i guess headcanon that those fights between john and mary dean mentions in dark side of the moon where john will up and leave for a few days don’t start until after sam is born. because as that point heaven is no longer invested in making sure that john and mary stay together. the vessels have been born and that’s all they needed really.

keep thinking about that post that was like. if they had make the pink panties joke with someone like chris hemsworth’s thor or whatever, the joke would have had the intended effect- it would be “funny” because its so unexpected and out of left field. ha ha ha macho masculine guy likes to wear pink underwear its hilarious etc etc. but.. but.......... when DEAN says it. it doesnt read like that. instead it feeds even more into the idea that hes performing masculinity. that he GENUINELY enjoyed it. hes not even that embarrassed by it. the joke doesnt land as a joke !!!

people in this fandom try so hard to be the adult in the room re: john winchester that they say the most nonsensical shit. no, i don't think the guy who left a 10 year old in a motel room to care for his 6 year old brother for several days straight did his best. neither did the show, frankly! where are you getting this from.

it fucks me up thinking about how many times mary’s death has been used as motivation for men to do things she Would Not Want them to do. john raises her sons as hunters; her dad teams up with the king of hell; her son almost kills his own son
mary isn’t a person; she’s an altar. and no one gives a damn that she doesn’t want their burnt offerings

Forgive me if this doesn't make sense but
Dean understands himself. He is not drowning in internalized homophobia. He doesn't not know that he's into men. What Dean is, however, is a liar. He lies to everyone, all the time. I think this touches on the queer experience in a way we dont always see in media. We always talk about coming out and coming out scenes but why never talk about why we come out. It's because of how difficult the lying is. But deans lied about everything, all his life. Not just about his sexuality, or things related to hunting. But he lies (directly or by ommission) about the music he likes, the clothes he likes, literally everything, just to fit into this box of what everyone expects him to be. He understands himself, you just don't have the critical thinking skills to see past his lies, you take his word at face value even though the show has told you repeatedly that dean is a liar

Finally realized that the whole shtick about Pamela's lower back tattoo (I never truly got it before lol) was just to parallel it to Dean's handprint. In other words: Castiel forever.

on the surface, the destiel mixtape is already crazy — the music dean’s parents fell in love over, the michaelangelo of it all, the inherent vulnerability and tenderness of making someone a physical compilation of the songs you hold most dear, we’ve all talked about this.
but you peel back the layers and it just gets crazier. “it’s a gift, you keep those” is a lord of the rings reference (paralleling dean and cas with aragorn and arwen is like. next level insane) AND we know that one of dean’s favorite songs is ramble on which references lord of the rings in its lyrics and it’s just like. this tiny little scene is packed so full of meaning and it’s SO deeply and undeniably romantic. i’m eating glass
