his answering laughter was short and dry. an air of detached otherness settled upon him as his eyes unfocused towards the head of the table where his brother and father sat talking. "i'm afraid you would be the first to ever think having my attention was good fortune," he couldn't help but observe aloud. bringing his gaze back to her face, he studied it for any sign of falsehood. "you are serious," he muttered finally. it was then a warmer smile replaced the bitter humor that mocked his features. his skeletal pale hand gently reached for the knife she'd laid abandoned. fingers slid over the cool silver like a faint breath. "you have my attention, so... what would you make of it?" there was a hesitancy to his question as if he were unsure he wanted to know her reply. still darkened eyes met hers with an eagerness he was desperate to disguise.

Seeing he was, in fact, giving her attention now, she felt her heart skip a beat. She had always liked him, even when they were younger, but Sigyn thought he would never feel the same as she did. Biting her lip, she took this opportunity and continued on. "Hmm...there are many ways and things I can think of in order to get your attention, but it seems I already have it, do I not, my Prince? It seems the Norns smile upon me with good fortune right now."

the teasing of her answer brought an equally bright smile to loki's face. he loved it when they played along. his sense of humor did carry such a weight against the brick wall of brutality featured in the responses some of his family gave him in return. loki even managed a brisk laugh at her question. "it's a start," he remarked easily. "what else might you maybe try to garner my attention, my lady?"

Sigyn is taken back by his words, but quickly recovers, a small playful smile now on her face. The knife in her hands she was messing around with earlier now placed down on the table. "Maybe....maybe not..." she pauses briefly, raising an eyebrow. "Is it working?"

the box was ornate because loki could not conceive of a simple design. although, the expertly crafted woodwork was elegant and not gaudy in taste. a knotted border twisted around the lining in gold and silver while a crow in flight took up the space upon the lid's center. the god arched a brow thoughtfully as he cradled the mysterious object before sif. a scoff escaped his smiling lips. "i am... disheartened you would think so little of me, really. a childish parlor trick, hiding a snack within a box when i could merely summon it at random before our very eyes. what use would i make of a box?" tilting his head in what appeared to be disappointment, loki pressed his mouth into a thin line and moved to pocket the box. "no need. you were so persistent after all, but we can dismiss the matter..."

Sif carefully glances at the small little box before her eyes narrow back at him distrustfully. Having fallen for one of his tricks before, the Goddess of War has now learned to be careful and on guard when it comes to dealing with the Trickster. "If a snake or something else jumps out of there, you will regret it. Actually...why don't you open it instead?"
