When Woohyun was younger his mother had often worried about how reckless he was when out running with the older boys, a cub playing among the grown ups as she’d called it. They weren’t really grown up, but Woohyun had noticed they played a lot rougher than he and the only other boy his age did. The older boys would run faster and leave him behind if he didn’t become used to the speed, if he didn’t try and be something he was too young to be. His paws, much softer than those toughened, like leather, of the older boys, would end up scraped and sore from days running in the forest. His mother would fuss over his hand and feet after he turned back, setting him on the bathroom counter and cleaning the small cuts as she tutted, telling him to stay her little boy for just a bit longer.
He’d never listened for long, too adventurous for his own good, soon enough back on his feet and running wild once again. Time after time he’d done things he was told not to, just as he had with Sungyeol. He’d been told not to talk to vampires his whole life. His mother and father had warned against them, the alpha of his pack and the older wolves, they all spoke of how they were dangerous, but they never told him much other than they killed innocent people to drink their blood, which he found, honestly, rather disgusting. He’d been told the same upon joining Jongno pack, that vampires were below them and he wasn’t to talk to them.
But over time his adventurous nature hadn’t dimmed as his mother had hoped it would - in some ways it had gotten stronger, to the point he let himself wonder about Sungyeol, let himself hang around him and figure out what he was like and why he killed. It was then that he found out some vampires only killed and drunk from those who had only been a bother to the world, there were still those who killed anyone that they thought would be tasty, but Sungyeol was different, and though he annoyed Woohyun sometimes, he was, somewhat, Woohyun’s friend. Enough for Woohyun to break his pack rules to keep him alive.
But, just as Woohyun’s mother had cared for Woohyun when he was hurt, Sunggyu seemed to want do the same thing - it brought back a sense of safety and overall home. It was odd that he felt some comfortable around the alpha of a pack that wasn’t his own, not in the least bit intimidated, for Sunggyu seemed to actually want to help him, not ridicule him for his decision to help his friend. It was odd, but nice at the same time.
He was finishing the last of his coffee as the elder spoke, drawing Woohyun’s eyes upward from his cup to Sunggyu. With the last sip he licked over his plump lips and smiled in thanks, watching as he the other stood, throwing away his cup, before Woohyun quickly followed suit, standing hurriedly and throwing the now empty cup away. Woohyun, however, was taken aback at the words that followed. He hadn’t expected the invitation into the elders home to be extended longer than needed to clean the wound, as if Sunggyu wouldn’t mind having a wolf from another pack in what he would class his territory. It was odd, all of it was odd, and he wasn’t quite sure how to handle it other than smile and thank him for his kindness.
“I’d...I’d love to.” The words were accompanied by a smile that only wavered slightly as he was taken aback at the hold to his wrist. Of course werewolves were much more comfortable with physical contact than other species, as they needed it almost as much as vampires needed blood. If werewolves didn’t have that physical side to add to a healthy lifestyle they’d grow weaker and pine for that which they lacked. However the hold was unexpected in the sense that Woohyun was sure it wasn’t very common for an alpha to initiate contact with a beta of another pack, but then he’d not met many alphas before, at least not ones who led packs of their own.
Letting himself be tugged along he watched the elder with interest, intrigued by this man that seemed so unlike any alpha he’d ever met before, to the extent that Woohyun wanted to learn more about him if possible, extend his interactions with the werewolf who owned such a beautiful coat of snow white. Sunggyu was different from so many other wolves he’d met - he was kind, understanding, and open-minded. So far the two alphas Woohyun had met were nothing like that.
The car was simple, nothing too flashy, but then a man who worked at a bookstore wouldn’t really be expected to have an expensive looking car. It was modest, much like Sunggyu seemed to be - the perfect car for a seemingly perfect man. Woohyun wanted to learn more, find those flaws in his personality and figure out just how someone could be so perfect, without any obvious flaws - there must be some!
“Safety first.” He replied with a smile, tugging his seatbelt across his body once he’d settled in the passenger seat of the car. “Will I get to meet your daughter?” The words passed Woohyun’s lips before he’d had to chance to fileter them, and he immediately wondered whether he sounded creepy, or had crossed some unknown line of privacy. Woohyun simply liked children, and was intrigued by this perfect man and his seemingly perfect life. In real life however nothing was perfect - perfect wasn’t possible. Woohyun wanted to dig up the bad parts, wanted Sunggyu to trust him enough to tell him the bits of his life that weren’t so perfect.
But he knew he’d have his work cut out for him, as even though the elder seemed sweet and helpful, Woohyun had the feeling he knew how to keep the private parts of his life private. If Woohyun wanted to find out anything, he’d need to work at it, but something told him that Sunggyu was worth the trouble, that anything he found out would only add to the elders character.
Woohyun was intrigued by Sunggyu, and he was going to make sure this encounter wasn’t their last.

sunggyu lead the other to the car nex and unlocked the doors before getting into the driver’s seat and buckling himself up. licking his lips he started the car and turned his gaze to woohyun. “please put your belt on.”

