They say the end is a cliff

Past that is oblivion

Some walk, resolute, and step over

Embracing the fall, welcoming the end

Others sprint

The promise of it all being over relief

I know what I will do

Tears will fill my eyes and I will laugh

I will finally let the weight of my life go

Not away from me, but onto me

My legs will collapse

I will buckle

I will be crushed

I will fall

Every ache, every discomfort I’ll finally allow myself to feel

The searing pain I’ll own

Torn muscles

Ripped skin

Screaming joints

Exhaustion beyond comprehension

Every drop of blood I’ve ever spilled

All my heartache

My sobs will be choked with laughter

Unable to walk those last few feet

I will drag myself

I will pull forward

That last excruciating inch will be the longest moments of it all

I will end it

I will not falter

I will not spend another moment longer in existence than I must

To that cliff where oblivion waits
