted by the antics around him than his official description would imply. But he was so audibly uncomfortable playing a romance opposite Julie. Not in a flustered, playing your crush's love interest way either. A "I want to crawl out of my felt, if they actually make me kiss her I'm going to walk into the woods and become a tree man" way. But this is, I repeat, a children's show from the 70s. The boy and girl who are best friends becoming a couple is a foregone conclusion. And so, no matter how uncomfortable Frank audibly is and Julie less obviously feels to me (shouting awake before Sally can narrate the foreshadowed kiss), things must be done to sell the pairing. Sally has to tell them they make for a "dashing couple" in their Macabre Menagerie costumes. They have to be cast as Prince and Princess at least twice, implied to be more.
I think, as Home's embodiment of theatre, Sally is a little more aware of the meta narrative than the others. She's well familiar with the idea of a fourth wall. She also is aware that there's something more sinister lurking around Home, stalking the shadows, ready to consume them if they break the rules - don't go out at night, there's a monster scratching to get in and devour you. I think she recognizes the archetypes they're supposed to fit into, she knows their roles and the parameters of them. And I think she's willing to do whatever she has to, tell whatever lies, cast whatever plays, build whatever walls it takes to keep them in their assigned characters. Keep them from going off-script farther than she can improv them back on track from. And I think she's completely fine with the cost of keeping them on script. I think she already confessed to it.
If we're going to discuss hints that Sally is hiding something, we have to address Pedrolino. She's very adamant what her Macabre Menagerie costume is. Very specific. She. Is. Pedrolino. Who is Pedrolino? In commedia dell'arte, Pedrolino's role is as a "wily servant." He does whatever the plot demands, good or bad, kind or cruel, in service of his master's wishes - he embodies "the show must go on," his actions are always first and foremost to keep the story moving forward. He's sneaky about it, and willing to throw others under the bus to save himself from the consequences of the schemes if need be. Sally doesn't present herself in this costume as a hero or a villain.
She is Pedrolino, and she does what has to be done.

I have such a gut feeling we are gonna see Julie rip this flower out of the ground and it's gonna have something in it.
It's reading alien pod or Audrey 2 kinda freaky.
I imagine her pulling on the stem hard, fighting To yank it from the ground and the roots just keep coming up...and uP....and UP-
Or maybe she's stomping on it, with whatever is inside it basically spraying out like a noxious pollen or a gunk that gets everywhere. It's not blood but goopy...it smears and stains and she's losing her mind-
Or even bring back this non canon picture by vlown
Tumblr media
And she uses a hammer or an axe to smash it away.
She takes her frustration out on this thing, her worries, her fears, her anger.
And Frank sees it all. Another neighbor to fall and it hits closer to home.
Tumblr media
even worse I can imagine the consequences of this is the flowers get eyes like the non canon picture
Tumblr media
They saw what she did. She heard them all yelling or screaming as she took out this thing. They would talk in whispers now, more things to drive Julie mad...
God forbid even if the flower was evil or something it wasn't that be such a violent act... I can F E E L the horror of the situation, I can SEEE IT!

Who else is thinking that all the neighbors are not really evil people? This includes Home in some way? Idk. It seems sort of cliche if it was just straightforward villains since most "cartoon characters in horror are either placed in evil or good." But in all honesty, I think how they could all be morally complex instead of being simply labeled.
