i’m still 100% convinced that the Woodsman has an anxiety issue.  In the comic that explored his and his daughter’s backstory, it’s shown that the woodsman going into a panic isn’t anything uncommon around the house. His wife even tells their daughter to fetch him some tea to calm his nerves, and it’s treated as if it’s nothing out of the ordinary.  And that’s even before he’s spent who knows how long being manipulated by the Beast into believing that if he didn’t collect enough oil for the lamp, then his daughter’s soul would fade away.
