”Because you’re still here and you’re still fighting. And whether you want to admit it or not, you still care.” she pointed out, this close to telling Nyssa that she still cared about Thea, but the woman would most likely just deny it anyway. And while their relationship wasn’t perfect and there were many bumps in the road, Thea herself did actually care about Nyssa. If she didn’t, she wouldn’t be here to tell her all of these things and she wouldn’t have stuck around to try and protect her from herself. Speedy could have simply walked away when Malcolm did, but she was still standing in front of Nyssa, her presence and refusal to abandon the other proof that she indeed wanted to save her. Emerald eyes blinked in slight surprise as another comment was barked out, the words catching Thea off guard somewhat, but she kept her stance and let out a small breath next. “The fact that you have hatred at all just proves that you’re unhappy. When’s the last time you felt truly happy, Nyssa? Do you even remember? Are you living or just existing?”
Nyssa struggled for longer than she cared to admit to recall the feeling - happiness, true happiness, without the shadow of her regrets or her vengeance overhanging it all. There had been moments since she came to Star City - glimpses of a life she might have when she finally lay down her sword, if she ever did. People who might one day be truly considered friends if she ever let herself feel close enough to someone to call them that, and mean it. But she wasn’t sure how true any of it was - how much she was just deluding herself in a poor attempt at self-soothing. “Why do you care?” She asked, instead of answering. Though the question was genuine, almost aching. “After everything, why?”

𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐄𝐘 𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐃to the other guy holding her mobile phone, since she was on a live on Tik Tok. ❛ We’re on live, on Tik Tok. And stupid girl, that said that I can’t be creative with my lines. ❜ The jester turned to her phone, showing her middle fingers and stuck her tongue out. ❛ Ya see… Now I want my little gift sugar. I’ll DM you to get my prize. ❜ She says on her ‘live’, and looked at her fried. ❛ Okay, 'cut’! ❜ The guy did what he was told, and handed Quinn’s phone and she shoved on the pocket of her trouser, turned to Nyssa. ❛ C'mon Nyx! My line was kinda cute. ❜ She pulled the Nyssa’s strands behind her ears, and looking her from head to toe. ❛ So, what’s up with ya? Tell something new. ❜
“What is a tick tock?” Nyssa muttered with a small frown as the man brandished the phone at Harley, shooting a small glare into the lens when she was seemingly addressed by the blonde. “I didn’t say it wasn’t creative. But it was hardly swoon-worthy.” She corrected before leaning back against the bar with an unimpressed eyebrow at Harley’s insistence that it was cute. “There is not much new to tell.” She shrugged before pursing her lips for a moment as she considered. “A friend recently challenged me to find something to live for - do you have any suggestions?”

𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐄𝐘 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 an amused smile on her features, when she heard a voice… ❛ Nyx! ❜ She exclaimed excited, and looked at the both males that seems not satisfied with her answer but trying to accepted it. ❛ I’m just making a bet, to see people reaction on the worst pick-up lines, don’t need violence. ❜ She raised her hands up, showing she isn’t seek for problem, and men seems accepting more her response, and back to their business. ❛ The bet is real Nyx. Now it’s my time to see your reaction at my shitty pick up line. ❜ She looked at the brunette, with an impish smile growing on her face. ❛ It’s a poem. I wanna be a pizza, but a pizza I can’t be. ‘cuz pizzas gives to 8 people, and I just wanna give myself to ya.❜ She winks flirty. ❛ Approved?! ❜
“A bet with who?” Nyssa questioned - she had not seen the blonde with anyone else tonight but perhaps it had been a pre-arranged wager. She nodded seriously as Harley decided she was to be her next text subject, her focus entirely on the other woman as she awaited the ‘pick up line’. Her expression didn’t waver for a moment after Harley finished, before heaving out a sigh as she shook her head. “It was terrible.” She answered with genuine pain in her voice. It reminded her all too much of Kory’s terrible pick up attempts too - how unfortunate she was to have two such people in her life. “I’m afraid I don’t know anyone who would be won over by that.”

