Battle Theme: Truth Exposed ~ Conclusion
Battle intro: “I never quite understood you, given that I don’t trust tabloid journalism and my father did not speak about you out of respect... but I will pick you and your arguments to pieces, Mr. Dove.”
Victory: “So that was the truth of it all... a tragedy, but certainly not worth threatening innocent lives for.”
Defeat: “You--! Just because you’ve made him retreat doesn’t mean this is over!”
Assist: “They don’t know what they’re talking about, do they? Maybe a double dose of facts will get it through their head, hm?”
Taunt: “I can see why my father chose not to speak about you...”
Reacting to Taunt: “That was... low, but I won’t let you get to me.”
Tie: “I’ll be back to drag the rest of the truth out of you.”
Perfect Victory: “And then you never moved on... In a way, I understand some of what you feel... but that just makes my condemnation of your actions even stronger!”

losingmyjustice:
Okay, so, Clive at least managed to put some acceptable clothes on. He didn’t bother fixing the hair, but hey…at least he isn’t running about dressed horribly in a white coat. What kind of person is this Layton, even? Some feral Scientist? Shit, hopefully not.
Clive’s still pissed off, but at least it’s more that he screams internally, instead of lashing out. Not like he has anyone to lash out on — And it’d be a grave mistake to damage anything around him. Before leaving the Townhouse, he did take a quick glance and decided to take a coin with him — (It’s not stealing, right? After all, it IS still Layton’s body, not his, so Layton still has it. Then again…If that bastard uses the same logic on HIS things, Clive won’t be happy.) — In the hopes, it’ll help him calm down when he got something to fiddle with. Although except that, he didn’t bother snooping around, Clive just wants to get the fuck out. Which…Is odd, considering how usually, he’d always love to pry, and this was the perfect chance for such. Perhaps it’s really just because he was feeling mad.
Finally out of the Townhouse, he DID want to go and return to his assigned Apartment, but…considering how he is not himself, that sounds like a terrible idea. But, Clive couldn’t just stay in Cotes Ward either— —He has no clue what kind of reputation this Layton has, doesn’t know the people he associates himself with; Honestly, Clive doesn’t even want to find out. So, getting recognized — Nope. Not happening. Between Fibonacci and Archimedes, there truly wasn’t much of a debate. After all, just a look in the direction of the former showed extremely high buildings, a life Clive wasn’t accustomed to, and one that didn’t exactly fit the isolation he’s looking for. Hopefully, he’ll find a quiet spot in Archimedes — Then, when he doesn’t have to be worried to land in some conflict, Clive can decide what to do next; Time’s still running, after all. It’s not waiting for him.
Off to Archimedes it is, though it’s so strange for Fendi to actually be able to run without worrying that the ache in his chest might turn into abrupt, crushing pain. That was the trouble with having a heart like his, carrying around a pistol wound that was four years old. The sting of that old wound compared well to a self-inflicted scare chord.
“Move,” Al-as-Clive barks, wriggling his way through crowds and paying no heed to the looks thrown in his direction. Even if the guy doesn’t have a reputation in Spirale just yet, it looks like Al’s planning on giving him one. And Fendi can’t even process just how smoothly they’d switched--
Anyway, after grabbing some public transport and hopping off that in the correct ward, Fendi asserts control over their form once again and heads for that familiar trail. He’s searched for it so many times that the path is etched in his head. Idly he wonders if Clive will find it as peaceful and attention-gripping...
Hopefully not the last part, given Fendi’s tendencies to stare deep into the abyss.
“I hope I didn’t get here too early...?” He sweeps his gaze over his surroundings in an attempt to locate his body.

@harimenuis said: topic: diane makepeace
of course you’d pick diane. of Course
ANYWAY. Diane Makepeace. Real interesting gal! I love her aesthetic, I love the way she leads Lucy through the case (as if she’s legitimately interested in having her solve the mystery instead of just flat-out telling her what she knows), and I love That One Line.
I mean, it’s my blog title and everything--
ANYWAY, I find her lack of commentary on Alfendi’s dual-sided personality interesting! She never actively talks about it, and is mostly fixated on just getting revenge on him for what he did to her father. She clearly witnesses him struggling against himself during a blackout cutscene -- (her text is red, his is white)
-- and Fendi doesn’t have the temper to tell Diane to shut up, but Al does... plus, switching in and out too much or arguing with one of your ‘mates can be really fucking disorienting and just writing this makes my head hurt a little. Yet Diane never addresses this, unlike almost every character you interact with in the game. I don’t know if this was a conscious decision or what, but I find it very interesting!
What I also find interesting is how she’s also a three-time victim of the true big bad in this game, aaand I don’t want to say any more on that. But just like Alfendi, Diane suffered because of that person’s plans and actions. Considering her father was a poor alcoholic, I don’t imagine her situation improved much when she was suddenly deprived of his presence.
Lucy says she seemed to be a normal girl underneath everything, but I’m not so sure. After all, revenge has a way of twisting a person, and who knows what Diane would’ve done if she had succeeded in offing a prominent Scotland Yard inspector?

