Dear members,   

It is with great sadness and regret that we announce that DarkDescent will be going on hiatus. This is not a decision we take lightly, but due to the lack of interest and activity we have had the last few months Admin Maya and myself have decided this to be the best course of action right now. We would love to continue again in the future, but when and if that is possible we don’t know. A massive thank you goes out to all our amazing members and the characters they brought to us, it was a pleasure to plot with you all. To anyone who applied even if it wasn’t successful,  whoever showed an interest, or sent us a kind word I thank you as well. 

DarkDescent was the first roleplay I ever joined, and helped admin, so it will always have a special place in my heart as well as all the characters I played. I hope to leave you all with fond memories of this rp as well even if they are brief. To all our members thank you for joining us, I loved meeting you all, and getting the opportunity to plot with you. To our members who returned to us an extra thank you for coming back after our previous hiatus and I hope to have the opportunity in the future to plot with you again. I wish you all the best!

Descent was maybe the second or third group I joined and the first one I became an admin of — it’s also, to this day, the best rp experience I’ve ever had. My characters and the plots they were a part of, as well as our wonderful members (both veterans and newer additions) are really special to me, and I’m going to miss everyone. Biography.

Mary was born to two werewolf parents, she was one of three children. They were a happy family for a few years and Mary loved her two sisters completely. Everything was joyful in her childhood until one day when a rogue shadowhunter arrived at the Jenkins household and murdered her parents and assumedly her two siblings, fortunately Mary escaped. The rest of her childhood was spent constantly moving from foster parents. Due to the events that occurred that tragic night Mary has held a grudge against the shadowhunters for stripping her of her family.

Now she has been presented with an opportunity to live within the institute and perhaps find the shadowhunter that murdered her family. Whilst to the outside eyes it appears that she is cheerful and at the institute for all the right reasons but behind closed doors she has a secret agenda and is willing to do anything necessary to uncover the truth and bring justice to her family.

When Mary was 16 she was kicked out of her foster family and left on the streets, the government tired of finding replacements for her. She made her way to New Orleans where she lived for a few weeks before she was taken in by Artemis Trang’s pack. She can now finally agree after all these years that she’s found a new family although the memories and feelings of her actual family will never leave, the pack has created a safe and welcoming environment where she can express herself and feel like she belongs and is wanted.  

Whilst Mary is standoffish to some of the older members of the pack, she feels close to Artemis and thinks of her like a replacement mother, although she is unsure if the feeling is reciprocated. Mary would do anything for her pack, just for their approval. Whilst majority of the pack moved to New York soon after the Clave wished it, Mary stayed back in New Orleans unsure If she was ready to pledge her allegiance to such a abusive society. She was certain she’d decided to run away from the issue and overall the pack when a thought dawned on her that she’d be leaving behind another family and chance at happiness, it also allowed her to create the perfect situation to explore what had happened all those years ago and that overruled her thinking and she made her way for the institute keen to be reunited with certain pack members.

Hello, I'd like to ask if I can use Tom Ellis as Face Claim, as he does not fall into any of the banned categories.

Yes, Tom Ellis would be a great FC to see! But for future reference as long as the face claim doesn’t fall under the banned categories you can use them.

Biography.

When she first came into the world Celine was a mere shadow of her current self. She was raised in The Faerie with her mother Saoirse, a lady in the Seelie court, and her father, Nathaniel Stark, a former shadowhunter. Celine was not supposed to be born and she carried this knowledge her whole life. Her father had been engaged to another woman when he met her mother, and he abandoned his old life and everything that came with it when he decided to pursue a life with his fey love. She was sneered at by both sides of her heritage, the fey viewing her as impure and her nephilim family viewing her as a constant reminder of Nathaniel’s dishonorable actions. The negative light caused Celine to create a shell for herself, finding solace in only her parents. Despite the outside perceptions Celine’s parents raised her with all of their love. It was there in her home that she only felt welcomed as herself. 

Nearing the age of ten, Celine’s safe bubble was popped. Her mother was taken and killed in revenge for an old standing feud with the rival Unseelie court, and as safety measures the heartbroken Nathaniel ran back to Idris to keep Celine safe. Idris and the Stark family were cold and unwelcoming to the young girl, treating Nathaniel and her as if they weren’t family. Celine was used to this kind of attention but she saw the hurt in her father’s eyes, and she was determined to win over the family’s favor. If not for herself, then for her father. In the face of her family’s disapproval Celine worked endlessly to be the model child and shadowhunter. Despite missing her home land and the ways of the fey, she adopted the shadowhunter lifestyle and made a way for herself in the community. As time went on she found it easier to ignore the fey part of herself, hiding the slight point in her ears under her hair and avoiding her mother in conversation. It hurt her to purposefully forget or ignore her mother, but pining over her would not bring her back and Nathaniel was all she had. This was her life now. Nathaniel realized that staying in Idris was forcing Celine to compromise a part of herself and he knew why she was doing it. At the age of 16, Nathaniel packed up their stuff and moved the family to London, hoping the London Institute will be a new start for his daughter (a place where she could be who she actually was). 

Despite the fresh start Celine was still a stand out amongst her peers. Her years with the fey added to her grace and agility, achieving feats someone her age shouldn’t be achieving. Her enhanced hearing aided in obtaining knowledge around the institute, she soon became a favorite amongst her instructors. Her success in the shadow hunting world made her father proud, and she was happy to make her father smile but the deeper she got in that world, the more she could feel herself slipping away from her mother’s world. 

Celine had created a decent life for herself in London. She was a top student, she had gained a close group of friends and her father was happy. All in all, it was good. But Celine was lying. Celine was lying to herself that she too was happy. Now at the age of 22 Celine had nearly forgotten the life she had in The Faerie, it seemed more like a dream to her. She lived with a mirage of the perfect shadowhunter daughter, whose mother died in a house fire. But with the news of the Seelie Queen being slaughtered and the threat of a war looming something was reignited within her. This was her opportunity to prove to everyone that she was there. If she could help and succeed in defeating whatever darkness lied ahead then she could truly be herself, they would have to accept her. With New York being a center of the action, Celine packed her bags and said a sorrowful goodbye to her father. She is determined to show everyone that she was worthy – worthy of what? She isn’t sure to be exact. She just wants to be seen as herself, not as something that shouldn’t have been.

Additional IC Information.

- Through her time in The Faerie, Celine has gained the ability to sense ley lines and her hearing is above an average Shadow hunter. She longs to return to the Faerie but finds the thought heartbreaking as she knows her mother won’t be there.

 - She is an extremely resilient girl and the above quote hints at her nature to get herself back on her feet and dust herself off. 

- Now in New York she does not hide her fey heritage and is proud about the slight tip on her ears.
