Meanwhile, the wizard’s lair is just cozy as hell. You could be thrown at mach speeds and never get a bruise.

Last update!!!! I finished my CatKnit Pullover! I’m literally in love. Knitting this took about 2 months?? Completely worth it! Now I gotta figure out what project to do next! 🧶

Friends, Fiends, Lovers and if I create a retelling of Medusa so full of queer love, the messiness of love vs upbringing with a heavys seasoning of old conservative/religious parents, and a dash of belonging.

Cw: a hateful kind of religion, queer suppression, controlling mother

Not the story but my pitch

What if Medusa doesn't turn others to stone and is instead is a mother grieving her "lost" children. Each running from her the moment they have the chance. One runs off to college, one runs off with a boyfriend, and one is still in her grasp, not able to leave yet.

But the mother is stuck in the past of who they were and not the person they're transitioning into now. Creating tableus of someone that doesn't exist at every turn. Idealizing and petrifying all artifacts of who they were. Surrounded by a cult of people telling her how to feel about her children. Heretic. Whore. Sinner.

Haunted by the ghost of her authoritarian father who forced her to hide who she was for the church. Poseidon taking something different from her. Her sense of self. Stripping her of autonomy and individuality. Instilling the fear of otherness into her. So she is afraid. She lives on her island of fear and control. Believing if she can just get through to this one she won't be alone. She'll be understood.

But the battles waged aside dry pork chops and salty asparagus dash those dreams against an unforgiving shore.

Naive. Brainwashed. They're not trying hard enough. She tried so hard. She threw everything away for this life. To give her children a chance at normalcy. Why did they all want to spit that back in her face? Why can't she want them to be safe? Don't they know what everyone is saying about them? The things they said will happen to them? How God won't forgive them for their choices. How will God forgive her for not being able to save them? What kind of a mother is she? Worse than her mother and her mother's mother. But isn't there merit in trying. Shouldn't there be mercy for how hard she's trying?

And when she shares this with her child, and when her child cries for her? Is this mercy? It is a mercy to be held even when you don't deserve it. When you child tells you they're dying, gasping for breath and you smother them in scripture. What kind of damnation is it for them to warble in that tiny voice, the same voice that they used to call out 'mom' in a sleeping house, knowing she'd come running in an instant, to use that voice to say "you're killing me."

What apology is there? God could not have written such a word in scripture. The fire that consumed Sodom and Gamora pales in comparison to the burning shame she feels in her gut. How her heart aches with the weight of the world.

When she has refused to share her love with her...son. Her son, Percy.

Her son who is patient with her as she learns. Who even when they fight, still comes back. Unlike his sisters. Who...she doesn't deserve to see. They owe her nothing, especially considering the person she was to them. The person she's trying to learn not to be.

Percy told her to lead with the love that led her to understand him. Lead with love, not fear. And she's tried. Instead of telling him "don't tell the family, I don't want them to hurt your feelings or say the wrong thing" she tells him "if you want to tell the family I will support you." She will hold his hand, call him her son, and dare anyone to hurt him the way that she did.

Medusa hand in hand with Perseus, protecting him like she was meant to, like she should have done at the start.

my colorwork yoke is DONE! :D i’m diverting from the pattern by doing the rest in pure stockinette stitch instead. i’m so proud of how this turned out - i can’t believe i pulled this off so well! now i just need to knit the rest on my 3.5 mm needles :’)

Hello all!! I have finished the colorwork part of my CatKnit Pullover! Around the yoke are 11 cute kitties. You can also see my cat Apollo in the background, my little muse.

I’ll try and update you all as I finish the body and sleeves. I’m a little bit nervous about doing tubular bind off for the first time, so I hope y’all bear with me if my ends aren’t the neatest. Thanks for so much love so far on this project! I’ve been on tumblr for years and my knitting projects are the first things I’ve really posted so it’s nice to see the love! 🫶

i dropped by my favourite secondhand bookstore and found what is possibly the most incredible knitting book iver ever seen. that teaches you how to knit little gardens and sew them into a massive quilt 3d. the photos i took are atrocious and do NOT do this book justice

I’ve finished knitting my Halibut Sweater! This took about three weeks (with a 4 day break in the middle for finals and resting my hands). This was a really fun knit and I’d recommend trying it! 🧶