‘A Skitty's adorably cute behavior makes it highly popular. In battle, it makes its tail puff out. It threatens foes with a sharp growl.’
“Neither of us are anything like this little cat. Unless you’re just trying to be a little shit, in which case you’ve succeeded.”
“It is cute, but as Al said, it doesn’t resemble either of us in looks or mannerisms.”

a very good unappreciated pokemon pick, and also, incidentally... already considered. :D (source)
‘Girafarig's rear head also has a brain, but it is small. The rear head attacks in response to smells and sounds. Approaching this Pokémon from behind can cause the rear head to suddenly lash out and bite.’
“I nominate Al for the tail. He’s the one who lashes out all of the sudden, not me. This is a good pick just for that reason, thank you.”
“Way to drag me before I can even get a word in...”

ah geez that’s big but uhhh
‘Plusle always acts as a cheerleader for its partners. Whenever a teammate puts out a good effort in battle, this Pokémon shorts out its body to create the crackling noises of sparks to show its joy.’
‘Minun loves to cheer on its partner in battle. It gives off sparks from its body while it is doing so. If its partner is in trouble, this Pokémon gives off increasing amounts of sparks.’
oh if only Al and Fendi got along like this, hmm? Unfortunately...
“We don’t.”

losingmyjustice:
‘You haven’t switched yet’ SHE SAID. 'So maybe you won’t’ SHE SAID.
Days passed already— Clive was already meant to be back to his own world, back to work, but instead of solving that issue, he just got another, bigger problem to deal with. He found himself somewhere completely else—It’s still a home, but not his, not his assigned one either—No, no-no. Not even his body was his—He found himself in the same shoes from the stranger he has met not too long ago, Athena; In the body of another “Layton” from some other world. He hoped to be home before it could come to this. But Clive wasn’t even close to escaping, unfortunately. Even further away, now as a tall beanstalk. It might take a while until he’s back as himself, and “a while” is too long. At this point, who knows how long it’ll take until he gets back to his own world? If at all?
“NO–NO NONONO— THIS canNOT BE FUCKING HAPPENING—”
He tries to calm himself and his sharp breaths down, but nothing. Rubbing (his) face, shaking (his) head, stomping with (his) feet—-Still panicking. There was no tie to correct, no hat to fiddle with— But a stupid Coat, one he takes off quickly, throwing it aside. To say he was feeling uncomfortable would be an understatement. Standing up, Clive started to walk in circles—taking deep breaths and whispering to himself. This was bad. This was really bad. He’d been told people just “wait it out”, but there must be something faster, right?? HE CAN’T just WAIT HERE!! He’s got to find a way out of this, and a way out of Spirale as soon as possible!! For what else did he make all these Not– …wait. Shit, right, they’re all with…
“OH IF THEY GODDAMNED TOUCHED ANY OF THAT I SWEAR—” He BETTER go and looks for the other, QUICK. …Although, it’d be for the best if he tries and finds some more formal clothes first. These are just going on his nerves. Nevermind the Hair, that’s a lost cause.
@dcilayton
He’s been relieved to be back in his body (and Al’s jumped back with him, wherever he went...) but fate does not believe in letting the man rest. Fate says fuck you and grabs ahold of both Al and Fendi before tossing them away, far away, and both of them land in the same form this time.
The room’s a mess. That’s for certain. They lift an arm to take something off their head, but get distracted by the blue... that familiar blue...
Oh, please say it isn’t so. They hurry to the bathroom, trying to get used to being shorter... the light flicks on and they stare at their new face in the mirror. And what’s looking back at them is...
“Oh... oh no...” Fendi mumbles. “Of all people to switch with, it had to be with Clive Dove.” The exasperation in his voice is clear, emotions still muffled but from exhaustion instead of being caged by command.
He thinks. Okay. The other’s got his body. Where is he going to go? ... Where would he be drawn to? He’d want to be alone, he’d prefer to be somewhere quiet and isolated and there’s a spot in Archimedes that fits the bill. Would Alfendi find Clive there, pondering over the abyss like Fendi himself does?
... Just focus on trying to find and inform the other. Al, however, is pissed and wants his opinion of the situation to be told. Too bad there’s no one worth telling it to yet...

He’s too polite to say it out-and-out, but what he wants to say is ‘get on my level’.