Many times in Woohyun’s life he’d been turned down, only a few times having been accepted on offers to treat people too a coffee date. Coffee was a simple love of his, the scent was strong and soothing, one he’d been in love with from a young age. His father would brew coffee in the mornings and the smell would travel through the entire house. Often Woohyun would waken to the soothing scent, desperate for a sip of the dark liquid which tasted far too bitter every time he tried it, though he always did come back for more.
He’d grown to love coffee, any and all, the bitter taste at first unpleasant, but you warmed to it quickly, almost like alcohol, the more intoxicated you get, the better the vodka tastes. So, usually, in almost every occurrence of him asking anyone on a date, it was, more often than not, a coffee date. If they didn’t like coffee then...he was almost sure it wouldn’t work out. Coffee was one of his main sources of energy - not that he really needed it.
The cashier had caught his eye quickly, and Woohyun often prided himself in being able to read someone’s character just from their face, so he’d been almost certain he wasn’t some stuck up dick - he was working as a cashier, so he was unlikely to be stuck up. Just from his face, soft features and bright eyes, Woohyun could tell he was at least somewhat nice, but coffee was the perfect thing to talk over, to get to know each other, to learn more and test if his suspicions were correct.
Jinyoung, it seemed, had both a sense of humour and lacked the common insecurities that often confused Woohyun. Jinyoung clearly had nothing to be insecure about either. Woohyun hoped the younger (he looked younger) would accept his offer of coffee. A smile grew across his features as Jinyoung spoke, straightening up slightly and watching as he scanned the gum through. Eyes catching on the way the cashier bit at his plump bottom lip he stared for a moment, only catching his words and registering them a moment after they’d left the others mouth. He knew the coffee shop well, but then Woohyun knew most of the coffee shops in central Seoul as he’d visited them often enough, his love of coffee spurring him on to find the best place in Seoul - it was a big job for one small werewolf, but he loved coffee enough to be happy to do it.
As the gum was placed in his his palm and their fingers brushed he smiled instinctively, noting the softness of his slender fingers, hand smaller and paler than his own - a pretty hand. Woohyun didn’t have pretty hands, but he liked them, especially pale slender fingers and soft palms - Jinyoung seemed to have it all. The attractive face, pretty hands, however, much to Woohyun’s slight annoyance, the cashier seemed taller than him.
“I’ll see you there then.” He replied as he tugged his wallet from his pocket and handed over the money, making sure to let his own fingers trail over the others in a lingering action, before pulling his hand back and smiling softly, then with a polite nod of his head, however partnered with a small wink and lopsided smile, he headed out, purposefully not looking back, though the temptation too was strong.
A short walk later he was sat at a table in the window of the coffee shop, chin leant on a bridge his hands formed, fingers linked and elbows resting on the table. His eyes glued to the street outside he waited patiently for the cashier, never once considering he might not turn up. Woohyun was an optimist, so eh waited with a small smile on his lips, wondering just how he’d managed to get the cute cashier to agree to coffee.

He leaned over the desk separating them and put the packet into the male’s palm, his fingers brushing the male’s as he slowly retracted his hand and brought it back to his side.
A smile was all he offered before he decided to continue. “Oh, and that’ll be five hundred won, Woohyun.”

There had been many times Woohyun had been to coffee shops with people, and usually he was the one paying, which he didn’t mind; her was very much a giver, rather than a receiver. So as his eyes followed Sunggyu’s hand, his own halfway into his pocket, he froze, slightly taken aback. If he thought back, the only time he’d ever been bought coffee was soon after he’d moved to Seoul, and a new friend had lost a bet with him, the loser had to buy the other coffee. No one had ever offered, or gone ahead and payed for him before, though it was rather a pleasant feeling.
His hand slipped out of his pocket in subtle defeat, though he hadn’t had much chance to put up a fight. One sat at the table he leant back, shifting slightly to get comfortable, however he winced as his collar brushed against the bite marks, which were only a couple days old. He had been sure he’d cleaned them well enough, but the swelling seemed to be telling him otherwise. The pain was fleeting, returning to the dull throb that had been present ever since the immediate pain of the bite had dimmed.
He wasn’t surprised Sunggyu had heard of the strict rules Jongno pack kept to, the rules which he found himself struggling to live by. Woohyun had never been one to simply do as he was told, it was what had led him to stray from his packs territory when he was younger and venture into the town nearby. Anyone would have thought he’d have learnt from the friend he’d made, who he hadn’t realised was a vampire, their scent not yet registering to him as that of a vampire, as they were the first he’d met, and hadn’t been told much about them. His adventurous nature had stuck with him even after that, which he expected didn’t sit well with such a strict pack.
“Yeah...They are rather strict. There are a lot of rules. Honestly it was my parents choice to have me move to Jongno pack when I left home, they thought it was a respectable pack, and I guess it is, but it’s not much fun.” His gaze dropped to the table where his hands lay clasped, head tilting to the side and he sighed. He tried not to think about how ill-suited for his pack he was, because after all they were his family now, and he had to live the way they did - that was just how life was for werewolves. Pack rules were law.
Initially, the hand reaching out to his collar went unnoticed, however as he felt the shifting of his shirt once again his eyes flit up to the male across from him, expression curious until Sunggyu spoke. He was about to reply and thank him for his concern, but the following offer to help him came as a slight surprise - it wasn’t often he’d heard of an alpha of another pack helping a werewolf from another pack, especially when they were suffering from an infected vampire bite. Sunggyu was by far the strangest alpha he’d met, but he carried such an air to him that it was impossible not to respect him.
“Ah, yeah Sungyeol is... A pretty lame vampire if you ask me. I think it’s the reason I didn’t hate him. I’m not too...fond, of vampires. Honestly sometimes I doubt my hatred of them, especially when I’m around him. He’s different, but then I haven’t met many. The pack I was born into was pretty isolated, so I only met one in my whole time there. I’ll...try . He’s pretty stubborn.”
Mind still lingering on Sungyeol his gaze followed the barista’s hands as he set down the drinks and muffin as if on autopilot, however a smile blossomed on his lips as he ruffled Sunggyu’s hair, he action appealing to him - he was extremely fond of affection of any kind. It also made Sunggyu look far younger than he had only seconds ago when he’d been in a seemingly ‘worried alpha’ state. The pleasing image was only added to by the offering of the muffin, held within the others pale fingers. He seemed almost too pale for a werewolf, though thinking back to his white coat, it fit him well.
Reaching out Woohyun took the muffin with a smile, bringing it to his lips and taking a small bite as he payed full attention to the werewolf sat across from him, eyes locked on the others deep brown ones. Though being asked who he was, about himself, stopped his train of thought and had a hum passing his lips.
“Well I’m twenty two, I used to live with an extremely isolated pack, so things that aren’t werewolves or trees are still pretty new to me.” A light laugh passed his lips, the last piece of the muffin passing his lips. He chewed slowly as he thought, before running his tongue along the plush tiers and speaking again. “I like reading, and playing the piano. I’m not really sure what to say other than I just don’t seem to fit in anywhere. I think I’m a little too adventurous for my pack, but they’re family I guess, so it’s not like I can do anything about it. There isn’t really any me that’s not ‘pack me’, since I don’t get to be much. I think the only thing that’s against the rules is Sungyeol - InGuk wasn’t happy when he saw the bite, though I think he knew before about him; he could smell him on me probably.”
It was true really, Woohyun didn’t know much about who he was, since he hadn’t been able to explore himself - he’d been stuck in a box his whole life, and everything was still so new. He simply wanted to be free, but being free was a scary prospect. Free meant no one to lean on, and no one to lean on meant loneliness. Woohyun hated being lonely.

