Honestly, I do not want to sound like I have any experience with running this because I don't.
But I've seen printed zines have limits of around 2-3k words max? They can be limited because of the price of printing or just the sheer volume of pages, or simply the time and effort required on the side of the writers. Digital only zines would suffer less from this problem. I suppose it depends on the number of contributors too; potentially if you have a certain number of pages as a goal, less people would get more space...
Of course one would figure out the nuts and bolts later, but yeah, a few thousand words, I suppose?
Would you be interested in a Red Dwarf slash zine/rimster zine?
This has been on my mind for a while since I found out RD hasn't really had one, and I thought it would be a fun thing to do. If people are interested, it could be something worth looking into.
Since I love physical zines, I always think of them as printed projects first, but I am also for a pdf version or both.
I imagine it would be open to anyone who'd want to contribute fic or art since this is a very small fandom. It would be preferable if it was 18+ just to be on the safe side.
*What I have in mind is that the price would cover only printing costs and shipping.
As I mentioned above, I am aware of alternatives like pdf and print ready pdfs for people to print themselves, and I am interested in what way it would be best to go about this :)

Jagdea and Marquall from Double Eagle by Dan Abnett. I don't often try to pull book characters out of my imagination, but it was fun!
I do recommend the book if you want some fun pilot action à la Top Gun or Ace Combat. It is a Warhammer 40k story, but it barely matters and the setting adds just a bit of flavor.
#warhammer 40k#wh40k art#fanart#i accidentally saved and exited a cropped version of the psd file#so marquall here has been lost aside from the png#the prodigal son is gone again

2, 9, and 19 for the ask meme!
Thank you very much for the questions!
2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)
I've never given it much thought, but I think it's easier for me to draw faces facing left. Because I'm right-handed, my hand then obscures the back side of the head rather than the face itself. Even if it doesn't matter for digital, I suppose it's something that carries over.
Not forward. Never forward. That's the stuff of the devil.
9. What are your file name conventions
I usually try to name the file according to what I draw (since I usually do it with intent from the start), but it's always some abbreviated form. It mostly doesn't make sense to me until I see what it actually is though, so it's pretty useless.
As an exception, my files for the recent RD fanarts are numbered ("rd1" to "rd17" now etc). Because I started drawing for it on a whim, I didn't go in with intent, but then the naming convention stuck.
19. Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.)
I don't mind drawing katanas. They're cool. I got a lot of practice while drawing my bachelor's thesis project years ago because it was a comic set in feudal japan. When I started drawing for One Piece, particularly Zoro, I was already comfortable with them and mostly had fun drawing them. Since I started practicing iaido around that time as well, I also gradually got quite familiar with them from up close, so now I can whip up a fairly faithful looking drawing of a katana from memory!

Weirdly Specific Artist Ask Game
Didn't see a lot of artist ask games, wanted to make a silly one.
(I wrote this while sick out of my mind last year and it's been collecting dust in my drafts, I might as well let it run free) 1. Art programs you have but don't use
2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)
3. What ideas come from when you were little
4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw
5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself
6. Anything that might inspire you subconsciously (i.e. this horse wasn't supposed to look like the Last Unicorn but I see it)
7. A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate
8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in
9. What are your file name conventions
10. Favorite piece of clothing to draw
11. Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what
12. Easiest part of body to draw
13. A creator who you admire but whose work isn't your thing
14. Any favorite motifs
15. *Where* do you draw (don't drop your ip address this just means do you doodle at a park or smth)
16. Something you are good at but don't really have fun doing
17. Do you eat/drink when drawing? if so, what
18. An estimate of how much art supplies you've broken
19. Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.)
20. Something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy
21. Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways
22. What physical exercises do you do before drawing, if any
23. Do you use different layer modes
24. Do your references include stock images
25. Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by
26. What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended
27. Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with
28. Any art events you have participated in the past (like zines)
29. Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically
30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated

The past two months I've been struggling hard with finding any kind of inspiration or motivation to draw... I was super stressed about finding a new flat and moving, but now that I've mostly settled in the new place, I hope that I'll be able to find my feet again and my appetite to draw will eventually return, no matter what the subject will be.
#the only appetizing subject rn are characters from a book i read recently#but i'm pretty scared of drawing them too ;_;#but drawing stuff from books might be a good way to stimulate the creative muscle?#idk

I might have asked this before... might even gotten an answer... cant find it.
Does anyone remember the number of 2000AD Dredd comic, where Joe is basically forced to go on a leave because of an injury... And while recuperating at home, neighbors from his block invite him to a tennants meeting (or something similar)...and he accepts (against his best judgement) and then suffers horribly, because he cant deal with this kind of social situation (mood). And the whole vibe is that he will either kill himself or kill everyone in the room (and then himself) if he stays...or start crying.. but he manages to politely excuse himself and then escapes back to work. (or he just runs out because there is an emergency or comething.. i cant remember)
...been looking for this for a while.
