Hi! I really love your little stories! Can I request a story where Nines deviates because he saw Gavin hurting Connor? Maybe have a cute brotherly moment at the end too? Thanks!

The interactions between Connor and Gavin were ones Nines only ever saw from a distance or heard about. Usually it was Gavin bellowing “get me a coffee dipshit!�� across the bullpen. Or smacking Connor in the shoulder. There were insults, shoulder shoves whenever Gavin passed, all little acts of aggression that nobody seemed to bat an eyelid at.

It was all building though, Nines was keeping tabs on it, tallying up all the times Gavin bullied Connor. On a daily basis Connor had to deal with Gavin’s ill intent. In the end, it was too much. There were laws against such actions, Gavin was meant to be one of the people helping hold up the law and should most definitely abide by them. The final push was when Nines wanted something from Connor and he walked in on Gavin clinging to the RK800′s back.

In the blink of an eye Nines had intervened, picked Gavin off Connor’s back,hefting him up like a scruffy kitten and glared at him.

“That is quite enough,” he intoned. Suggestions of ways to proceed and outcomes were crowding his HUD and Nines was working through the probabilities of success for each other them when a frantic hand tugged at his arm, urging him to lower Gavin.

“Stop it! Nines!” Connor was all but kicking him for attention. “He was just playing!”

Looking between Gavin, now safely back on the floor, and Connor, Nines blinked. “It is okay, he will be suitably reprimanded and he will never bully you again.”

To drive his point home, Nines glared at Gavin who scowled back, a “fucking android” barely held in check.

“Nines. Gavin isn’t bullying me.” Connor drew his attention again. “If anything, I’m the one who is bullying him most days. Today he’s retaliating because I put salt in his coffee.”

That made no sense. Nines looked between the two of them, puzzled. A hand on his was insistently requesting an interface and pushing memories over. Every incident had a precursor, whether it was Connor trying to trip Gavin up in the corridor or gluing his favourite, coffee filled mug down to the desk, there was always a reason. It was incessant, any shoulder check was followed by an immediate smack to the backside and a stuck out tongue, demands for coffee were actually their own way of checking in with each other. Different memories were also shown, kisses that were more nipping teeth against soft lips, tickle attacks and pillow fights.

Nines forcibly stopped the interface as more intimate memories began to bleed through. It didn’t compute, didn’t make sense.

“We’re flirting.” Connonr finally blurted out.

“Badly.” Of course Gavin had to add. Which was the truth. None of Nines’ programs ever prepared him for this kind of behaviour. Between an android and a human at that. His LED spun red as he tried to marry up the idea of this kind of bullying with flirting.

“You know,” Gavin interrupted him, “siblings do this kind of thing too. Though it’s more to annoy rather than flirt. At least I really fucking hope so.”

It was hopeless, Nines gave up and the red wall blinked out of existence. He looked at Connor and Gavin with fresh eyes and a slow grin made his lips curl upwards. He was the superior model after all. The other two had no hopes of even guessing the pranks that were headed their way as of now.