a moment later their coffee was placed before them and sunggyu took his caramel frapp and muffin with a loud groan, “oh wow i’ve had dreams of this.” he whispered, happily taking a sip of his drink. the barista ruffled sunggyu’s hair and told them to enjoy the drinks, and sunggyu broke off a piece of muffin and offered it to woohyun.
“so, tell me more about yourself – not just the you who’s in the pack. but the you who runs through the forest. if you get what i’m asking.” sunggyu mumbled, “tell me about who you are.”
sunggyu was always curious, it’s been like that since he was just a small pup.

There were many times in Woohyun’s life that he’d asked people out, and usually it went along the lines of starting with a cheesy pickup line, then proceeding to ask the subject of his attention for coffee, or in more formal settings, dinner. There was even once when he was thirteen (before he really knew what he liked and had simply been conforming to common ideas on what he should like) where he’d asked a girl out for ice cream - she’d said yes. He was rather proud of his little achievement, until she’d told him she only said yes so she’d get free ice cream. Then again he’d probably have done the same thing at that age.
However much this current situation seemed like he was asking the werewolf on some form of date, he was particularly glad he hadn’t taken it that way. He didn’t want to get off on the wrong foot with this guy, there was just something particularly...different about him, like Woohyun needed to be more cautious about how he went about things, as if this man was worth more than a simple coffee date and cheesy pickup lines.
So the suggestion of the attached coffee shop which was paired with the others acceptance of his offer brought a smile to his lips, wondering just how their conversation would go. Though as he followed the other to the front desk and watched him with curiosity, the sudden removal of his shirt brought a flush to his cheeks, unable to drag his eyes away from the others only slightly toned body. He wasn’t exceptionally muscly, in fact he looked rather...soft. In a way it suited him more than if he had chiseled abs and not a single bit of soft flesh to be seen.
Woohyun himself was toned, and rather thin, but he wasn’t all muscle - he sort of envied the softness of the other’s body. He sometimes found he was too thin, bones sticking out here and there - he was nowhere near as skinny as some werewolves he knew, but he wasn’t soft, or muscular. He was just...average.
A little flustered he found he’d been staring, lips slightly parted in surprise, at the werewolf’s body, as he heard the others question, drawing him from his thoughts and mental compliments on the others body which he found, for a fleeting second, he’d like to run his hands over. But he quickly passed it off as his simple, and very much natural (for werewolves at least), hunger for physical contact.
“Uh, yeah...Fine.” He hurriedly replied, forcing a smile onto his lips as he moved to follow the other towards the cafe.
Dal-ui pack. He’d heard of them very briefly once or twice, though he didnt know much about them, unlike the Seoul pack or the North Jeolla pack. He’d heard they were small and resided in Hongdae, but that was about it - he’d never met anyone from the pack, though if they were all as appealing as their alpha he’d sure like to get acquainted with them.
“I’m Woohyun, Nam Woohyun. Beta, Jongno Pack. I’ve not heard a lot about your pack actually and I sort of make it a point to know a good amount of each pack and their territory.” He knew they were situated in Hongdae, but he wasn’t even sure if they had a clear territory line or whether they were lenient of strict, but he was guessing from the looks of this guy, Sunggyu (the name suited him, it was nice), that they couldn’t be nearly as strict as Jongno pack.
InGuk was a strict alpha - sometimes Woohyun felt suffocated, but he couldn’t very well leave and have nowhere to go. He was rather dependent, the idea of being on his own was particularly terrifying.
The coffee shop was one Woohyun already found he liked - the scent was strong, as it should be in a good coffee shop. He wasn’t keen on those ones where you could barely smell the coffee. The scent of roasted coffee beans was one he’d always loved - his father had been partial to his early morning coffee, and had always let Woohyun have a sip every morning when he was younger. He’d chuckle at the pinched expression Woohyun would wear as the bitter taste touched his tastebuds, though every day he’d come back for another sip until he pinched expression was replaced with a calmed, soothed one, and the borrowed mug of his fathers for a tiny tip had been exchanged for his own mug, filled with his morning coffee just the way he liked it.
He watched the encounter with a soft, relaxed smile, before glancing up to the menu board at Sunggyu’s question, humming as he contemplated his decision.
“I’ll just have a medium caramel latte.” Sweet. He needed something sweet today, though other days he found himself craving a large Americano, or a small flat white. It varied, though he was particularly partial to his caramel lattes.
Overall, he was pretty in love with coffee, it was why it was his first suggestion when asking people on dates - he’d only succeeded about three times now-
No, just twice.