”That’s not the point. It doesn’t matter if killing Malcolm will or won’t be the thing to condemn you. But every life that you take will pull you under more and more until you wake up completely empty one day because you’ve been sucked into a howling abyss. I don’t want that to happen to you.” Thea knew better than anyone what that felt like, but she was fortunate enough to pull herself out with the help of those who cared about her. And maybe Nyssa needed someone to do that for her too, someone who cared enough about the woman to prevent her from losing herself to the point of no return. “I don’t want to save him, I want to save you. You only think it’s not easy because you’re making it difficult for yourself. Malcolm’s not worth losing yourself over, trust me. Why are you choosing your hatred for him over your own happiness?”
“What makes you so sure it has not already?” Nyssa noted. That emptiness had almost been comforting, when she was younger. To feel nothing as she took a life, or as she received the news of a fellow assassin - someone she had eaten with, sparred with, on rare occasions laughed with - being unsuccessful in their mission, dead and never to return to Nanda Parbat. Being numb to everything had been preferable to feeling it the way someone else might. It wasn’t her fault that Sara had come into her life and become the first ray of hope to break through it. It wasn’t her fault that everyone else kept insisting on creating further cracks in the darkness she had learned to armour herself. “Because I know what to do with my hatred!” She snapped finally at Thea’s question, her voice cracking slightly as she raised her voice, a burst of emotion that was so rare from her. “I know how to use it, to hone it, to feel it, I-” I don’t know what to do with happiness if I find it. She cut herself off abruptly before she could finish voicing the thought and allow Thea that leverage.

“Do you ever go to a bar and not get in trouble?” Nyssa mused with a small smirk as she approached the scene, instantly recognising the blonde that was currently being angrily challenged by two men. “I’m sure whatever she said, she meant no offense. It is just her way.” She shrugged. She found Harley’s bluntness and lack of filter rather interesting, though she understood it probably landed the woman in hot water.
𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐄𝐘 𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒 her own throat before, approaching a man drinking his beer, that she was eyeing on him. The jester was holding her Margarita glass, she tapped on his shoulder. ❛ Hi! Hello! How are ya?! ❜ She says with her cheeks flushed, as the guy turned to her. ❛ Can I help you? ❜ He inquired, crossing his muscle. ❛ Do ya know the difference between the time and the climate? ❜ The jester inquired, as he shook her head and she went on. ❛ NoOoOOo!?!? So, the CLIMax is what’s going on between us, and the time is what yer are wasting right now. ❜ She winks flirty to the male and another guy appeared by his side. ❛ That’s my boyfriend. ❜ The second guy step forward to squinting his eyes to the jester, and Harley let out a giggle. ❛ The more, the merrier! Beautiful! ❜ The jester said to the man who step forward to stared her with arms crossed. ❛ Oh, come on! Can’t ya take my joke?! ❜

The fact that the team they had chosen to support on a whim was winning filled Nyssa with a surprising amount of satisfaction. She let out an amused chuckle as she watched someone get slammed hard into the plexiglass of the ice rink barrier. It was a good thing they wore so much padding, though she found herself curious just how much of a blood bath would be caused if they weren’t. “I am.” She confirmed, giving a small nod. “Thank you, Harley. For teaching me how to have fun.” She said, an aching sincerity in her tone.

𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐄𝐘 𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐍'𝐓 𝐈𝐍 her good spirits these days, at the least, she managed to have fun and finding pleasant company. The jester predicted a night totally different from what happened at the moment. She wasn’t having fun, nor hanging out… Only if Selina managed to drag her out of the bed or when she feels suffocated staring at the plants in-home and thinking about one person in special, when the pain wasn’t clouding her mind, of course. ❛ Anytime Nyx! It’s my pleasure ta make you have fun. ❜ Which was true, she couldn’t believe she’d have fun having half of her limbs plastered.

