I generally keep this blog away from politics but I have to say this:

If you’re comparing the people rioting to the cops who killed George Floyd you’re part of the problem.

It’s not the same. It’s just not. People protesting systemic injustice is not the same as cops once again acting out of sheer brutality and racism. Property is not as valuable as human life and equating the two is reckless and heartless.

These rioters have no other choice. I’m not condoning violence, but I am saying that we need to understand what’s going into their actions.

If white people were the minority, being gunned down while unarmed, being disrespected and degraded, you bet your ass those people complaining about the protests now would be out on the streets looting and rioting.

There was a local business owner whos building was caught in the arsons. He had this to say:

“Let my business burn. We can replace a building, but we cannot replace a life. Let justice rise from the ashes.”

We could learn a thing or two from him.