“sunggyu ah!” the elder barista grinned, waving his hand. “glad to see you here for lunch. and you brought a friend!”
“yah, what’s that supposed to mean?”
“oh nothing,” the man grinned and sunggyu pouted his lips. “what can i get for you two boys?”
“i’ll have the usual.”
sunggyu glanced at the other male, “what about you?”

Many times in Woohyun’s life had he met clumsy wolves. Those who would try and catch a rabbit and end up falling into a stream, or would constantly get caught in fences or bushes, trekking mud back into their home covered in leaves. They were generally the same in their human form, and more often than not wolves that had been bitten, not born. They never quite got used to their new forms it seemed, or at least the clumsy wolves Woohyun had met were more likely not born into their furry forms.
This man however seemed more uncomfortable in his human form than the majestic white wolf Woohyun had encountered the day before. He’d been so sure of his footing as he bounded away into the trees, stance stable, balanced, as if he’d been in wolf form his whole life. It was odd to see a werewolf so clumsy in his human form, when in wolf form he’d been so powerful and sure of himself and his movements. The wolf he’d seen was so different to the man that was slowly standing, wiping his glasses on his shirt, but in a way it was far more appealing than the human form matching the wolf counterpart - Woohyun had been so sure he’d find a man built tall and strong, sure of himself so much so that he ended up, in a way, haughty.
Woohyun was rather more pleased with the man he’d come across.
He followed close behind, still wondering how such an adorably clumsy man could have been such a dominant looking wolf, mind only half paying attention to the words that passed the others lips. Once again thankful for the distinct scent a werewolf carried, making it much easier to find the books he needed when in times of requiring quick information on those first few times he’d had to deal with heat, he found himself paying more attention. It wasn’t often that he found werewolves who were this helpful and nice, at least not to him. It was as if they could smell his over-enthusiasm and slowness. He’d found many didn’t have time for a werewolf that was constantly filled with energy and curiosity.
He’d decided not to react to the slight tease about the ‘dirty stuff’, knowing it most likely wouldn’t cater to his specific preferences - few books did, though he allowed himself a light laugh. However it was the book recommendation that caught his attention. He’d read the book when he was younger, and had fallen in love with the story and the characters, reading it again and again until the pages were dog eared and the spine almost falling off. He’d kept his first copy, though he didn’t read it as much anymore, scared that it’d fall apart if he opened it even once more. He’d bought a newer, more sturdier copy a few years ago, though the first, leather bound one still sat in pride of place on his bedside table.
“Oh, I love the Princess Bride! I read the first copy I ever had until it was practically falling apart. I still have it, but it’s probably my favourite read. I’m glad someone else enjoys the story as much as I do. Most people I know either don’t read much, haven’t read it, or didn’t like it, which is ridiculous because how can you not love it?!” A wide grin fell upon his lips, accompanying his enthusiastic words.
“I actually...Well I’ll be honest I was more curious than actually looking for books. I think I...saw you in the woods yesterday.” His words came softer than before, leaning closer to the werewolf, who he would have assumed was younger than him from his smooth, clear skin and soft features, had it not been for the slight mature air that surrounded him, even if he had been rather clumsy.
“Does you shift end soon? Could I maybe...talk with you over coffee?” It most definitely wasn’t him asking the guy out, and he didn’t particularly want him to think he was asking him on some sort of date - there was something about the man that screamed caution in that area, unlike the cashier he’d asked for coffee not long ago - he’d seemed to be one big green light. This guy was more amber, nothing telling him to back off, but nothing telling him it was safe to make a move, even if he had wanted to. Though he was cute, Woohyun wasn’t sure if he wanted to make a fool of himself by flirting or blatantly asking him on a date.
He sincerely hoped the other didn’t take the question the wrong way. He was really rather interested in getting to know the man who possesed such a beautiful coat of pure white.