”Because you killed your own father, right? Oh, wait. My brother was the one who did that, not you.” Thea sneered, but in truth, she didn’t want either one of them to be killers because she felt that both were above that and she was about to voice those thoughts out loud. “You don’t have to be a killer, Nyssa. Like your father. You’re better than that and so am I. We shouldn’t turn into the men that were never there for us, that we grew to despise.” she didn’t think that Nyssa wanted to be like her dad, much like how Thea would do everything in her power to not end up anything like Malcolm. And while Nyssa might not believe it, Speedy did actually care for her - enough to want to protect her from herself. “Malcolm’ll get what’s coming to him, but I won’t let you destroy yourself.”
Nyssa’s jaw clenched at Thea’s pointed words, resisting the instinct to lash right back at the younger woman. “An option he took out of my hands.” She defended. If Oliver had not had the strength to claim Ra’s life, she was determined she would do it herself. Letting him live had not been an option to her, no matter what it might have cost. “I have made peace with what I am, Thea.” She denied. Thea had not been born a killer, she had been forced into the role by Malcolm. Her soul had not been corrupted to the point where it was beyond saving. But Nyssa had known nothing else - the best she could hope to become was a necessary monster. “I have done countless irredeemable things, crossing your father off my list would hardly be the thing to condemn me.”
She let out a sigh, a brief crack in her armour as she ran a hand through her hair, snagging slightly on a tangle that she fussed over. “I understand, why you don’t want this. To save yourself, perhaps in someway to save him. But I... I don’t believe it is so easy. His sins are ones I cannot forgive. And I know it will not heal anything in me or make anything that happened right. But I still want it.”

“i usually stay in star city for work sometimes. i prefer central.” alex admitted - it was easier to acclimate to central than it was to star city for some reason, it felt more like national city, and by extension, midvale. alex’s hands stilled a little at nyssa’s observation, apprehension washing over her features for a brief second before she shrugged her shoulders, “i guess you’re right.” alex agreed bashfully, before finally she peered up at her again, “well, you’ve got a friend face if you ever need to do something that’d better be done with company. like…going to a concert, maybe.”
“I can see its appeal.” Nyssa conceded. Personally she preferred Star City - even though it would never have been her first choice of a place to call ‘home’, the dark underbelly of the city was one she settled into comfortably. “You flatter me.” Nyssa laughed at the woman’s compliment - she had never been told before that she had a friendly face. Quite the opposite really. But lie or not, she appreciated the gesture. “I confess I have never actually been to a concert.” She admitted with an uncharacteristically sheepish smile. “So I would not be against that idea.”

The jester back to drink her beer, and eat her junk food happily. ❛ Are yer havin’ fun, Nyx? ❜ She turned to the brunette besides her.

”Of course I didn’t.” she gave a quick shake of her head at Nyssa’s remark about her not having let Malcolm get away without a fight. She hadn’t, mostly because he didn’t deserve such an easy escape. He needed to know how angry he’d made her and how detached she now was from him emotionally. All these years, all she wanted was a family and for months, Thea had tried to get one, to finally have a familial bond with her father. But Malcolm just wasn’t suitable for that role and as much as that realization hurt, the brunette was now coming to terms with it. “And he’ll pay for what he did, trust me. But I refuse to do it your way.” Thea explained, her tone of voice and expression both determined as well as firm. She knew better than anyone that taking a life, even that of her own father, would only turn her into him and Speedy refused to be the person she was growing to despise more and more each day. “I don’t want to be a killer. I don’t want to be like him.”
Nyssa’s back straightened defensively at the younger woman’s tone. “My way would keep him out of your life for good. You should be thanking me.” She insisted stubbornly. There was little in the world she wanted more than to see Malcolm dead - but constantly standing between her and that goal was the staunch moral compass of Oliver Queen and his ilk. “I am not asking you to be a killer, Thea. I am asking you to step aside and let me be one.”

“Well, this brings back memories.” Nyssa muttered as she trailed her hands over the bars of the cage sitting in the centre of Oliver’s little den. At least this time she was on the outside of it rather than the one being held captive. “So, who exactly did you bring this out for?” She questioned. A selfish part of her hoped that Oliver might be planning on a little retribution against Malcolm for manipulating his sister. But the more likely guess was he planned to apprehend someone responsible for the recent kidnapping of his young protégé.

