Míranel looked down at Grover for advice. Grover seemed to agree with the stranger. And she had been told Morn had a sister.
"Míranel," she took a couragous step forward and reached up, grabbing the stranger's dangling hand, "Morn is with Míranel's amme."
Sansa gasped theatrically, and dropped into a crouch so she wasn’t looming quite so far above the little one. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to startle you!” She smiled and reached up to tuck her hair back, careful of the fluffy gray ears clipped above her own. Her wolf-costume wasn’t that scary, was it? “I was just looking for Morn. Have you seen him?”

Míranel carefully adjusted her cat-ears hat and considered this newcomer with a grave amount of suspicion as to why she would be looking for Mornernil.
"Maybe," she answered as last, and was even polite enough to reply in english, keeping Grover infront of her just in case.
prettybirdsansa started following you
Miranel had been trying to find the toy bear that she wanted to fight Mornernil’s toy dog with. She was not prepared for the pretty girl who came wandering into Morn’s room. She jumped, peering up at the stranger with the hair almost not quite like Uncle-Nephew Maedhros’ and picked up the nearest toy (a Grover plush) defensively.

(Lies down on her legs while she's watching TV.)
*slides her hands into the warm fur in front of her and then flops forwards and buries her face into the softness* Tebido!

"Yes certainly. Well then.... I... suppose we better finish our shopping."
"AH!" he'd smiled! The other child had smiled at her! And he'd nearly waved but then he'd disappeared again. Míranel sat higher, looking around and trying to find him again, hands tightening in her amme's hair.
"Ouch! Míranel! Gentle hands," her mother reached up and loosened her grip.
"I only have the business cards because they are useful during the spur of the moment."
Ah he was looking at her again. Beginning to show signs of her eventual optimism Míranel waved at the other child again as he peered up at her, twisting her hands into her amme’s hair to keep herself steady.
"We will not be bothering you?," there were beeps beneath them but Míranel was unconcerned, smiling at the other child so he would smile back at her.

"Ah yes of course. My number is on that card. I only have a cellphone."
Her mother was lifting her higher…and higher…. Míranel tottered and gripped her mother’s hair, trying ot find a comfortable seat on her amme’s shoulder.
Toys? The stranger had her full attention. She did not know what a pet was. But toys? She beamed at him, using her best smile and nodded.

"Oh yes many questions," her mother seemed to be stuck in place. Míranel waved again when her first wave recieved a lack of answer and began to kick her feet, frustrated at the lack of movement from her mother.
Her feet hit her mother’s thigh repeatedly until her mother caught her feet, both of them, in one hand.
"Oooffff…but..perhaps not…today, when I have an impatient one on my hip nearing her bedtime."

His father made a little noise, just like the ones that Mornernil made, and he seemed absent when he touched the boy’s back. “No, it’s—it’s very hard to imagine these sorts of circumstances for first meetings. I hardly ever imagined that a box of brownie mix would be witness to this!” There was laughter from his father, to that, but under Mornernil’s ear his Atar’s heart beat faster than ever.
The boy removed himself from his protected spot, as he could hear the boring tone start in his father’s voice. “I—I have questions, and I imagine you do as well.” Yes, well, Mornernil had places to be. He squirmed and tried to be let down, eyes fixed on Miranel.

"Macalaure? Maka...laure...." her mother's tone took on a certain bent to it that had Míranel glancing up at her and the strange smile that was now on her amme's lips. "It is a pleasure...Macalaure... Maglor... very much a pleasure."
Míranel glanced at the other child and saw him looking back at her. Well chastised now she kept against her mother's shoulder but did shyly wave at him.
"This is a meeting I once dreamed of though had put aside as impossible. And never did I envision it would happen like this."
"Yes of course, I am Míriel, and this is my daughter Míranel,” Míranel whined as the child began to make distressed noises and looked up at her mother guiltily. Her mother’s hand moved, handing over one of the white cards she always seemed to have.
"What do you say?" her mother asked her, frowning in way that meant that Míranel had done something not good.
"Ah…" Míranel whined at having to say it but that frown got even worse "a-a-a-aánin apsene”
"Good girl," she was kissed on the forehead. Míranel merely grumbled, not happy at having to have said it.
"I am so sorry, she is very handsy and does not play with other children often."

No, he didn’t like that! He didn’t want her to touch his face—only Atar and Ada could touch his face! Mornernil buried his face into Atar’s neck and wheezed with upset until his father shifted and rubbed his back with one of his hands.
"I wonder if I know them! I’ll ask around the household and see if anyone met you. Your name is…?"

He had a face again!  Míranel leaned out of her mother's hold as much as she could and gleefully placed her hand on that bright red cheek, laughing brightly at how her hand looked against it.
"Caaaaaarnil," she chirped at her ammë.
"Don't be rude," her nose was tweaked and she jerked back, whining at this censure.
"I know about the  Þindar. I ... ran into one a week ago."
Oh no now his face had disappeared. Míranel made a noise of distress and reached out with grabby hands towards the other child, upset at his sudden lack of face.
"Mmm indeed," her ammë said above her in her at home voice but softer and less happy than usual.
Míranel whined at the other child, still trying to reach out and find his face.
"Indeed I have not met another speaker of Quenya in a few hundred years."

His red face only grew redder as he realized he was under scrutiny. Mornernil hid it into the crook of Atar’s neck and balled his fists in his shirt, wondering if the other child would stop seeing him if he stopped seeing himself.
At least his father sounded nice when he spoke the private language. The low vibration of his father’s voice against his ear always gave him comfort. “I think she was a little worried, but she found you fast.” A pause, the low rise of an inhale. “It’s, ah, rare to meet someone who speaks Quenya.”
