As a Polish speaker writing fics, I often drop the pronouns when the context is clear while English keeps them. I believe it’s also that English uses gerunds after certain verbs and Polish uses infinitives. I also never learned what’s the difference between a/an & the articles so I use it randomly and hope for the best 🥰

Posts like this remind me that hey, mistakes in writing happen and are beautiful because they come from what’s really sitting in your throat. And that I’d be unstoppable if I ever stopped taking refuge in a language that’s more common and easier for everyone else to understand ✨

i love it actually when nonnative speakers make mistakes that reveal how their native languages work.

lots of koreans online say they "eat" drinks which would assume they only have one word which covers the concept of consumption.

arabic immigrants in sweden (my mother included) have a hard time differentiating between "i think/i believe/my opinion is" which suggests that in arabic these different modalities of speaker agency is treated as one or at least interchangeable.

swedish speakers in english will use should/shall/have to/must with much higher nuance precision than native english speakers, to the point where they sound well awkward, because the distinction between these commands in swedish is much clearer than in english. i make mistakes between is/am/are and has/have constantly because swedish only has one pronoun covering all grammatical persons.

i've heard speakers of languages without gendered pronouns (finnish, the chinese dialects, and a tonne more) make he/she mistakes because it's hard(!!) to learn two or more gendered pronouns and when to use them correctly.

how neat is that?! it add a charm to international english usage in particular and make our appreciation of both our native languages and our learnt ones stronger...!!

I've been trying to draw a fanart for the fic I only just published, but I can't figure this Tim out. Render makes him a bit prettier though also completely not-Tim looking 💔 you can have an early version for now

I know they made Tim look tall and relatively buff next to Bernard in the Lex and the City comic, but I just love how they usually draw him looking small and relatively thin next to he other adult male Bats.

Let me paint the picture.

We know Tim prefers baggy clothing in everyday life, so you would never know he has the sluttiest little waist unless you catch him in a waistcoat or a well tailored suit, and even then, the pictures in the tabloids don't do him justice.

And I can just imagine Jason seeing him from behind while Tim is putting on his armor, still in his undershirt and tight pants and just...

Jason can't NOT grab him by the waist.

It's a life or death question in that moment whether he can encircle his waist with his hands. (He can't, but it will not stop him from trying.) He has always known he was bigger than Tim, loved to use it to his advantage in fights, but this just felt different. And suddenly he's very glad he went with a full face helmet to hide his blush brought on by the ideas of how he could use their size difference in the bedroom.

Announcing JayTim Week 2025!

That's right folks, it's that time of year again! This year the mods have chosen to embrace the fact that JayTim Week is in June with JTW 2025: I Choose Hue. Each day will have a color assigned to it, with that color acting as that day's prompt. How you choose to incorporate that color into what you share is entirely up to you—it could be a palette-swap of Jason and Tim's costumes in piece of fanart for Orange; an all-angst, no-comfort fic for Blue; a Poison Ivy-sidekick AU for Green—there's a whole spectrum of opportunity to work with here!

The event this year will run from June 22nd through June 28th (Sunday through Saturday), with a free day falling on Wednesday. And since red is so important to both Jason and Tim, the colors/prompts will be going in reverse, culminating in Red:

Day 1 (Sunday, 6/22): Purple

Day 2 (Monday, 6/23): Blue

Day 3 (Tuesday, 6/24): Green

Day 4 (Wednesday, 6/25): FREE DAY

Day 5 (Thursday, 6/26): Yellow

Day 6 (Friday, 6/27): Orange

Babs hacked into both Tim & Jason’s dating profiles.

She set up false dates for them at the same in downtown Gotham.

The two showed up at the entrance of the bar before getting into an intense shouting match.

Eventually Tim pulled out his phone and started typing before all of Babs CCTV footage went black.

The duo weren’t seen for the rest of the night, but the next morning Jason had multiple hickeys across his neck and Tim had a prominent bite mark on his collarbone.
