Hot Water

We finally have hot water back. I’ve been taking showers until the broiler can’t give any more hot water. It’s helping me slowly recover from feeling like hell.

I’m kind of ambivalent to playing on Balmung lately, however. Not long after we lost the broiler, someone I was close to did something rather shitty, and I ended up just walking away from them entirely. Unfortunately, when the server opened again, they transferred back to the server. I’ve already run into him a couple of times at community RP events, and it really sort of drug me down.

There’s been consideration of moving off server, which is saying something since I started on Besaid. I’d leave a couple of characters on Balmung, remake a few to hold names in case I ever felt like transferring back. I haven’t really decided if that’s the answer though; I really don’t need the additional stress, since stress is literal pain thanks to the fibromyalgia.

Gonna continue to consider what I’m doing as I work on stuff.

Medication Shortage

Despite having been on over 20 medications for a few years, something that never happened before occurred this week/weekend.

Apparently, the injectable painkiller I take (toradol) has become largely unavailable (at least in this area, for the public).

I got a call a touch over a week agon from the main pharmacy I use. They had to do some sort of reauthorisation for the medication, which meant contacting my doctor and doing the whole process over again. Apparently they had some sort of massive update for certain kinds of medications that forced it.

This past Friday, I got a call telling me that the pharmacy chain cannot get the medication at all, as their supplier is out, and apparently has been for nearly a month. They wanted to call the doctor and try to get something else prescribed, but the migraine clinic has very specific medications it uses.

So I got a call on Saturday (every other Saturday, they have to do a half day to cover all the migraine shots that need to happen) from neurology asking if I wanted to try a different pharmacy chain. Then they called again today saying that they’d had some issues with the switch; that I might have to get it directly from the hospital pharmacy.

Luckily, at least for the moment, a pharmacy that’s about half way between myself and where the system’s main hospital was able to get it. It’s possible this will happen again, and if it does, I’m basically going to have to either get it at the hospital, or go to mail order.

It’s pretty unnerving to suddenly have medication suddenly be difficult to impossible to get. A decade ago, I couldn’t afford all the medication they were starting to put me on, but being able to be given the medication, but it basically ceases to exist for any amount of time...it feels almost worse than not being able to afford it.

Got some sleep, though I woke up basically after every sleep cycle - just could go to right back to sleep.

Unfortunately, this morning it seems like I am developing an upper respiratory infection. Throat still hurts, and now I’m coughing a bunch. Dunno if that’s related to the surgery (they mentioned the kidney stone can basically collect infections, but I would expect a UTI over this), or just a really shitty coincidence.

Definitely feel like hell though.

Mum went totally overboard with my request for turmeric capsules. She bought me two months worth, my guess is that CVS was having a BOGO sale on supplements again.

It works out all right, though. Turmeric helps with the inflammation from the EDS and the fibro, so it’ll go to use. I just was not expecting this much bloody turmeric.

Managed to get just shy of two hours of sleep, but the quality was absolute crap; my Watch yelled at me over it. I’m eating a bit right now, then I’m going to try again. If I can’t get to sleep, I’m taking the toradol, cus I’m exhausted.

whelp, my back just popped for the first time since the surgery finished, and man...know exactly where that fucking stent is. not even the voltarin gel i have is killing it. i may risk the toradol injection, even though it thins the blood.

save me, or kill me, or upgrade me to the major’s body - just make it stop.

thought i was doing well, then suddenly, i’m throwing up violently. instructions say that if nausea and vomiting occur and persist, head to the ed. so far, it’s getting near an hour mark. took zofran. hope it’ll chill out so i don’t end up back at the hospital again. gdi.

Exterminate!

Surgery successful. The kidney stone has been exterminated.

Downside is that I swell like a dead body in the Sahara, so I have to have the temporary stint for two weeks, instead of the typical week or less. Thank you EDS, but not really.

Probably gonna rest a bit after I finish eating. Couldn’t eat since midnight EST - my blood sugar was at 87, which upset mum, cus hers can never get down even close to that.

So, my kidney stone surgery is tomorrow morning. It’s blocked out from 8:45 AM EST till essentially 3 PM EST. I’m hoping that afterwards, I’ll start feeling better.

We still have no hot water, much to a number of people’s distress. Part of that is sheer cost, part of it is that the electrician is out of town till the 8th, but mostly it’s been mum being too stubborn about getting help. She also forgot to go pick the damn thing up this Saturday past, but thankfully it’s a friend of mine that’s procuring it via his work for us.

Meanwhile, to keep myself from stressing over the anaesthesia, I’m checking out how much the trip to the Bristol Anomaly is gonna cost. So I can better plan on savings for it. I may shut off my WoW account and secondary XIV account to turn more money towards my savings/investment fund.

Tentative dates are 20th March - 27 March. Depending on how well saving money goes, I may stay for a tic two weeks to have it cross over the Brit’s birthday.

Likely going to stay in an AirBnB, since I will need a kitchen. I started using an app called Yazio that has built in meal plans, and it’s helping - and cooking frequently is making me pretty happy. Besides, I have to make bread for the Brit and a couple friends I have from EQ/EQ2 in London.
