How did I got rid of the news addiction?
Everyone knows the news is toxic but still I was addicted to the news specifically Indian political news. Then in June 2022, I decided to take a break from this news addiction.
To break this addiction 👇
I have installed a site blocker on my laptop and blocked all news websites.
On mobile, I have used google digital wellbeing to block all these news websites
I have decided if I have to check the news then I will install the Firefox browser on my Mobile and then once done with the news then I can uninstall it.
Initially, I had to install Firefox twice a day but now I install it twice a week to confirm any news I got from someone.
This way I stopped my addiction to checking the news every 3 hours.

Idea: T-shirts, Stickers for NFT Designs.
Idea: T-shirts, Stickers for NFT Designs. Nowadays we have only NFT for a collection, what if we have a service where users can buy NFT and our service can use this NFT to print logos on t-shirts/ Laptop covers?
Services we can offer :
Stickers
Laptop Skins / Stickers
Mobile covers
T-shirts
Workflow for this NFT service:
We can upload a good design.
Users can purchase this NFT.
We can publish products for this design.
Customers can purchase products and get a direct cut.
The user will get the cut for the same.
Issue:
How we can decide how many prints or products we have to print or produce.
Benefits:
NFT buyers can also promote this because they have the benefit of having a cut/commision on the products.
Scopes:
Movies / Sports Team / Franchise can create NFT and promote their stuff.

Coffee Can Investing Stocks
Coffee Can Portfolio in simple terms can be said as buy-and-forget. The ideology is a bolster for “holding on” or “long-term investment” for investors having problems with long-term investments. (source)
In short Figure out 10-15 quality stocks and then leave the portfolio untouched for a decade.

Which is the best software architecture for a small team?
Before getting the answer to this question let's have a look at 3 major different types of software architecture.
1.  Monolithic  Architecture
According to the geeksforgeeks blog, Monolithic Architecture is like a big container, wherein all the software components of an app are assembled and tightly coupled, i.e., each component fully depends on each other.
In a Monolithic application, every feature is in the same code and deployed on a single server.
It looks like this 👇
Tumblr media
Pros:
Code refactoring is easy.
Cost-efficient in comparison to microservices.
Low latency in comparison to microservices.
Easy to reuse code.
Cons:
Deploying monolithic is complex as small changes need complete code base deployment.
As the size of the project increases the deployment time can increase.
Single point of failure as everything is in a single server, if down then our application is down.
Lots of testing is required for even small changes.
2. Microservices architecture
According to the google cloud blog, Microservices architecture (often shortened to microservices) refers to an architectural style for developing applications. Microservices allow a large application to be separated into smaller independent parts, with each part having its own realm of responsibility. To serve a single user request, a microservices-based application can call on many internal microservices to compose its response.
Tumblr media
Pros
No risk of a single point of failure as every feature has a different codebase and different deployment
Ownership will be easy as a team can own the complete feature.
Scaling up is easier as we have to have a different number of replicas based on feature usage.
Ease of understanding codebase.
You can add different technologies to different microservices.
Cons:
Increase latency of application as communication between 2 different features can be done via network only.
Testing and debugging is difficult for an app as we have to test all microservices individually then we have to test the complete app.
Costly in comparison to monolith as microservices require more resources.
Creating a micro-service for each feature can also cause maintenance issues.
3. Hybrid: Monorepo with Microservices Architecture
Monorepo is a software development strategy where code for many projects is stored in the same repository.
Monorepo with Microservices is having the same codebase for the different applications so that you can have the same code for different deployments as per your need.
This is what it looks like 👇
Tumblr media
Pros:
Code refactoring is easy.
Cost-efficient in comparison to microservices.
Scaling up is easier as we have to scale based on feature usage.
Testing and debugging are easier.
No single point of failure.
Easy to reuse code.
Cons:
Increase latency of application as communication between 2 different features can be done via network only.
Maintenance of the codebase is difficult if it grows very big.
Higher build time.
Which architecture is best for a small team?
Why Monolithic is not good?
One single and important reason is that you can’t have a single point of failure for a complete app.
Why microservices is difficult for small teams?
Fundamentally microservices are worked on the principle of having a single application for single business features and because of this, we can have a large number of services that in the end hard to manage for a small team.
In the ideal scenario, we should have a dedicated team for one service but in a small team, this is not possible to maintain a proper microservices architecture is difficult in small teams.
Monorepo with microservices can be a great choice for the small team, as we can have the benefits of microservices and monolith both the architecture without adding the overhead of multiple services and their maintenance.
Thanks, Aniket and Som for feedback.

