yall can still look cute !! and don’t have to spend your whole stash of potatoes to get wardrobe expansions and all the new shop items !!! sometimes it’s a nice breather to see a simple avatar, especially when everyone is going ham and speedrunning!! we love you guys, dv is meant to be a happy and calm petsite. this is just a reminder that you don’t have to shell out everything you’ve saved to look cute <3 (also, color-clashing stat outfits are in! we love the chaos)

Hi guys. A bit more serious post today.

So as many of you know, Tox has returned once again, but this time to Dappervolk. For those not in the know, Tox is a user who has been repeatedly banned from pet sites for pedophilia. In a more infamous event, he was caught actively grooming children and trying to move their interactions off site to continue the activity.

I am not in the DV discord however a close friend of mine is and has reported that younger members of the community are getting increasingly uncomfortable with his presence. Since I have somewhat of a platform in this community, I would like to ask you all to please assist me in getting DV’s attention on to this guy and the threat he poses. Here and here are receipts for his predatory action (TW: pedophilia, blocked off pedophilic art, abuse).

Per DV’s rules, users are not allowed to “Repeatedly or maliciously use the Dappervolk customer support ticketing system to target a User”. For this reason I cannot recommend reporting him via the ticket desk however I will state that the friend who brought this to my attention did and I intend to as well. If you do decide to report them, you can do so by clicking “ticket desk” at the bottom of the page and going from there. Due to the site being new, I am unsure how the mods will respond to this sort of thing so be careful if you go this route. Ideally one report from many people about the same person shouldn’t cause issues (especially regarding matters like this), however it is a new site and we haven’t had much time to see the mods in action aside from two years ago in beta.

I also highly discourage on site interaction with/about him as the rules also state that you are not allowed to “Incite a group of users to single out, shame, or ostracize (i.e. "tar-and-feathering") a user”. (Though as far as I understand, off-site content that does not directly link to/from DV is fair game). I am unsure how the mods would inforce this rule when it is applied to DM’s.

These are not the only rules that apply to this situation, so be mindful when considering action.

Adults, now is the time we need to step up and work to protect the younger members of our community. We may not be their parents/guardians and thus are technically not responsible for their safety, however I think we have a moral obligation to at least try.

Edit: I have been told he is currently going by scenegelert on tumblr and slash_master_gruslen on neopets.

How to block him:

Account (top of the page under avatar) -> Settings (bottom of drop down list) -> Block/Mute List (under the scroll reading account)

You will then need to type in “5688” (their ID number) into the “Block User” text box and click on the green check mark (do not press enter). You can also type in their username (Tox) however the number is more reliable as it cannot be changed.

Final Note to Minors:

Minors, avoid this person at all costs. If you see him do not interact, just block and move on. He is an experienced predator and while you may be confident that you won’t fall for his tricks, you are better safe than sorry.

You have no obligation to try and stop this man. In fact, I discourage you from doing so. This is a time for adults in the community to step up and protect you— please do not put yourself in harms way trying to stop this predator. I apologize if this comes off as condescending, but I know my stubborn 15y/o butt would try and confront this guy and I cannot emphasize how much of a bad idea that is.

Also be sure to mind what information you share online. My friend who brought this to my attention reported seeing three different threads where children were revealing their age. This may not seem like a big deal, but I doubt Tox is the only experienced predator using this site/similar ones to find victims and you are better safe than sorry.

same thing was happening to me earlier in turnip thief! please watch out while playing some of the games on dappervolk right now, i don’t remember this happening during beta so keep an eye out. good luck dapperfolks!

If you are or have been playing the recently opened petsite Dappervolk, please please please be careful while playing.

An audio glitch in the adventure system caused my right ear to be blasted by a note exceeding 100 decibels. More than 10 hours later, I am still in pain.

I cannot reproduce this, nor do I want to, but I truly doubt this will be the only instance of something like this happening.

Furthermore, the least it did was cause me debilitating pain. For someone else, it could cause a seizure or a panic attack. If that is something that could happen to you, even a slim chance is still a chance. Be careful, do not take the risk.
