I got a new camera
That means it's time for some close-ups!
I love how this camera shows off how truly vivid both of them are, especially Kyoshi. When I rescued her, she wasn't in the best shape - lots of stuck shed, poor husbandry in her previous homes, and much paler due to vitamin deficiencies that have been taken care of since the first day I brought her to my home. Rescuing her was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Finally got to upgrade my baby's enclosure on Monday; between recovering from surgery and having to take care of some dental work, I had to wait quite a few weeks before I could buy the enclosure itself and the TerraSahara... but it was worth the wait.
At least she's happy with her new home.
Pic was taken last night when it started to get a little chilly - keeping New England autumn weather in mind and the fact that the heat makes its way up through glass, a thin layer of stone tiling, and a decent layer of substrate, her hot spot is at a cozy 92°F. If the pet store has any today, I'm hoping to give her some superworms/morio worms.

TW for mentions of surgery and medical issues

So back on July 29th, I had gender-affirming top surgery done and everything was a success. My surgeon had instructed me to sleep sitting upright in a chair or on the couch for the first two weeks, and Dax's enclosure is in my bedroom on top of my dresser. Long story short - even though I was taking care of Dax while in recovery, I think she really missed having me in the room while I was on the couch. She got a little stressed over the change in routine for that period of time and somehow ended up eating a piece of her sphagnum moss, which constipated her and I almost had to bring her to a hospital... until I plopped her in some warm water and bam, she began to pass a long piece of moss that I had to glove up and help her with. After passing a turd the length of a baby carrot, she began to perk back up after another quick soak in some clean warm water. I thought she'd want some space after that whole ordeal, but she just cuddled up on my arm after this pic was taken and stayed there for half an hour.
She is such a sweetheart.
