Translucent curtains surround a mezzanine tea room in the heart of this home, designed by Katsutoshi Sasaki + Associates for a retired couple in Japan’s Aichi Prefecture. The 97-square-metre house is surrounded by a wooden veranda and contains a small tearoom – features the studio hope will perform an important social function for the ageing residents.