There were many things people often failed to realise about Nam Woohyun, the most prominent one being that he wasn’t, in fact, completely stupid, or entirely a flirt. The werewolf enjoyed many things, including reading. When he was younger, stuck in his packs large house in the forest, nestled within their large territory, cut off from anything other than each other, he’d had to find ways to entertain himself. Luckily enough the house had possessed an impressively full library with books on just about everything.
However people still seemed to label him as the ‘village idiot’ type, just because he could be a little slow at times.
But Woohyun still enjoyed reading - the shelves full of books in his bedroom was enough proof of that. So, it was no surprise to him that the book shop across the street caught his eye, the coffee shop attached seemingly calling to him - coffee and some good books, what was there to dislike? He’d always been rather partial to tea and coffee, having curled up with a book and a mug of anything hot he could get his hands on when he was younger.
However it was only as he neared that he began to pick up on a scent that was strikingly familiar. It wasn’t the strong smell of coffee or the pages of some of the older books, though those both paired together almost managed to drown out the scent, though Woohyun had always been good at picking up and identifying certain smells - his friends, his parents, bacon, freshly brewed coffee, daffodils - the list went on.
So it only took him about half a minute to weave his way through the thick smell of the roasting coffee beans, and take a hold of the scent-
The white wolf.
There was no mistaking the smell for anything, or anyone else. He’d not forget a wolf like that easily, his scent, his white coat, his amber eyes - non of it. Every single second of their brief encounter had been seared into his memory, unable to be simply wiped away with the the mental brush of a hand. A wolf like that wasn’t easily forgotten. Nor was his pungent scent. It, in a way, was rather intoxicating. A musky scent, mixed with a sort of fruity, floral smell. It was manly, but gentle at the same time.
It was even less difficult to follow it, letting the musk guide him into the bookstore and towards the front desk, where the scent was strong - though the lack of anyone behind the desk irked him, desperate to see just what the wolf looked like in his human form. Using every ounce of ability he had to track down the source of the smell among the people wandering through the shelves, he was drawn towards the small clearing for some tables where he presumed people sat to read, or for students to come and study.
With a sweep of his eyes he almost assumed his senses were playing tricks on him, however it was a second later that he spotted movement underneath one of the tables. He watched as a man wriggled from under the desk and sat up, only then to have his glasses fall off his nose and into his lap - it was an innocently comical scene.
It took him another few seconds to realise this was the wolf. The majestic white coated wolf who looked so powerful and strikingly beautiful, was what appeared to be a charmingly clumsy librarian. With step in his direction he confirmed his suspicions that the human form would be just as beautiful as the wolf form, for the man sat on the floor with his glasses in his lap was indeed ridiculously handsome. Soft feature, small eyes and shiny hair. He wasn’t extremely built, but he wasn’t a stick either - everything about him seemed soft and gentle, unlike the wolf he’d laid eyes on the day before who was so striking Woohyun had been sure he was some strong, terrifyingly determined alpha - this man sat feet away looked far more humble than he’d been expecting.
He was even better than he’d expected.
With a few steps closer he noticed he’d been trying to retrieve a book from under the table, so as he’d been taught to use his manners, he leant down and plucked the book from the floor. His eyes locked on the male before he crouched down, one arm resting across the top of his knees while his other, holding the book, reached out to hand it to the werewolf before him.
“Here. Do you need any help?”

with a groan sunggyu slipped out from under the table and wasn’t sure what to run first, his aching stomach or the bump on his head. after, his glasses fell into his lap and he sat there obviously done with the moment.

Had Woohyun been slightly more aware of his surroundings at that moment he’d have immediately registered the appearance of the alpha in the doorway. But, he wasn’t. Mind blurred with the lasting effects of being drained of a significant amount of blood he still felt sluggish, senses weakened to the point he could barely even smell himself.
It took him until he’d completely drained the water bottle, just as Sungyeol had almost drained him dry, and turned to lean back against the counter before he noticed the elders presence with a start. Woohyun wasn’t deluded enough to think InGuk wouldn’t notice the puncture wounds, or the overwhelming scent of vampire on him - InGuk noticed everything, or so it seemed to the younger werewolf. Woohyun himself wasn’t quite sure of how pungent the scent of Sungyeol was, due to his hazed senses, but he knew the alpha would catch the scent.
Would he be able to play it off as he’d simply been ambushed and used as dinner for some rouge vampire?
Somehow, Woohyun didn’t think InGuk would fall for that.
“InGuk...Hi.” He greeted, trying to sound somewhat normal, even as his voice passed his lips in a rough drawl, lazy, as if his brain was unable to process his sentences as fast as usual. If Woohyun were thinking rationally he’d have realised he should probably just give up any attempts at pulling the wool over the alpha’s eyes, and simply come clean.
He’d gone against pack rules, and he knew it, but his ever-present, incessantly itching curiosity of the unknown, mixed with a chilling, yet adrenaline-filled fear, had drawn him to the vampire who had only a few hours ago fed from him.
If he wasn’t supposed to even consort with vampires, he was pretty sure letting them feed from him wouldn’t grant him a very favorable reaction.
So, as was customary with Woohyun and his famously ridiculous excuses, he spewed out the first thing that came to mind.
“I, uh...I fell. In the forest...On some branch or something.”
Well done Woohyun, there’s absolutely no way he could ever not believe that.
❝ wolves bane ❞
[ ... ]
His tongue clicks against the roof of his mouth, like a trigger to a gun before he speaks. Head tilting his head to the side, he offers a sickeningly sweet smile. “Whats that, Woohyun?” he knows the answer, pushing himself from the support of the wall. A couple slow paced steps as his arms fold over his chest. “Hm?”

