i was watching St Denis Medical and then I took a break to watch The Pitt and now i'm back on St Denis and its an interesting juxtaposition so here's my thoughts on which St Denis characters could survive in The Pitt and vice versa:

St Denis characters who could survive The Pitt:

Alex: she's an all round very smart and competent nurse

Serena: i think she would thrive in a higher intensity environment

Dr Ron: mentally Dr Ron is already in The Pitt

St Denis characters who could NOT survive The Pitt:

Matt: he's having 10 consecutive panic attacks

Bruce: would shatter like glass

The Pitt characters who could survive St Denis Medical:

Robby: it would be like a relaxing vacation for him

Whittaker: i think he would bond with Matt over their shared farmboy heritage

The Pitt characters who could NOT survive St Denis Medical:

Santos: she would murder Bruce and end up in jail

If I had a nickel for every new medical show with a new-to-the-field, awkward, religious, farm boy from the Midwest, who is like if a little mouse wished to become human…I would have two nickels….which isn’t a lot but it weird that it happened twice

Two seemingly contradictory beliefs that we actually must strive to hold simultaneously:

You don't owe anyone anything

Meaning: you do not have to make yourself suffer for the convenience of others

We owe each other everything

Meaning: we could not survive without each other and everything we do to help another is crucial to ensuring our own continued survival

You don't need to be a doormat, but also don't get comfortable slamming the door when you have the resources to extend a hand instead.

characters apologizing for things they have no control over. mumbling sorry while losing consciousness. feeling ashamed of a bleeding wound. embarrassed when an infection sets in. deep seated feverish guilt when they need to be carried, when their legs won't keep them upright anymore and they lean heavy on a friend, slurring apologies..........

i do appreciate the way that we tumblr users have evolved our language to discuss our feelings related to The Character/The Guy. you used to have to just say he was hot or he was making your ovaries explode or he was a precious cinnamon roll even if he looked bad or was just kind of standing there or whatever. now you can say things like “the creature” or “he looks so sopping wet here” or “i want to chain him to my radiator” like it’s just more inclusive and adaptable to the situation

I’m so sorry but in the nicest way possible do yall actually read books or just read words??? Cause I’ve been seeing that trend of people not understanding how “snarled” and “eyes darkened” and “eyes softened” etc. was used in a book and like…

Genuinely, do yall just not have imagination?? Or not understand figurative language??? Also eyes do literally darken and soften have you not lived a life??? How do you read with no imagination? Is this how you get through so many books in one month - you simply don’t take the time the understand the words as they are read?