“I assure you, I am fine.” Nyssa dismissed the nurse fussing over the hastily patched up knife wound at her side. She had sat still long enough for them to get the stitches in, but she had no interest in sitting around waiting for them to ‘clear’ her - if she got an infection later from the rusty blade she had dealt with worse in her time with the League. She would manage fine, and she was eager not to stick around too long, lest her cover story not hold up to scrutiny. It was airtight enough to pass basic background checks - but she worried the hospital might run additional checks, just like immigration had when she first arrived in Star City.
“Ma’am, please-” Nyssa paid her no heed, shouldering past a blonde who was standing in the hallway without so much as an apology or backwards glance. “I am fine.” She bit back tersely again, sorely tempted to simply incapacitate the woman to stop her incessant attempts to help, begrudgingly reminding herself the woman was only doing her job - and being kind, even if it was frustrating. “Tend to someone else - that woman back there, maybe.” She grunted, nodding her head back towards the person she had rudely shoved out of her way.

Nyssa had been tempted to slip into Verdant after hours, but she knew Thea deserved the respect of neutral ground instead of starting a confrontation in her place of business. Especially since she knew Malcolm had not treated it so kindly as of late. She waited patiently instead on the route she knew Thea most often took on her way back to her apartment, hands tucked it into the pockets of her coat as she lurked in the shadowed awning of a long-closed shop front.
“Disappointment upon disappointment.” Nyssa muttered with a frown at Thea’s greeting statement, her jaw clenching at the knowledge Malcolm was still roaming the streets of Star City without retribution being paid. “I had hoped you would have better news for me. Tell me you at least didn’t let him go without a fight.”
Thea hadn’t seen or spoken to Nyssa ever since their last encounter with Malcolm. It was bothering her that she and the other female were currently on bad terms, but at the same time, she wanted to stand her ground. What she had with Malcolm was her business and not anyone else’s. She’d let Nyssa take care of her issues with her own father, so Thea expected the same treatment in return. Speedy had wanted to take down Malcolm, she did, but at the same time, she also didn’t want to be a killer. Killing people wasn’t what she did or what she wanted to do - despite her being a member of the League Of Assassins. She wanted out, but the brunette was painfully aware of the fact that there was only one way to leave and that was through death. Naturally, Thea didn’t have any interest in dying and ever since she knew she wanted nothing to do with them anymore, she’d been trying to think of some sort of loophole and get her freedom back. Tonight had been another night where Thea had worked damage control on Verdant to put the club back on the map and reopen its doors. After finishing up for the night, Speedy locked the venue behind her and started making her way back home through the streets of Star City. She was about halfway through when she spotted a familiar face in the distance and the closer Thea got, the clearer it became to her who it was. Deciding to approach the other, she slowed her pace and blew out a small breath upon reaching Nyssa, looking right at the woman. “So Malcolm’s still alive… and before you even ask, no, I don’t know where he is.”

𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐄𝐘 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐔𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆her fingers, that was dirty of ketchup, and back to eat other thing, now her French fries, she dipped it on the sauce, and eating it slowly, paying attention on the game. ❛ I hope yer suspicion is real deal, if I wasn’t so fucked up, I’d start chaos myself in it. ❜ She refers her physical condition that wasn’t giving her any favors. With the same hand she used to pick her friends she held her beer once more drinking it a huge gulp, her glass was getting a tad oily with French fries and ketchup. And the team made another score. ❛ That’s kinda sucks ‘cuz I hardly can see when they make a score. ❜ The players was so fast, and the crowd was yelling for their respecting teams, rooting for them. ❛ I wanna throw this chip on that loser down there! He is sleeping! This is not a place ta sleep! ❜ She put her beer on the tray and picked one chip, and tried to aim to the man in the row down them, and threw the chip onto the man’s face that was sleeping with his mouth open, and he woke up startled, and she smirks.
“By all means.” Nyssa chuckled. She wasn’t one to purposefully cause chaos herself, but she had to admit when it was reasonably harmless she found it amusing. She wouldn’t stop Harley if she started a brawl or small riot - actively aiming to kill anyone and then she would be compelled to step in if only for the sake of her newfound conscience, weak as it was. Nyssa snorted out a laugh when Harley threw the chip dead centre onto the man’s face, glancing away innocently when he looked around for his assailant. She waited until he had turned back around, blinking blearily and seemingly ready to fall back into a slumber. Nyssa was honestly in awe - with the noise in the arena she couldn’t understand how the man was so easily passing out. “Are we keeping score?” She questioned, picking up her own chip and aiming it with an archer’s precision to bounce off the man’s nose, startling him again.