Woohyun wasn’t exactly sure what he was expecting as Sungyeol’s fangs sunk into his neck, puncturing the skin with a sharp stinging sensation, like when you get an injection - it didn’t feel right, natural. The sting ebbed out from the point of intrusion, making his skin burn and tingle, throb from the sudden slices in his skin. It was painful at first, making him wince and grip the elders biceps tightly, toes curling and teeth gritting, trying everything he could to take his mind off of the uncomfortable sensation of the fangs within his skin, sucking out his blood.
However, after a few minutes the pain dulled, replaced by a sensation that wasn’t too unpleasant. The fact he’d begun to feel slightly light headed didn’t immediately register, his mind far too occupied by the feeling of his blood slowly leaving him, though now he was far more aware of the every little shift of Sungyeol’s jaw, or the way he held the back of his neck - it was enough of a distraction that it took away from the ever-dimming pain. Affection of any kind, innocent or not was always a good distraction for Woohyun - he thrived off of it.
Soon enough he felt the elder’s fangs slip out of his skin, leaving behind two puncture wounds he only briefly worried about trying to hide when he went home. The loss of Sungyeol’s fangs embedded in his skin seemed to hurt more than when he’d been having his blood sucked out, his skin suddenly throbbing, hot and irritated. He just hoped he wouldn’t get some weird infection from the anti-social vampire nerd.
Woohyun found his grip on the elders biceps remained locked tightly in place until he forced himself to release, hands trembling slightly as he lowered them to his thighs, curling his fingers into his palm. Having a significant amount of blood taken fro him didn’t seem to be doing him any good - his head had started to pound slightly, as if he brain had swollen up and was thumping against the inside of his skull, trying to crack the bone and escape. As if the throbbing neck and slowly worsening headache weren’t enough he felt sluggish and weak, as if every ounce of energy he’d possessed before had transferred from himself to the elder.
And though it thoroughly pissed him off at that moment, he knew underneath the irritation he was just glad Sungyeol hadn’t ‘died’.
No stranger to sudden touches he almost leant into the now warm fingers against his skin. In a way he was glad he’d helped Sungyeol, there was definitely something rewarding about preventing a death, even if Sungyeol was technically already dead. Though he nodded to reassure him he was, well, dealing. He didn’t particularly want to worry Sungyeol and make him feel bad for drinking from him - after all he was the one who offered to let him, and he didn’t regret it, as much as he wished he had.
“Don’t be, I offered, it’s fine. At least you’re not dying now and I can try and get you home.” His voice was quiet, mouth dry and head buzzing as it throbbed. With a slight wince he had the sudden urge to just lean forward and rest his forehead on Sungyeol’s shoulder and go to sleep against the surprisingly built vampire.
But he didn’t. Of course.
A sigh passed his lips, heavy and weighed down with the pain that seemed to thrum within his very veins. He felt weak, which was unusual for the young werewolf, who often found himself possessing more energy than he reasonably needed, which more often than not resulted in rather long runs in his shifted form.
Then, at the elders sudden compliment he snorted, though the action sent his head throbbing, a soft groan passing his lips as he winced.
“Thanks, and you are. Now hush, you’re drunk. I’ll take you home, just...try and keep quiet, I don’t need your drunken ass embarrassing me.”
Slowly he shifted off of the elders lap, standing and shivering as a breeze of evening air whipped around his bare torso, sneaking between the fabric of his jacket and his shirtless midriff. With slow movements, mindful of his hammering headache, knowing any sudden movements would only increase the ache, he leant down to take the elders hands and tug him to his feet.
It was times like these he wished he was taller than Sungyeol, or stronger - of which he was most definitely neither.
“C’mon then Mr Tipsy.” A chuckle passed his lips as he tugged on of Sungyeol’s arms over his shoulders, preparing himself for the journey back to Sungyeol’s apartment.
He just hoped his lack of energy and aching body wouldn’t slow them down too much - Sungyeol clearly wasn’t going to be of much help.

Then, as quickly as he had appeared, the wolf was gone, bounding off at a speed Woohyun hadn’t even thought possible. Everything about the wolf screamed power. The way his eyes sparkled with something that Woohyun was unable to put his finger on, or the way his stance held steady, unlike Woohyun’s somewhat clumsy lack of balance on the odd occasion. His pelt of pure white didn’t blend into his surroundings as well as a wolf with mottled brown fur would, though Woohyun himself stuck out everywhere like a sore thumb with his pitch black coat, however the colour was enough to catch anyone’s eye and hold them in a trance, awestruck by the perfectly snow-white coat.
He stood for a while after the wolf disappeared from view, trying desperately to make sure he remembered that scent - though something told him it wouldn’t be that difficult, the scent seemed to stick, cling and hold onto his senses, like it had been stamped into his very being. He wondered whether it would be wise to follow, to track down his scent and keep an eye on him.
Though something told him to leave the encounter as it was, brief, seemingly insignificant, when that was not, in fact, the case - it seemed significant to Woohyun, that he’d ‘met’ a pure white wolf who seemed to glow in the evening light.
So he headed home, thoughts caught on the wolf with the white coat and the lingering scent. He was utterly perfect, for a wolf, and Woohyun could only imagine the man that resided in the wolf’s human form. Seoul wasn’t a small place, but Woohyun hoped, by some miracle, that he’d find him again, even just to witness the flash of white once more. Of course he wondered exactly what he looked like when not shifted, but he simply had no way of finding out for sure.
* The sun once again shone high in the sky, thanks to the heat of the summer, casting rays down upon the earth. Woohyun was a fan of the warmth, though he knew where his boundaries lay, and often much preferred the winter, accompanied by cozy sweaters and hot chocolate. Winter months were far more festive, though the summer had its perks as well, the pleasant, comfortable temperatures being on of them.
So, as he often did on summer afternoons, he decided to take himself out for a stroll through the streets of Seoul and absorb the fresh air and warmth of the late afternoon sun against his skin.
Mind still fixated on the white wolf, he set out for walk, hands thrust deep into his pockets as he walked, wondering again whether he’d ever find the human that the wolf was a part of.

he think’s he’ll treat jinhee to some ice cream later, give the tiny pup her own little treat, let her stretch her paws that night at home. she’d like that, and sunggyu would like to see her little tail wag as she trots about.
driving away from the forest, sunggyu couldn‘t help but glance back through the rear view mirror, wondering if that other wolf was still out there.