YOU ARE CHASING MONEY. BUT DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH?
Note: This is taken from Ankur Warikoo’s Friday newsletter. I have posted to keep my future reference.
YOU ARE CHASING MONEY. BUT DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH?
Look at the world.
Everyday, all of us get up and start living the day.
Most of which comprises either studying for a job, or working in a job.
To what effect?
To earn money.
And why money?
Because money is needed to live in this world.
We need money to buy food, clothing, shelter.
We end the day, all tired, perhaps even disillusioned, dissatisfied, disgruntled.
But we get up again the next day - and start the chase again.
To earn money.
Let me ask you this, how much money do you need to live?
Think about it for sometime.
How much money do you need, in order to live?
When I say "live" I mean have food to eat, reside someplace, and have clothes to wear.
And I'd argue, for most of us reading this newsletter, the answer is - not a lot!
We don't need a LOT of money to eat our own food (if we cook it ourselves), to wear clothes (if we aren't dressing everyday for the MET gala) and to live someplace (if we don't have to buy the place we stay in).
So, if this is indeed true, why are you working so hard for money?
Ohhhh - I get it - to get comfortable.
You know - eat better food, wear nicer clothes, stay in a nice home.
Fine. I understand.
How much money does that need?
Some more than your basic needs. But is it really that much more?
So, why are you working so hard for money?
Ohhh - I get it - to buy things.
You know - the fancy latest phone, the vacation, the car, the sunglasses, the club membership, the cool shoes.
Fine. I understand.
How much money does that need?
Some more than earlier. But how much more?
Does it not bother you, that you do not know the answer to this question?
You do not know how much money do you actually need in life?
To live life the way you would want to?
I ask this question often.
How much money do you need in life?
And I am always fascinated with the answers.
Most people do not know.
The ones who do quote crazy figures. 300Crores ($40Mn) is one that I heard recently.
I bet the person doesn't even know how to spend 300Crores, let alone safeguarding it.
We either do not know how much money we need in life or we want "more than enough, so that we won't have to think of it"
Find the answer!
Here is why:
If you do not know the answer to this question, you will continue chasing a number that never stops.
You will spend your entire life working to earn money, more money, some more money, a little bit more.
Even when you have enough. Enough to stop and not have to work for it anymore. Or at least not to the extent you do.