𝐀𝐒 𝐌𝐔𝐂𝐇 𝐀𝐒 Harley wants to do certain things on her own, in her physical condition in the moment, accepting a help wouldn’t be too bad. ❛ If ya don’t mind… ❜ She needed help just to a few parts of the place to move around, the others parts she managed herself well with the help of her crutcher. — Once they were in their seats, she relaxed a little, breathless with her own cheeks flushed from the effort to walking around until found their seats, plaster weighs half of her entire body is covered on plaster.
❛ Let’s root for the wolf team, I don’t like the bird mascot. ❜ It was ugly, and the wolf reminds of her hyenas. Whilst she waited to Nyssa, she observed the surroundings, very relaxed. She couldn’t contain her smile at the sight of food. Nyx seems that knows the way through my heart! A voice told on her mind, at the variety of food she brought to them. Harley knows she’ll have a small struggles to eat with only an arm, but the way the brunette was eating, she wouldn’t be judging her.
❛ Yer a lifesafer Nyx! ❜ She kissed her cheek, before picking up the corn dog, and dipped it on the ketchup pot, and eat it, holding the stick with her uninjured hand, and watched the game that just started. ❛ Why those dudes looks like a robot? ❜ She spoke chewing with her mouth full, and adjusting her plastered arm, closer to her own body to not hurt herself even more. She put her food on the tray brief before drinking her beer and it foams made beard on the blonde, and she tries to licked it, and back on eating. ❛ Y'anno what would be cool? Bash the brain out of them with that stick! ❜ A wicked laughed escaped on her mouth when she imagined that scene. ❛ I’m kiddin’. ❜ She clears her own throat before back to eat, so she wouldn’t need to answer anything the brunette may ask if the other wanted.
Nyssa accepted the title of ‘life-saver’ proudly as she sat down next to Harley, kicking up her legs to rest on the seat in front of her and ignoring the dirty look it earned her from the person in front. She let out a low chuckle when Harley’s ‘joke’ clearly didn’t resonate with the rest of the crowd, shaking her head as she drank from her own beer. “I suspect that is against the rules. However I have heard these games can get fairly violent in other ways.” She noted, an excited glint in her eye at the prospect.

”That’s my battle to fight, not yours.” Thea refused to be treated like an infant. She knew that Malcolm had a lot of enemies, but she wanted to be the one to deal with him and not anyone else. She was an adult and she was taking responsibility for her own actions, starting with kicking her father’s ass for ruining Verdant and lying about it. As much as she wanted a true relationship with him, expecting one to actually come to fruition was naïve. It would never happen and Thea wanted to be happy and move on with her life - but Malcolm wouldn’t bring her joy, he’d only lie to her and hope that she believed what he’d tell her. Speedy stayed firmly in place, showing Nyssa that there was no bargaining regarding this event and that she wouldn’t budge - not for anyone. “You fought your battle with your father when he was Ra’s Al Ghul, now I’m fighting mine with my father.”
The mention of her own usurping of Ra’s gave her pause. Maybe Thea was right - no matter how much Nyssa might loathe the man and want him dead for everything he had done to her, Thea deserved the chance to face her demon head on just as Nyssa had. “Fine.” She conceded, sheathing her sword before shooting a warning look at Malcolm. “But I won’t wait forever. If he crosses me again, he’s mine.”
