Jillian Tamaki is my new Superhero
Master master master comics artist (Skim), illustrator, artist, humourist, web-cartooist (SuperMutant Magic Acadamy) and blogger (Jillian Tamaki sketchblog), Jillian Tamaki’s art just lifts me up. I freaking love it. I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to interview her  – and I can’t help feeing that every question I ask is just not going to measure up.

Song for Sunday: Movement 18' (Heroes) by Jon Batiste
I’m not a religious person, but his is sincerely one of my favourite pieces. Very meditative, abstract.

Sunday morning
I am grateful to sit in our tiny but lovely backyard for a moment in the mornings. And burn a cup of coffee. Just kidding. Yeah, we have a little firepit, a little patio area, a grassy area, a place for a tiny vegetable garden, and a wonderful wildgarden. The cat will often come out with me and roll around on the warm cement. We also have a wonderful little space outside too – the shed – to…

Finally picked up Canada Post's Graphic Novelists stamp series
Four great, world-renowned Canadian cartoonists finally get some recognition here at home from Canada Post. The Graphic Novelists series was announced at TCAF earlier this year, which honour Chester Brown, Michel Rabagliati, Jillian Tamaki, and Seth, drawn by the artists themselves. I was really excited this set was being created, but I think I was even more excited to see it on display in our…

More summer flowers!
My favourite flowers are now starting to appear in our wildgarden! Lavender, brown-eyed susan and queen anne’s lace, all roadside plants. I love them so much, reminding me of my hours and hours of time in nature when I was a kid. Apparently, yet again, research shows nature (paticularly biodiversity) is really good for us.

Britain's decline more about austerity economics than Brexit
https://boingboing.net/2024/06/25/john-oliver-britains-14-year-decline-more-about-austerity-economics-than-brexit-but-all-of-it-sucked.html It had been so, so long since I had seen the Boing Boing jackhammerer-in-pigtails icon – this time on Instagram – that I really had to stop for a moment and sort of re-set. What was I seeing? Boing boing, one of the OG link-list blogs of pre-social-media…