How I am using Todoist in my day-to-day life.
( I am Todoist Enlightened with more than 13000 completed tasks)
In my case, I have created different types of lists:
1. Repetitive To-dos I created a list called Daily todos which contains all the tasks which need to be done on daily bases like …reading a book of at least 5 pages, morning walk, Brush at night.. etc. As these, all are daily tasks so I kept reminders for all the tasks that help me to get things done.
2. Today List (Automatically created) This list contains the work which I need to be done today. It contains both personal and professional both types of tasks. In the case of todoist, it is very easy to create a “Today List” I just need to set the due date Today for any task from any list. It will automatically come under “Today List”.
3. Specific task type lists I have created lists based on the type.  My list look likes .. “Place near Mumbai to visit”, “Book List”, “Office”, “Movies to watch” ...etc. To things get done I need to just assign the due date then it will automatically come into my “Today List”.
4. Scheduled task list. In this list, I kept all the planned/scheduled tasks like paying bills, paying insurance premiums.. etc. so that I don't have to remember things. When the due date comes these items will appear in my today list.
5. Meeting list. All the meeting comes under this list and I am using zapier and automate.io to creating task from google calendar to todoist. These types of task is very handy when I have to take meeting notes and get reminder at one single place.
6. All other tasks ( dump your thought list ) When I don’t know where to move the task I keep this in default “inbox”.  So to dump my all thought I am using “inbox” and once in a week I move these task in respective place if required.
7.  Read it later.  I am using inbox to read it later list, todoist inbox is my replacement of pocket
Automation
1. Calendar Automation.
All my scheduled meetings come directly to my Todoist, I am using Zapier and automate.io  for the same. Having meetings inside Todoist is convenient to take notes and all to-dos and meetings are in the same place.
2. Slack automation.
For my work I have added a Zapier integration in slack where every saved message from slack comes to my Todoist, using this I can able to track slack messages where I have to reply.
Plus point of using Todoist
1. Very minimalist and easy to use Chrome extension to add web pages in  Todoist to read it later.
Tumblr media
2. Quick add is the primary part of my workflow, I can add tasks from anywhere on my mac.
Tumblr media
3. Karma to keep gamification and motivated to use todoist.

Productivity is having right tool.
I feel the biggest productivity hack is to completely understand the tool which you are using on day to day basis.
I am working in the software industry for the last 10 years and I found people don't use their  IDE ( code editor ) with its full capabilities where they are spending 6-7 hours per day.
If you know the shortcuts and hacks then your productivity increases by 10x.
The whole idea is to save time using the tool if it is consuming time then you should figure out the right way to use a tool or change the tool.
I personally go into detail with tools with all the shortcuts and functionality. Having good UX and keyboard shortcuts is more important than good UI for me.