Decoris
A gentle breeze whipped Woohyun’s dark locks across his forehead, rustling the leaves of the trees as it swept past, a soft sound, as if the forest was whispering, each individual tree speaking to those around it in a gentle language for only those possessing ears of wood to hear. Secrets were passed in breaths of air, carried on the wind like tales yet to be told, mysteries that only nature was aware of.
All was calm.
Twigs snapped beneath his feet, disturbing the silence only punctuated by the whistling of the wind, though it didn’t deter from the peaceful atmosphere as the sun began to set on the horizon. The ska deep orange, Woohyun gazed down at his hands at they were bathed in a pool of orange light that pierced through the thick cluster of leaves atop the tall tree trunks, branches spread wide.
It was as he weaved between low hanging branches, leaves catching at his clothes, though not hard enough to tear the fabric, that he saw the flash of white. Almost as if something had caught in the light, a reflection off of a piece of metal, though had he been even a second slower he’d not have caught exactly what it was.
A wolf.
It came to a halt nearby, standing in the sunlight. It’s white coat caught on the light, as bright as freshly fallen snow. Woohyun could tell from his scent that it was a werewolf, a male at that. He’d never seen such a beautiful werewolf in his life. He himself possessed a pitch black coat, rather unimpressive, though he’d never thought much on it - he was born with it, so there was no point in being disappointed with his dark pelt. However, next to the pure white fur of the wolf standing feet away, he felt far more displeased with his own fur, for the white wolf was exceptionally beautiful.
He didn’t dare move, scared he’d startle the wolf and send it running. The desire to kep staring kept him frozen in his spot, eyes trained on the werewolf. Even his scent seemed more appealing than that of other wolves - everything about him was intoxicating, perfect.
So he simply watched the wolf with wide eyes, taking a moment to remember his scent in hopes that he’d locate him again, this time in his human form. He was rather curious, for a wolf that beautiful surely must be the corresponding form of an equally as beautiful human.

❝ wolves bane ❞
Drained, in more than one way. Woohyun’s entire body ached, as if he’d thoroughly exerted himself from a particularly long run, or from spending too long at a gym. That, however, was not the case. Having almost all your blood sucked out wasn’t entirely pleasant, not to mention the after effects; dizziness, fatigue, a splitting headache and the overwhelming desire to drink about three liters of water, didn’t make the experience enjoyable in any way.
Feet dragging, any energy Woohyun had once possessed had quickly fled his body along with rather a large amount of blood. He’d rather not take into account the fact he’d had to lug a heavily intoxicated vampire back to his apartment. Simply the memory of have willingly given his blood to Sungyeol made him feel ridiculously stupid. Of course the vampire most likely would have ‘died’ had he not, but right now, in his current mindset, he really couldn’t care less whether the vampire withered away and turned into dust or not.
The house was in darkness as Woohyun neared, lugging his body which felt far too heavy and slow for his liking, up the steps to the front door. Keys in hand it took him a moment, hands shaking, to slide the key into the lock. The door swung open easily, though it took a few tugs to retrieve the key from its place, sheathed within the lock. The house lay in darkness, though Woohyun was sure someone must still be awake due to it not yet being the time everyone usually went to bed by.
Though he hoped they’d decided to get early nights - especially In Guk. He really didn’t want to bump into the alpha in the state he was currently in. However he desperately needed a drink. So with light footsteps he carefully made his way to the kitchen, using every last ounce of agility that still remained in his hazy state he maneuvered through the darkness to the kitchen, flicking on the light as he entered.
Reaching into the fridge he grabbed a bottle of water and hurriedly spun the cap off. He’d drained about half within seconds, hoping to replenish the lost blood with the copious amounts of water he planned on consuming.
He just hoped no one decided to come to the kitchen for a late night snack, just to find him stood with a punctured neck, missing his shirt, and with multiple scrapes a scratches healing slowing on his torso.

xddxsungyeol:
[ ... ]
sungyeol knew he himself was bleeding as well but the smell wasn’t good, vampire blood wasn’t appealing to him, to any vampire. it was reused twice over and a bit disgusting. even so, with his blood leaving him, and his thirst already so high, it was only a matter of moments before he tried to get woohyun to lend him his neck.
and he didn’t want that.
he was afraid.
Sometimes Woohyun really wondered whether Sungyeol was a legitimate vampire, or whether he was simply pretending - he was a pretty rubbish vampire. Of course, Woohyun found it admirable that the elder only drank from those who’d done wrong, like child molesters and rapists, but Sungyeol sometimes seemed as if he had no intention of even going out to find those types of people to feed off of. Simply sitting in his apartment and playing video games it was no wonder the vampire had gotten to this weak point, skin so pale Woohyun could almost see right through him. As much as the werewolf didn’t particularly like Sungyeol, he felt as if he couldn’t simply let the elder wither away from starvation - he wasn’t cruel.
However, he didn’t have any rapists or child molesters to hand, and the only being with blood coursing through their body in the immediate vicinity just happened to be Woohyun.
Though extremely reluctant to the idea, it seemed as if Woohyun was on Sungyeol’s menu for the evening.
Though, as always, the vampire was being stubborn, trying to play the good guy, giving himself up to starvation rather than simply taking what was right in front of him. It was so backward to what Woohyun had learnt about what vampires were like when he was younger. He’d been told the blood suckers would take anything with a pulse and drain it dry without a second thought, that they lacked the conscience that a human or werewolf possessed. Vampires were uncontrolled and thought they were better than werewolves, or so Woohyun had been taught.
Sungyeol went against every single thing he’d learnt - he guessed that was why he didn’t mind him as much as he did other vampires. Sungyeol wasn’t always sad and brooding, dramatic and murderous. Sungyeol had a conscience - sometimes too much of a conscience, to the point Woohyun found himself inclined to worry about the vampire.
So Woohyun found himself doing something he’d never thought he’d ever do.
He willingly offered himself to Sungyeol.
Hands hooking under the others arms he carefully pulled him over to lean against a large trash can, propping him up. With slow, reluctant movements Woohyun found himself shifting to straddle the elders lap, before bringing one hand up to his neck, knuckles scraped, blood lingering over the broken skin. Rubbing his knuckles along the side of his neck he tilted his head.
“Drink, before I change my mind.” Hands coming to grip the sides of the vampires neck his fingers wove together at the back and tugged at him to draw him closer.
He just hoped he wouldn’t regret this.

