There was nothing more beautiful than one of Emma Dobbs’ famous smiles. She reserved them for the most special occasions, and when they appeared, Caradoc was certain to cherish them, to preserve them perfectly in his memory. It was never a guarantee that they would reveal themselves again, after all. “It is a good place to think,” he admitted with a soft smile. “---And you know how much I like to do that.”
“Peachy,” he said with a keen smile, knowing that Emma would interpret his sarcasm with ease. It was an inherent part of their relationship that neither member of the duo needed to speak for the other to comprehend what they were feeling. They could sit together for wordless hours, and the lack of speech would not make the experience any less important. “—But perhaps more concerning than my injury is that I have not seen you in two weeks. That is too long to go without my partner in crime.” He grinned, gazing at her. “—So how is she?”

“I had not been expecting that a little visit to the hospital wing would be worthy of news these days.” It was almost expected nowadays that the beds would be filled with bodies, and his had always been a frequent occupant, so he could not quite comprehend the extensive worry in the other’s eyes. “But do not fret,” he assured them with a little pat on the shoulder. “I am all right. Only a little shaken up.”

“Nothing escapes your attention, does it, Alecto?” He’d been too stubborn to accept continued use of his cane. The object was more than a literal crutch to him, and he refused to be restrained by it, emotionally or physically. “--Though, as impressed as I am by your intuition, I cannot allow you to be concerned. Especially not about me.” He smiled and reached to squeeze her hand gently before releasing it. “--Plus, I would not call myself heroic.”

“I could go for one,” Caradoc acquiesced, leaning in to grant the girl a hug before sitting back and accepting the plate that she handed to him. It had been a while since he had seen her, and despite the look of pleasure that was present, the Hufflepuff knew that it was feigned. “How are you?” he asked quizzically anyways.
“So you know… I do not care if it is a muggle thing. Or not British. Pizza is just the best thing in the world, okay?” Kelian exclaimed, being in a good mood again for once, and not only because of the food. “Want a piece maybe?”

“I had not been staring,” Caradoc assured her with an innocent smile and a nod of his head as he moved to fulfill her request. Handing her the shirt, he sank onto the couch adjacent to her. His eyes remained respectfully stationed on her own hard gaze and he inquired, “---If I am not crossing any lines by asking, why exactly are you not on the team anymore?”
“Stop staring, and hand me the shirt beside you, I need to get to the Quidditch pitch and demand my place on the team back”