[Notes] Book: Do Epic Shit by Ankur Warikoo
Book: Do Epic Shit by Ankur Warikoo
A year from now, you will wish you had started today.
But you can certainly be sure of regret, if you don’t start today. What is the single biggest thing you can do to help you towards professional success? People do not have to follow up, when you commit to doing something. That’s it.
You are what you do. Not what you say you’ll do.
Commitments are nothing if not backed up with actions.
Luck happens to those that make things happen.
Persistence isn’t a one-day miracle.
If you are unhappy with where you are in life right now, do not wait to find out what you should be doing.
Doing what is right never comes with reasons. Because the right thing is the ultimate reason.
The biggest roadblock to learning is ego! Your ego keeps you from asking questions to those younger than you. I must know everything! How could I be so naïve? It’s impossible that I can’t do it without asking them! Ego is a bubble. Instead of bursting it and seeing what all lies outside, we invest most of our energy protecting it. To know what you don’t know is power.
There is temporary discomfort in doing the unconventional. There is permanent discomfort in living life as a template.
An excuse is the distance between who you are and who you wish to be.
If your happiness depends on external validation, then your happiness depends on something you do not control.
Money can buy you stuff. But the biggest thing it buys is freedom. Including freedom from stuff.
‘I wish everyone could get rich and famous and everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that’s not the answer.’ – Jim Carrey
Asking is the best thing to do, before making assumptions.
We don’t need more productivity hacks. We need to spend more time with ourselves doing what we want to do.
Thoughts are powerful, when they are converted into actions. Without action, they are simply broken promises.
Do not allow comfort to make you believe that you no longer need to try!
Our actions are driven by our feeling of what people feel about us! This begs the question, whose life are we living?
Emotional debt has killed more people than financial debt ever will.
Anyone can be calm when things are calm. Being calm despite the storm is a powerful skill. Just because someone carries it well doesn’t mean it isn’t heavy. Everyone carries a heavy load. Be kind to others.
Do not confuse calmness with a lack of fire. Calmness doesn’t mean lack of drive. It rather means having the power to turn that drive into actions. Calm people have the most fire, because they use their courage to do bold things. Instead of using up that fire to speak. The calm IS the fire. Because that is the fire that brings ideas to execution. Thoughts to action. And tangents to tangibles.
The best mental model for taking tough decisions in life?
Ask yourself, ‘What’s the worst thing that can happen?’ 2. Close your eyes and vividly imagine it happening. 3. Then ask, ‘Will I be okay – mentally, socially, financially, physically, emotionally?’
That thing that you still haven’t finished and you are mad at yourself for not doing so? It is simply because it is not a priority. You think you still have time.
If you are authentic, if you are truly yourself all the time – you don’t have any competition! No one can ever beat you at being you!
Merely knowing what you need to do is not enough for you to do it! Awareness is the start of the decision. Not the end of it. Step 1 is Awareness. Step 2 is Execution. Step 3 is Rinse and Repeat. You won’t go anywhere if you are aware but don’t do anything about it. You will go everywhere if you are aware and take actions from that awareness. You know. You act. You learn. You know better. And you continue.
Comparing yourself to others is the biggest waste of time. Everyone had different beginnings. Different temperaments of parents. Totally different interests and hobbies. Different ways parents perceived success. Different teachers who taught you to fit in. And you expect yourself to outsmart someone else.
If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.
The hardest thing in the world is telling yourself that it’s not hard at all. It is not hard to wake up early.
It is not hard to make money. It is not hard to approach strangers. It is not hard to express love. It is not hard to send cold emails. It is not hard to ask for a raise. It is not hard to ask questions. It is not hard to voice your opinion.
If you are comfortable dancing in public without alcohol or drugs, you are at peace with who you are. If you feel high without being high, If you are intoxicated by joy instead of substances, If you love to express yourself without numbing your senses, You are at a place of untouchable joy and peace.
you do what everyone else will do, you will end up like everyone else.
Working out teaches you discipline and patience like few other things do. You can’t buy a fit body. You can’t get fit overnight. You can’t cheat to get to a fit body. You can’t ride on someone else to get a fit body. You can’t blame anybody for not being fit. Neither can you ask someone to get fit on your behalf.
It is only going to happen if you show up every day. And be patient.
Attitude >> Experience >> Education The hiring principle I have always followed.
Money buys freedom. Freedom is a privilege.
The right time to start investing was when you turned 18. The next best time is TODAY.
If you do not know how to care for money, money will stay away from you. – Robert Kiyosaki
Financially smart people take loans even if they can afford, to save money. Financially weak people take loans knowing that they can’t afford, to spend money!
Hope these reflections of mine help you, as much as they help me as well: Would you be friends with your own self? Would you marry yourself? Would you be your own boss? What version of you would you rather not be? Why do you still continue being that version?
Think of all the wasted time spent being mad at someone.
Someone broke you into pieces. And now you have decided to trade your peace for seeking revenge. When we hold a grudge against someone, we do the same thing they did to us: hurt us. They hurt us once. We hurt ourselves 100x by repeating it in our head.
Your kindness might cause you pain, a sense of betrayal, heartburn. Be kind anyway. Not everyone is going to reciprocate your kindness. Some are even going to play with it. Some are not going to care. Some are not going to acknowledge it ever. Yet, kindness is always the right thing to do.
No one is useless.
Everyone knows something you don’t.
Run away from those who are trying to run away from themselves. Those who are not willing to heal themselves. Those who do not want to know their deeper parts. Those who are not okay and do nothing to change it. Those who do not want to have difficult conversations with themselves.
Respect doesn’t come from the title. It comes from conduct.
It takes effort to find love. It takes effort to feel fulfilled. It takes effort to be fit. It takes effort to be happy. Which is why most of us do not have love, fulfilment, happiness or fitness in our life. . . . We all accept the love we think we deserve.
If you share because you are expecting something in return, it is not sharing. It is a transaction!
