I'm so curious about Taylor's directional project!! I can't help but wonder what it could be about! I'm also, still very excited for ts12 as well!!
i don't think the movie will be anything out of left field of what we'd expect from her. she always tells the stories she knows really well: coming of age, identity and self-image, love. i'm actually starting to come around to the idea of her making a movie (i was hesitant at first) and am now feeling really excited for it. like i think she'll make a better film than she makes music videos.
and same! i feel like it's right around the corner...

Your tweet about the disengagement of entertainment: is it too bold to say that I think when Taylor has a good year, it always benefits other artists. Taylor is driving attention towards the industry and the musical landscape making people pay more attention to the other artists that are out there as well. It's kinda an interesting pattern that both times where Taylor has been on a break (now and in 2017) and the musical landscape is so bland. I know it has more to do than just Taylor, the political landscape is also shit and bleeding into entertainment. But do you know what I mean? Another part of it is, I feel like whenever Taylor has a good year it's almost like both the suits behind the scenes and the general public want to prop up other artists, mostly female artists, to compete with Taylor. Like they want to find artists that can dethrone her. They not only want to benefit from Taylor's success and the association (Sabrina and Gracie), they also want to prop up artists who are the antithesis of Taylor (Billie and Charli). We can see this in similar effects in 2017/2018 after the success of rep tour.
You're touching on all the relevant points indeed. She's sort of a launching pad of sorts. I've been spending a lot of time thinking about this, the potential upcoming releases and TS12.

A source close to production tells E! News, however, that the rumors are not true and there is still only one screenwriter on the project: Taylor herself.
As someone who works for a studio (I’m not an executive or anything like that lol) a source can say all they want about someone being the sole screenwriter, the matter of fact is, the studio will have other screenwriters on to assist. It’s literally how it works now. The studio will also have constant oversight of the whole project & any decisions being made are approved by them. This project is not being funded by Taylor so, the studio is funding it. Even Christopher Nolan has to get studio approval on most things. I love Taylor to death but she’s not doing this whole process herself. They may frame it like that for the media, but it’s a team or people. She may write the script, then more experience and seasoned writers with experience will look it over and course correct if needed. Songwriting is a whole different process than screen/script writing
that's about what i was guessing the situation to be, but ofc i'm not in the film industry so it was just an assumption. i can see how with taylor, the appearance and the narrative matters. but no one would ever say an author didn't write their book just because they had an editor. very interesting insight, thank you for sharing!

‘Tis the damn season for Taylor Swift to turn her sights on the big screen.
Three years after it was announced the Grammy winner would be making her feature film directorial debut with Searchlight Pictures on a feature film she wrote, rumors began to crop up that screenwriter Alice Birch had been brought onto the project.
A source close to production tells E! News, however, that the rumors are not true and there is still only one screenwriter on the project: Taylor herself.
Otherwise, details on the project have remained scarce since the 2022 announcement of the project. At the time, Searchlight Presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield shared their excitement over the collaboration.
"Taylor is a once in a generation artist and storyteller," they said in a press release. "It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey."

Sabrina selling “retro” CD Players, please god don’t make it seem like I’m ancient in terms of age by using the word “retro” on things I’ve owned 😭😭😭😭😭😭
i think it's because it looks like a record player.......hopefully lol. cd's are the best way to buy music though, so i'm happy she's making that a more accessible option for music consumption. like that's a win at the end of the day!
#everyone buying cd's without owning a cd player 😭#and i'm guilty of it too!#but cd's >>>> vinyl#ask

he is not the kingmaker he was from 2015-2019. I do see him getting streams and doing well, but nowhere near what he was 7 years ago.

just wanted to give a little context, b/c i'm in the feminist theater scene and i think most people will discuss alice birch in terms of her film and tv work -- she is a HUGE talent who is specifically known in my world for being very challenging, erudite, powerful, and (i mean this as a huge compliment) intense. lots of excellent, precise anger, really daring, fairly exclusively interested in the strange, dark, weird, brilliant undersides of women's lives and worlds. all of this to say -- i think you're dead on that this will be a little twisted (which is, also as you say, actually totally in keeping with longtime elements of taylor's oeuvre), and also fucking awesome. i can't emphasize enough that this is my wildest dream pick. bodes so, so well and speaks very highly of taylor's vision imho
WHEEEEEEEE i can’t wait

Yea I think people still like a lot of Drake music but as a person he’s seen as sort of lame now. I could see his album doing well over time but maybe not right out of the gate. Like I’m not sure people will be tuned in day 1 but will check it out eventually.
didn't he release a single or two recently? feel like it made 0 noise lol bc it's not good! the quality of his work has dropped significantly anyway, so like idk if people have the incentive to tune in. but we'll see
