ALL TOO WELL OVER THE YEARS

There they were.

In the middle of the beautiful chaos.

Surrounded by the crowd,

with the music reverberating through the walls.

There they were,

standing so close yet not close enough.

UNSPOKEN LOVE

Deep within,

I keep a secret,

Concealing from him,

Binding it into a knot,

Keeping it enclosed.

I glance at him,

Wondering, "Should I say it?"

In contrast,

My heart and mind,

Battling all the time,

As two fighters in a ring.

My smile freezing strangely,

When he gives me a glimpse.

Palms going sweaty,

Cheeks turning warm,

Speech getting dim,

A feeling simply complex

and inexpressible

Upkeep... of his photographs,

As a mark of his presence.

Being nostalgic,

Over every moment we shared.

Rejoicing in his triumphs,

Hopes for him to be elite.

Having the pride to manifest him,

Keeping him to the core.

Yet, I feel it's only me.

He is fond of me,

But maybe not as much as I do.

What if he distastes my feelings,

and the bond I share with him,

A pleasing soul,

A soul I feel for.

I desire to know his heart,

But my emotions trap me,

Pulling me down,

Making me go still.

I am connected with him,

As a human in normal,

Yet, deep down,

Waiting to be answered someday.

He is the same,

Charming with his actions,

Happy with everything.

And me too,

Cheerful with life, yet,

An unrequired lover from inside

I can write thousands of poems about you.

But you will never know.

For you,

The darkness of the night hides our greatest sins.

Is that why you are too scared to see me in the daytime?

You fear the cleansing power of the sun,

Laying all of you secrets bare.

Having nowhere to run or hide,

Feels close to death for you.

For me,

The night is when we are at our most truthful.

Does the light of the day not make us lie through our teeth?

The moon will let you look at her,

and the stars twinkle as if they were chattering.

The world begins and ends with the black,

And I never feel more alive.

I've never met someone so scared to love,

That they wish to burn away the truth.

Will you ever want to know?

You do not know I fell long ago.

You do not know I see you in all your glory,

You do not know you are my conception of home.

Because for you too know, would be to feel.

You can feel it, the energy shifts. Like when the air crackles with electricity before a storm. You feel the wind pick up, the momentum in the atmosphere grows.

The moment he said he was clear, I felt the momentum shift. The limbo we've been traversing has found it's end. As each puzzle piece fits together forming the next step in our journey together, the picture begins to take shape. Each piece fitting easier than the last until the vision stands before us almost tangible. The lines between fantasy and reality blur until we are living the dream we've so carefully constructed.

I can't wait to step across that threshold making the dream a reality. The momentum is unmistakable.
