HARRENHAL FUCKERY!

The place is haunted, not just by the spirits of the dead from there, but the spirits housed in weirwood bones used to build the castle and the furniture, etc etc. It's not just haunted by spirits either. Like, Princess Rhaena still walks those halls, but I can tell you she's absolutely become more than a simple shade.

Aegon himself is gonna go through it. Harrenhal has a bone to pick with the Targaryens, not just from the Conquest and the burning of the land's memory, but also of the subjugation, the blood screaming in the mortar from all those who were enslaved by Harren.

IDK how else to put it. I feel like Harrenhal not only portrays the horrors of feudalism to the extreme, but on a micro level, is symbolic of the generational trauma that it's walls have seen through the families.

Something I really appreciate about the classics is the interactive... IDK how to put it. When characters speak with the dead, either floating through dreams to learn from them and have conversations, or to be visited by them, etc. I definitely want to explore that with Aegon at the very least (I think I'll be approaching things differently with Abby?)

The lady-in-waiting and swornsheild of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen during her younger years, the pair were said to be inseparable from their princess during their time of shared service, following the heir to the Iron Throne wherever she went. Whispers followed them at court for decades, that their association grew to be more intimate than shared service to the princess, though it was never proven.

Wards of Lady Deidre Strong and her later husband, Lord Samwell Blackwood, Dyana and Tristan Rivers, said to be Lord Blackwood's younger half siblings, were suspected to be the result of an affair between the lady and the Kingsgaurd, though none ever dared to say due to Queen Alicent's favor and patronage for Ser Criston and friendship with Lady Deidre.

I guess the heavy rain traditionally brought me inspiration after all, even though it's now really hard to not read all sound of thunder as explosions. Unfortunately russian attacks on our homes happen more often than thunderstorms. Wonder if this will ever go back to normal. Let the Reader Know Something the Character Doesn’t

This is how you make readers scream at the book. Let them know the murder is waiting just beyond the door. Let them see the traitor slip poison into the drink. Let them watch helplessly as the character walks into a trap. The best tension isn’t just about surprise, it’s about dread.

Raw emotion isn’t about saying he was sad or she was furious. It’s about what their body does before their brain catches up. Does his throat tighten like he’s swallowed glass? Does her hand grip the table so hard her knuckles turn white? People feel before they name it. Write the feeling first.