Woohyun didn’t often ask people he didn’t initially know, out. Saying that, he didn’t usually ask anyone out - he wasn’t exactly the most well versed guy in dating. He’d often admire from afar, catching on the way light clung to the lighter shades in someones hair, or the way their eyes lit up when they talked about something that particularly interested them. He’d notice the way someone walked, their tone of voice; it all added up to create either an image he’d admire, but never approach, or someone beautiful in their own way, just not for him - either way, he appreciated unique beings with their own special flare.
It was something the cashier, Jinyoung, possessed. A specific something that had drawn Woohyun in. It was much more than his pretty face, lean figure, and thick, smooth locks of dark hair. He seemed to have some sort of magnetic qualities - he’d managed to drag Woohyun in within seconds. He was a sweet talker, flattery being almost a fluent second language for the werewolf, but he rarely used it with the intention of asking someone out.
Because that was exactly what he had in mind here. It hadn’t even crossed his mind that the cashier may be straight, though he wasn’t too much of a stranger to rejection, he’d had his fair share of them throughout his twenty-two years.
The reaction he received really should have been expected, The startled expression, obviously not expecting the cripplingly cheesy pickup line, still managed to look attractive on the others face. Woohyun wondered for a moment just how many people had asked the boy out before - he wouldn’t be surprised if it was a lot. His eyes were bright, maybe not huge with prominent double eyelids, but they were lively and had a warmth to them that only succeeded in drawing Woohyun further in.
His lips drew the most attention, Woohyun soon came to realise, as they moved to form words, pushing air past them as he spoke. He only barely caught the comment, too busy watching the tug at the corner of the cashiers lips as he chuckled lightly, the sound rather more enticing that Woohyun would have ever thought a simple chuckle would be. The words only registered for a second before he was falling from the rest he’d found, chin in his palm.
His arm was swept out from under him, the werewolf only managing to steady himself and stand back right before his chin hit the rubber band of the conveyor belt. A flush, light, but still bright enough to be visible, spread across the apples of his cheeks, though it was soon banished from his complexion, forced away by his own humored smile, able to find the funny side of his slight near-accident.
“How many pick-up lines do you usually hear in a month?” His question came accompanied by the same confident smile, though he was slightly worried someone had got in before him and already asked the cute cashier out. Lifting a hand he rubbed at the back of his neck, wondering what to say next - he could get the conversation starter down, but after that he simply had no idea what he was doing.
“So...Jinyoung,” He glanced to the name tag once again, then back to the others deep brown eyes. “I’m Woohyun.” He’d have offered his hand, though it seemed to formal while the cashier was scanning out gum for him.
“I was just wondering, when does your shift end? And when it does...could I take you for coffee?”

[ ... ]
“Wha–?” He breathed somewhere in between that span of time, his hand automatically moving to switch the conveyor belt on; the same conveyor belt that the boy had been resting his arm over. “That has got to be one of the greasiest pick-up lines I’ve heard this entire month.”
Cue another burst of laughter.

Salvator
A canopy of green hung overhead, filtering the ever dimming sunlight into minuscule rays, catching on lower leaves as their edges blurred on their way down to the forest floor. The sunlight, once almost white, now shone a glowing orange, bathing the earth below in the colour of dusk. A peaceful atmosphere to match the emotions nestled in the wolf that made its way between the wooden skyscrapers standing tall.
Paws placed upon uneven ground carried the large animal through the wilderness, the long grass and flowers parting as he made his way through. Rays of light fell upon his dark coat, catching on the flecks of light brown among the thick mass of near black fur, the orange glow dancing across his back as he wove between the trees.
A butterfly fluttered through the branches a few feet ahead, wings batting against the still evening air, the orange glow of dusk catching against its wings and brightening the pinks and teals embedded in the thin chitin. As Woohyun’s eyes caught on the butterfly, following its movements, until the temptation to chase it became too great, and his strong legs carried him onward, faster this time.
The butterfly hurried ahead, Woohyun in fast pursuit, though with no intention of actually capturing the insect he simply enjoyed the chase, and the view as the light bounced off their colourful wings. However, entirely engrossed in chasing the butterfly, the wolf failed to notice the bear trap poised, ready to snap upward, placed among the long grass just ahead.
With only a few more steps Woohyun’s paw landed on the pressure plate in the center, less than a second later the trap snapped, trapping his leg and eliciting a pained howl from his throat. The release switch was only accessible by nimble fingers, which Woohyun currently lacked in his wolf form. The pain, though bad enough to draws whines from the back of his throat, was not yet enough to distract him from trying to escape. He knew he wouldn’t be able to change while stuck, but he couldnt just yank his legs out and rip the skin right off.
The peaceful atmosphere that once surrounded the wolf had now dissipated, leaving behind nothing but a clinging fog of pain and underlying panic - Woohyun had no idea how he was going to get out of this, he just hoped that the rest of his pack would figure he’d got himself in trouble when he didn’t return home later. He could only hope.
