The other's happiness was not hard to miss as the other's lips stretched into a wide grin. Teeth practically gleaming as the older girl's eyes crinkled around the corners, the young detective couldn't help the slight quirk of a smile in response. Minako Arisato's good mood was infectious and had Naoto slightly stepping outside the bounds of her comfort zone. She seemed to do that to her quite often, slipping beneath the barriers of formality set in place and burrowing close without fully realizing it. The brunette's friendliness had always been present and had always caused the young detective to fumble awkwardly at her lack of knowledge concerning social situations. It wasn't due to a lack of social etiquette, rather a general inability to interact with her peers.

"Seeing as the amount of time that has passed between has been quite extensive, it would be best to acclimate with one another again," she said, "As per usual, my current workload is quite large albeit manageable. Besides that, I have been well. Might I inquire as to how you have been as of late?"

I am going to head off to bed. I hope that I'll be able to be on my roleplay dash more often in the future, but it will really depend on my workload and whether or not my arm injury is up to it.

Nodding perfunctorily, the younger girl tried not to think about how close the other was to her -- there was the briefest brush of skin against her knuckles as a smile lit up Minako's face once more. In her absence, she had almost forgotten how the other naturally invaded the space around her normally kept for herself and herself alone. It was odd, but not necessarily unpleasant (as she might have suspected it to be). 

"My apologies, Arisa--" she hastily cleared her throat, "Minako-chan. As you can see, it has been quite some time since we last saw one another."

Ducking her head forwards to better hide her face beneath the brim of her cap, Naoto Shirogane could feel the corners of her lips twitch upwards in a small smile. So, the other had seen through her ruse? Glancing up at the taller girl beside her, eyelashes brushing against the soft curve of her cheek, the young detective nodded. 

“Given the interesting circumstances of when we first met, I would be hard pressed not to remember, Arisato-san.”

If I was your lover, the distance wouldn't matter. I'd call you every day, send letters everyday, and take on jobs just so I could visit you as often as I could. Then we'd go on dates, hold hands, kiss and maybe do something more. I'd offer myself to you, body, mind and soul, and I wouldn't regret a thing.

"A-Arisato-san, I could never ask you to go through such difficulties and hardships for my sake." Face heating, the young detective could feel the flush spreading from her cheeks up into her ears. "To give oneself over to another is not a trivial matter to joke about. I would be responsible if you were ever put in harm's way. Furthermore, the blame would fall upon my shoulders should your heart break." Tugging at the brim of her hat, Naoto can no longer meet the other girl's gaze. "I do not think I would be able to bear causing you such pain."

There was something definitely off about the woman in front of her, but she couldn't seem to pinpoint exactly what it was. Something about the other was...off-putting, to say the least. Perhaps it was in the way she held herself? Glancing over the seemingly older woman, Naoto took in her appearance carefully. The tattoos that visibly wrapped around her arms and the fact that she was barefoot was interesting to say the least. "Well then, Medusa-san, you may call me Naoto Shirogane."

"I am glad to hear that you will be taking precautions for your own safety during your stay here in Inaba. If you witness any suspicious activity, please report it to the Inaba Police Department as soon as possible and if you have any concerns for your safety, please call 110 to reach the police." 

Nodding yet again at the other girl, the young detective allows a small smile to quirk her lips upwards. "Thank you for offering congratulations."

Resisting the urge to raise an eyebrow at the other girl, Naoto merely crosses her arms in front of her chest. Perhaps it was somewhat of a defensive gesture towards the other’s personal questions, but if it was, the young detective decided to ignore that knowledge, especially as her body tenses at the mention of the string of serial murders that had occurred in Inaba not too long ago. 

“Welcome to the town of Inaba then, Aigis-san. I hope that you shall enjoy your stay here despite the strange string of murders that have taken place. I’m assuming that since you know about the matters you shall remain cautious while you are here.” Gripping the material of her shirt between her fingers, Naoto found herself struggling with what may be considered socially acceptable. “I am currently enrolled at Yasogami High School here in the town of Inaba, so your assumption is correct.” Noticing the other eyeing the pistol strapped to her hip, the young detective figured she could not get past some form of explanation. “I am also a detective that is currently working for the Inaba Police Department.”
